    Honestly, someone showing the actual process of doing open source in a real project, telling which projects to choose to contribute to, how to do it step by step.
    it's highly appreciable.
    Open Sourcing tutorial with this much detail was not available on RUclips.

    Oh yea i tried the promt with GPT this one
    "Well there is an linke called URLRegExp and there is issue in URL if the url has .in then it will allow to valid the url but it also works with .com, i want to make it as if its xyz.in or xyz.com both works."
    GPT output:
    To modify the urlRegExp to accept both .in and .com top-level domains (TLDs), you can use the following regular expression:
    const urlRegExp = /^(?:http(s)?:\/\/)?[\w.-]+\.(?:com|in)(?:\/[\w.-]*)*\/?$/i;
    And then explanation...
    and it gave me the straightforward answer just like what you did harkit

    Hi Harkirat, I understand that you are making this people who are freshers and doesn't have much exp in development. But these are the kind of issues I can fix on my own as they are quire straightforward. The problem what I am facing and struggling with is shipping and contributing new features to these open source projects. Can you create a video where you are contributing a whole new feature which is not very straightforward and how do you go about it and stuff like that. Thanks!

    • @aakarshan4644
      @aakarshan4644 Год назад +2

      I'm pretty sure making contributions like major features or some big change would require you to be involved with the core team members and actively discuss roadmaps with tradeoffs in features and design etc. For e.g. a nodejs member who started solving bunch of issues (around 10-12 ) around December of last year, got involved with the team pretty gradually and grew to bigger and bigger changes.
      Personally I'm trying to mimick the GSoC projects that the orgs put out and trying to understand the ramping up and development on a new codebase/stack. I believe the ease of major contributions also depend upon the quality of codebase. I've seen big codebases which are extremely hard to work with and the context is not in documentation but with the core devs.
      Finding a growth project is much more important than randomly solving small issues IMHO. I personally have a hard time finding growth projects. I try looking into niches like dev tooling, APM tools, etc but no luck. The funny part is when I find a project that my laptop can't even run lol.
      but where there is will there's a way I think we need to keep iterating and keep exploring to find projects we love. I know a student who got into a major web3 org as a security researcher after he dangled with the EVM and auditing contracts and codebases for around just under a year! that's fucking sick!
      those were my two cents best of luck on your open source journey :)
