I have to say, as a high school percussionist, these are super helpful so I know what are some reliable products so I don't waste money on crappy gear. Thanks dude!
I love your videos. It is very difficult to find a RUclips channel that has this theme facing symphonic percussion. As well as the excerpts you post playing and also the drumstick and mallet reviews. it's great!
I'm not in a symphonic orchestra, but in a what is called in Dutch "harmonie" (woodwinds + brass + percussion) so your advice might not be as relevant for me. But I'm gonna ask anyway: What mallets do you recommend for wood block/temple blocks? Currently I use the shoulder of normal drumsticks and it gets the sound (and pitch) out of the blocks, but I have to hit on the edge (where the opening is) to get the best sound, while with mallets you play more in the middle, which is good for faster rythms. I'm looking for something that is more in the middle, so that I can do loud parts, as well as quieter parts with 1 pair of mallets. (later down the road I might buy more different mallets, but I recently invested in some other gear, so don't want to buy more than 1 pair of mallets ATM) Bell mallets probably get excluded right away, to not damage the blocks, I guess Plastic? Hard, medium or soft medium rubber? Stay with the drumsticks?
Do you order your Dragonfly mallets from the Dragonfly Percussion website, or from somewhere else? If you got them from their website, how long did it take before they shipped them?

They are VERY quick with orders. I would say you’d get your stuff in a week or so. Depending on USPS.
