First time fighting him was a pain. I struggled t get past his shield until I found out I had to use blade mode to cut the shield off. My brother, however, got irritated and decided to attack him from behind, which takes the fun out of it.
tho I haven't played MGRR, my fight style always have some "honour" thing. Like, cheating out a boss by exploiting it is cool. But where's the fun in that? Play the enemy's game, win on your own terms.

You actually don't have to cut the shield at all. You can just stand in front of him and wait for it to take off by itself, then launch an attack.
