This man is so very original , while standing on the shoulders of so many . He's keeping live music alive and he's really good at it . God Bless .
Ray Wylie Hubbard...the official poet laureate of the state of Texas.
Of walking up right, I'd say. He does make Texas look good.
Ray Wiley Hubbard is one of the greatest story tellers of all time. The guitar makes the story tremendous .
The absolute best and a great man!!!
Been following this guy since the '70's. I was blessed to be around Austin during the Golden Age. So humble, so wise, so gifted, so generous to his fellow musicians. God bless him.
You are Blessed.
I wish you had videos of him from the past.
@@Jacob_PottzRay, like all of us has aged some, but if you catch any videos of him circa 1982 Ray Wylie was Hot snd just as talented, funny and humble as he is today!!
Hubbard is one of the reasons I still listen to music.
He is the greatest "unknown" singer songwriter. He is known but seems he never gets the attention. Love the man and his music, and when I get to heaven I'm gonna take off my shoes."
Remember when Redneck Mother was so popular? When I met him in a small classroom at UT, speaking to High School Honors English teachers about writing he said if you're going to write a song, think about it. Bc you might just have to play it for 20 years. He's not thrilled to be famous for that song.
One of my life fantasies is to hear Ray and Emmylou Harris together
First concert I ever worked security at at Fargo North Dakota in 1977 was Emmylou 2nd was Willie Nelson. Ray is my Anthem.
Great talents!
Ray’s mic is sweetly HOT!
*Ray Wylie Hubbard* one of the best story tellers along with, *Tom T Hall* Old dogs children and watermelon wine!!!
If it’s in the groove everybody loves it!
Sir, your song about rock gods made me cry. Crying comes so much easier with age. Can’t say I like it, but reminds me I’m alive.
Thank you
Neil
Beautiful ❤️
Go ahead on and cry. Happens to me now when I play guitar and can hardly get through a song- especially a song my friend sang in his group The Band entitled "It Makes No Difference". I cannot get through anything from Jerry Jeff, Billy Joe, Mr. Prine and the list gets longer all the time.
When you love great music be ready to cry, you cannot help it no matter how hard you try, but glad they left the songs behind them so we can always enjoy Townes and Guy...
@@cravinbob heard what you are saying. As a 30 yr old i took my mother to Jerry Jeff in Belize. Best part/worst part.. she asked where the tropical beach was? oops, i failed to mention San Pedro didn't have that beach....
Could have listened all night!! Great show!
Wow! The harmony on Ray's classic, Messenger, was really special. Well done, Kelly.
Room sounds fantastic. What a pleasure!
Helping up us get out of the ruts, and into the grooves. Great show.
I noticed the Holy Trinity shirt right away!!! Leon Russell and the Church studio are/were great!
OMG you just said Leon Russell! I'm getting old!
What a great performance!
A legend. A magnificent poet , philosopher , musician and Artist. I pledge allegiance to Ray Wylie Hubbard. All these years he's been my favorite funny life ring. 🎉
RAY WYLIE A REAL STAR.
Beautiful vocal blend, those two.
Both the original and this one are outstanding. Like he said, it's an Austin thing and everyone just shows up. That's how Sharla at Emerald Sound Studio in Nashville made everyone know they are appreciated and are taken care of and magic was created!
@RAYWILEYHUBBARD please tell Mr. Charles S. Hello!!! The Vance family is looking forward to your February show at the TEXAS THEATER in our lil’ town of WAXAHACHIE TEXAS!!! The show we met you at the Chataqua last time was Absolutely Awesome!!! You and LUCAS are Royalty to us!!! You have gotten me through so much and you will always be my Hero!!!
Love Kelley Mickwee, y’all sound amazing together 🙏👏. As always…..great show!
That was fantastical!
Great to see you Ray Wylie! I didn't know this was gonna be on ... but was lucky enough to get into the middle. You are looking great and I will be seeing you in a few weeks at the All Good Cafe in Dallas.... will be bringing your Topo Chico!
I discovered Ray via BlackBerry Smoke. I've been fortunate to see him twice. Just recently at Cains Ballroom. Drive from East of Indianapolis to Tulsa. Cains was so cool and Ray was awesome.
I have always enjoyed the performances of Ray.
Love sitting playing along to what i can and loving this music more as i age.....
Wish I could play at all - but I'm sure a good listener.
Not only does Ringo do the fill from Get Back, but Joe plays part of the solo from Life in the Fast Line.
Nice Martin you got there Ray I'll be damned if the times aren't changing after all. If you have any deep mystery inspiration songs for the people there's no better time than now to be singing them.
Amen Ray is a national treasure, poet, philosopher of life really awesome
Ray Wiley Hubbard is the coolest musician - I love his music it makes me happy :)
I am a 71-year-old Oak Cliff boy. I never met Ray Wylie Hubbard, or Michel M. Murphy, but I was introduced to B. W. Stevenson at Hampton, Illinois shopping center in Oak Cliff Texas. I did know Stevie Ray and Jimmy Ray Vaughn. When the pot dealer came around, I'd wait at their house, and sometimes that meant most of the day. I have a story I'd love to share but this isn't the forum. Most everywhere has a story, and Oak Cliff has its share. Oak Cliff was defiantly alive. I also remember Bug's Henderson and johnny Nitzinger. I was a regular at a place called the Cellar, downtown Dallas Texas. Just a 2.5 mile walk from my house, and a $1.00 admission. Back in the day I saw many touring bands and artist drop by the Cellar. Oak Cliff had a bad reputation, but I remember the many good things that sprang up from here. Many have passed on RIP, but till the last of us drop, they will be remembered.
The James McMurtry comment was great, dude really does have incredible lyrics, I'd do some rewrites after hearing him at the Continental Club as well lol
Ray Wylie is absolutely fantastic as the sound of this video is damn good!
AGREED, I cranked this up on pro speakers, sound board, and all that it blew my socks off! Props to @Juan M Soria. Damn, that link didn't work, I tried
Ray's just as cool as hell
Years back, I rode a wild hare and landed in the Rust Belt. The only decent job I could find involved a 60 mile commute, 2nd shift. Ray Wiley was the perfect co-pilot for driving through blizzards at midnight.
Maybe it means you’re a damn cool guitar player, songwriter, and singer. Thanks!
Ray is wonderful! 🤗👊👏👏👏👏
I am from Brazil.

