Perry - "Have you really thought about what its like to be queer and to hear that a part of you is sinful?"
Zoomer - "I may not be queer, but I know that every part of me is sinful, because that's what the bible tells me. And there's not a single part of me that doesn't need to be corrected with the Word of God and with the Spirit of Christ every single day. And that's the Gospel"

You should know “blessed”, in Greek “Makarios”, is equivalent to “happy”. @glassworks4850 4 месяца назад +2

@@mrvramos87 base on your definition of Makarios, we are all the more called to be happy in God, rejoicing in the Lord, because of this divine privilege. Jesus desired that His Joy may be in us, and our joy will be full (in Him). When some brothers say that "God calls us to be holy, not happy", I say they are making an unhelpful distinction. Because being holy is being all the more Christ-like, and being Christ-like is being inexpressibly happy in God as Christ is happy in God the Father. You can't divorce the two or else you remove the substance of holiness.

This is obviously false. Greed and selfishness are much more seamless and natural than charity and self sacrifice. Satisfying your own bodily desires even if it's potentially at the expense of someone else is much easier than abstaining. All these things are anti Gospel and obviously false. I'd say maybe to understand what is going on in that person's mind and try to see what type of misunderstandings or areas of focus lead a person to think this way. Also to not be surprised by these points if someone you speak to brings them up, and better be able to handle the conversation when they come up
But of course you are right that after that point trying to find common ground is basically gone, since it is beyond heterodox and just straight heresy if someone sees the resurrection in that manner, denying the very point on which our faith depends as Paul mentions in the Epistles. At that point it's more of a "what god do you believe in?" type of conversation.

It’s crazy because why is he shocked that sin is being called a sickness. The core of the gospel is the fact that the heart of man is deceitfully wicked. We all fall short and sin is the result of the fallen human nature. But thanks be to God because Jesus died for sinners so we could live through Him. When you accommodate for one sin, you invalidate what Christ did on the cross. When the disciples asked Jesus why the man they saw had fallen sick, they asked if it was a result of sin. This infers that it was common (but not always) that sin and sickness go hand in hand. Sickness is not always a sign of sin but there are so many similarities between the two. As mentioned, Jesus called sin a sickness. I just don’t understand this 😭😭😭

Because he probably studied theology at a liberal institution/seminary or at mainline protestant seminary. He therefore has probably studied as a concept used by the Church as a historical concept used by Church fathers, the Reformation and other groups before Enlightenment. On those seminaries sin is rarely talked about as something bad one does every now and then and something that´s a problem yes but since everyone´s sinning those seminaries focus on grace and love of god in their theology.

Something I noticed with many liberal theologians/ pastors is like Ruslan said their conclusions end up being just the contrarian position to historical Christian stances. Also, there’s a bigger focus on the here and now and the materialistic/ physical than the eternal (sin itself or the afterlife and the consequences of sin are intentionally vague), even if it’s at the expense of orthodox beliefs. Many see certain unintended physical consequences of how a historical doctrine is expressed, but the biggest issue is that the liberals overcorrect or downright reject doctrine in order to fit modern secular morals. But likely cause their theology is reactionary by its nature, they’re still influenced by the expressions of the culture they’re brought out from and are unaware of this (notice how the the pastor says that affirmation leads to LGBT living in loving affirming relationships when nowhere in Scripture does God guarantee or command that every believer must be married-which is something both conservatives and liberals forget. )
The Gospel also gets boiled down to “Jesus died so you can have a good life in the now and to do what makes you happy if it doesn’t lead to physical/emotional harm”.
The problem for these liberal pastors is that their gospel isn’t unique, it tells people that they are fine just the way they are, and that you can find those same messages outside the church. According to that “gospel” you don’t really need to be saved from anything.
Even though the main goal of the church isn’t to increase numbers solely for the sake of increasing numbers-the liberal approach isn’t necessarily working considering that most LGBT people aren’t religious and the vast majority of people that identify as such that had religious upbringings didn’t mass migrate into liberal denominations. In fact they just like many others with similar positions are just turned off by religion as a whole, even if a denomination panders towards secular morals.

