  • The Hundred Years' War was a prolonged conflict between France and England. The war was triggered by territorial disputes and dynastic rivalries, and it had a significant impact on international relations, national identity, and war tactics. During the conflict, military advancements occurred, such as the use of gunpowder artillery, and social and economic changes took place, such as the disintegration of feudalism and the strengthening of centralized monarchical power. The war left a lasting legacy on European history. The Hundred Years' War was a prolonged and complex conflict that lasted about one hundred and sixteen years, from thirteen thirty-seven to fourteen fifty-three.
Despite its name, it was not a continuous war, but rather a series of conflicts and truces throughout this period, with several pauses and resumptions of hostilities. The war originated from the dispute over the French throne. After the death of King Charles the Fourth of France in thirteen twenty-eight, without direct male heirs, both King Edward the Third of England and Philip the Fourth of France claimed the throne based on their family connections to the French royal family. Tensions between the two countries increased, leading to the start of the conflict in thirteen thirty-seven.