Was at the birthday bash at the Paramount- first time seeing and now a fan!
got out to reregister the car today, grabbed some grub, headed home. Turned on the FB , Hey ! it's back on; first thing I see, RWH going live in a few minutes. Somethings seem to turn out like destiny, like realizing my refund from the gap ins when I refinanced that car kicked back enough to get me a new pair of sneakers, and, to be home just in time to catch Ray and Kelley Mickwee doin this gig.
was just about to feel i wanted to wish it was longer, then remembered “The days that I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, well, I have really good days.” RWH
Very wise man
How on earth do I find RWH now after 50 years, guess I have been fishing in the wrong pools.
JUST FKN AWESOME! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE RWH!
The best!
so great!
Maestro.
🔥❤️🎶Really enjoyed this one 🎶❤️🔥
I just watched and got hip to him on PBS in the county jail! Are batch was ready to drink. They were shows from Austin city limits in the 80s I think.
You had that pruno

Classic Leon Russel Holy Trinity tee-shirt.
Nice
Love Martin guitars Ray but the j-45 thump suits your sound better imho.👏
“Hip-hop is folk music, too “. Good try. Can’t put words into Ray Wiley‘s mouth.
LOL!
Sounding good, and that D-45 will run you ~9k
Mike, I've gotta switch to DA, my son was supposed to come down and convert me but got too busy (House of Blues/Chicago) Could you send me a link on the "D-45"? - Old school anologue man as Joe Walsh sings about! $9k really? lol
😍🥰👍
Night people gonna get the day peoples money..........Cool
I live on lake Eufaula , I don't know he reads any of this ? Probably not
Wow! I have a buddy that lives in Eufala.!
I guess the question is, Who's the second best song writer.
Was this studio used in the movie Cadillac Records?
🐰🐕🐕🐕
I stood in disbelief and wondered when the madness is gonna be done
The grievous tears come upon me in consequence of Route 91
Then I was in a studio and once again I broke down and cried
A voice come on my headphones and told me Tom Petty died
Ain't nobody left to sing the blues the way they supposed to be sung
Everybody's talking, no body's listening... It's like we just speaking in tongues
There's a beauty that we witness when standing in a sacred place
Yet looking at the disarray elsewhere you think maybe God's run out of grace
All the rock gods are dead or dying
Seems the whole world is broken and crying
It is more than prayers we are needing
We're all on a cross, alone and bleeding
Hey engineer, can you take it back
This train is coming off the tracks
We were as beautiful as angels
When we were born with virtue and trust
Then our innocence was lost, burned off or turn to rust
We were betrayed by black winged shadows
Rising in the darkness at dusk
Stealing us away from the light, leaving broken toys in the dust
I remember that day. :( Would hate to hear that in the IFB while you're in session. Those lyrics were written by whom?
OMG That's Ray Wylie! Sorry for my lazy!

Jesus to the religious people of his day when they were wanting to stone him he for what good work are you going to stone me they said not for any good work but because you being a man make th yourself God he said is it not written in your law I said you are gods and all of you are children of the Most High but your going to die like men and fall like one of the princes .Psalm 82 and John.
430#Hebrew strongs the word God is gods of the supreme God angels magistrates judges.
We are angels gods .

Willie, this is a fun thread praising the aristry of an artist who God Gave talent to, as his success continues, what is the harm in that? I know not if Ray is a Christian, Buddist, or other, but he writes lyrics that are inspiring to all religions, or schools of thought. It's not necessary for you to criticize someone who is obviously a kind person and inspiring to decades of people/listeners/viewers. People love RWH. Go take out the garbage, sit on your porch, and stop being easily offended.