It's a core aspect of my being to desire to eat the whole packet of chocolate-coated cream cookies. I could do it every day. Don't be violent and tell me it isn't a good idea. lol just because it feels good and desirable, doesn't make it so. If you're converted, your feelings are a better guide than when you're not, but regardless, feelings always have to be modified by the Word, not the other way round.

This is where an understanding of everyone being a new creation in Christ is unequivocally essential. Being made in the image of God runs deeper than our own understanding of who we are.

8:58 you notice how nothing the Reverend said points to God. It’s about people living joyfully, finding spouses, contributing to their community. Nothing there about showing God’s glory, being a person that shows Jesus to others, drawing people to Christ. Their theology is “me me me”.

Glad you addressed the "violence" claim. This is the common approach from this group. "They" have no real argument, so they have to claim violence to assert some kind of high moral ground.

The sin of lust is one of if not the worst sin you can do or struggle with. That's why the bible says to run from it, where all the other sins, scripture teaches to fight.

Minute 7 he was talking about “side x”- “ex gay” theology, from the 80s the message there was that God wanted them to be straight and be attracted to the opposite sex…the movement failed- in one study it was something like 9 people out of the 4000 involved who identified as being same sex attracted actually were able to enter into a heterosexual marriage and move past the ssa….it didnt work….this is cuz God wants us to be Holy and that doesnt = straight. The pursuit of holiness for both single staight people and lgbtq singles means a fight against lust and fight for faithfulness for both, which means celibacy for many

Jesus said we should deny ourselves, and take up our cross to follow him. And for those who identify in LGBT, the denying self will be much harder than an average person because they will have to resist and overcome something that they feel is the core of who they are. Therefore there will be a lot more termoil on their part, but it will also create a very Godly Christian who trusts in Jesus.

So what this guy is saying is he agreed that Jesus said that sinners are sick, that sin is a sickness, but telling people their sin is a sickness is wrong and actually spiritually "damaging"... so Jesus was in error? And that apparently some of Jesus' theology was from God and some of it was not?
Yeah, tell me you're not following Christ without telling me you're not following Christ.

I appreciate how RZ opened up the point on the fallacy of ID being tied to preferences. Do the 'addicted' want or need to identify with their malady for happiness? Do naturally stingy or selfish people need to adjust their fruit by the help of the church's influence (even LGTV versions)? This pastor has made a god out of the modern focus on gender/relational preferernces and he has been trained to accept and measure all other standards against it. He is blind and in need of a physician.

The way this Pastor rationalized these people’s lived experience away by claiming “they are probably just bi,” reminds me of the way some Christians rationalize how some can turn away from the faith, “they probably didn’t believe to begin with.”
When your theological position is just rational system rather than a lived experience, faith becomes an exercise of logical syllogisms and maintaining ideological positions.

Yes, he met with sinners, accepted them and told them to repent, not continue in their sin. We are all born into sin, so in that sense, we are all "born this way." Jesus calls us to be born again. That's why he died and rose again!!

You're absolutely correct on the fact people who call words violence, haven't experienced actual violence. I thought I was gay until about 3 years ago, then I realised everyone I had bonded with was molested as a child, along with myself. I honestly believe a lot of gay people, are simply just trapped in reliving their trauma.

It is interesting that the one defending the LGBTQ position refers to those characteristics as “something immutable” to themselves.
I don’t think this is what he means by this, or that he is thinking in this vein, but the attribute of immutability belongs to God and God alone. Humans, because of our finitude and absolute dependence upon God are always in a process of change. Claiming that our sin as something that cannot change, is a fundamental denial of what it means to be human, while at the same time, sanctifying sin as something that possess only what God can possess. There seems to be an unconscious, or perhaps conscious, deification of sin, a heresy of the highest degree. Pray for this man and his congregation.
