Not saying the conditions weren't difficult but the equipment does most of the work and sitting on a computer cutting clips together or speaking to a microphone is time-consuming but not difficult in any way. These guys designed and constructed an entirely custom machine for this project then fulfilled the project goal. The documentary... 🤦♂ Were you being facetious?
How to make Boring not at all boring!
Hats off to the production, graphics and editting team as well of course as the hard working miners who do the actual, extremely hard, work in the first place!
The seamless transition between animation and video was unique and appreciable
Having worked on tunnel projects around the world, I salute the Marti team and Herrenkenct TBM and the animation of this video. The explanation and filming show us tunnelers the difficulty and innovation used to overcome the faults zones and give laymen an insight into the tunnelers life.
Having driven the early drum diggers on new tube/metro lines in London, rock tunnel under the Severn-Wye rivers and other tunnels under the Suez canal Egypt, St Clair River Ontario. I have a great respect for water.
Well done to you all and I'm glad I didn't have to work on that one, the grade would have driven me nuts.
You guys are the real astronauts! Fantastic engineering and workmanship, but also wonderful that you spent the resources to make this video - I am sure more people would be interested in civil engineering if it kept being explained and shown this well!
Wow, this is a really impressive film that shows the subject of tunnel construction and its pitfalls and challenges very well.
Marti, I appreciate the way your team filmed this. You gave due credit to your workers and emphasized the physical labor and creativity they had to employ to make this possible, gave extremely clear visual and auditory explanations of each step and each setback, acknowledged some cliches in the editing process with a good sense of humor, and still managed to market your brand very well.
This was a titanic task and your drilling team definitely deserve accolades for what they accomplished. Thanks for taking us all along for the ride. Best use of 30 minutes that I’ve spent in a while.
😊
😅😊
All professions can be mastered. These guys seem just that. I wish our culture put less emphasis on the parasitic suits and more on the Workers🎉
The accurate alignment of the breach point at the end is incredible
Probably the best tunneling documentary I've seen. The graphics make it really easy to understand how the TBM works, the challenges, and how they overcame them.
This is one of the best documentaries I ever seen. Kudos to the Filmmakers and Marti group.
Wow, what a complex and difficult task this was, with constant obstacles cropping up. I salute the engineering team and the daring workers at the TBM head for successfully completing this project! This is a very satisfying video!
Yeah pretty cool.
Jesus that water looks so pristine. Like it would be super clean and tasty. This video is making me thirsty haha.
Danke für diese wirklich tolle Reportage und Erklärungen und Absoluten Respekt an die Männer die sich diesem Job jeden Tag stellen 👍
Incredibly well explained. I had always thought about how we drill huge tunnels with cavities and water, it was jaw dropping to know about concrete and resin injections. Man.. how complicated this is.. What a dedication. !!
Just gotta say, my Grandfather Sam Sigman would have enjoyed this so much. He spent his career working for the New York City Water Supply, from surveying the Neversink, to the tunnels below NYC. Except for some time not counted after going on strike in the 1930's, he was the longest paid employee for the City of New York...probably a real pain in the ass at the office before he retired! This amazing video would have triggered a long, late night of discussions, and calculations, a little whiskey drinking, and a few stories of Aquiferous Strata! Cheers!
I'm in absolute awe, I'm speechless, the work these men have performed is next to impossible. This is the best documentary I've ever seen on youtube.
Agree!
I thought this was a video I would click and leave after a few minutes, but then I noticed that I was already 20 minutes in. The video is a truly masterful creation, suitable for such an astonishing project. I learned a lot about tunnelboring, which isn't boring at all. These workers deserve all the appreciation they got! The setup and planning of the projectspecific infrastructure was also extremely interesting to me. Keep the wheels spinning!
I thought the same. The transitions from animated to actual camera footage was just amazing.
@@BethePandaGames That was just chef’s kiss!
pun not funny
30:07 its absolutely astounding to me that we have the ability to line something up from so far away so perfectly
The animations and detail in this video is above and beyond , this is peak quality. Rarely do you see things like this on YT , well done gentlemen! ✌️
And ladies!
Wow the editing in this is next level, all the transitions from animation to real world are almost seamless
Agreed! The way they overlaid/inset the live video with the animations is superb, adding a great bit of context to the feat and working conditions to achieve it. Also, that explanation of the shield injection was amazing!
Shame about the hideous synthesized voice though.
This is certified engineering porn, never mind the edutainment which was also stellar.
An absolutely amazing accomplishment from every angle.
Loved seeing the pride on everyone's face at the end.
Stellar job by all involved.
Thanks for sharing!
They held no pride, trust me. Just a job well done. The comparison to vile porn wasn't necessary either
That fallback gripper mechanism is fantastic, and explained extremely well. The way it can retract to make the diameter smaller is also very cool.
@@AR15andGOD
I know it's just a way of expressing your awe, but comparing the marvels of engineering to some actress getting fucked by a bunch of dicks is kind of insulting to the people who went through this amazing undertaking. I'm sure there are other, better ways to tell someone they're great, other than comparing their hard work to getting fucked by a bunch of dicks.
@@libertas5005 spoken like a true pseudo intellectual prude who is resentful of being involuntarily celebrate that they take pride in their supposed intellect and superficially pure. Taking pride in hiding behind a veil of sounding intellectual and superior. To bad that reveals you are too intellectual not to know that referring to something as porn is a colloquial expression more akin to something being arousing for a specific interest. Engineering porn in particular is arousing to those interested in engineering.
So when you are done with your tempter tantrum, you're welcome to fornicate with yourself.
I cant believe the quality of the documentary-the seamless transitions between high quality 3D models and the actual machine part, the drama of the fault zone- its excellent. Learned a lot about how to make an industrial grade water battery.
This is one of the most perfectly created real life video / animated educational documentaries I’ve ever seen - combined with audio of a voice that isn’t annoying or difficult to interpret and set to a speed that isn’t sluggish
or boring or long drawn out - in other words , Awesome !
Yes, I agree with your thoughts and opinions. Didn't expect to see your comment here. How are you doing? I'm Jesse, do you remember?🤣
Damn, looking at the technology required to drill tunnels like these makes me appreciate both the hard-working geniuses of the present and the dedicated bravery of those in the past, who chipped tunnels, mines and catacombs out entirely by hand
Wow, what an amazing feat of engineering! The CGI and animations overlaid with the real footage were so helpful in understanding what was going on. Great job with the CGI!
Very interesting also to see the setbacks and problems. That makes these videos more authentic than just plain drilling.
The most awe-inspiring video I've ever watched on RUclips. I've now watched this video about four or five times. It is incredible, and I return to this video not just to marvel at the miracles of tunnel engineering, but also because it is so inspiring.
The Marti Gruppe simply refused to give up, despite overwhelming obstacles that surely would have caused a lesser company to pack up and go home. My sincerest congratulations to all those responsible for this great victory. I wish I could shake hands with a few of them. A real tribute to the human spirit. Well done!
Then there's the quality of the animation and the narration. Also just outstanding in all respects. A real pleasure to watch. Ingenious ways of showing the problems and solutions to very complex geologic situations encountered by the TBM. Perfect editing and blending of real video with animation to keep the viewer both informed and amazed. Hats off to all of you. Wish I worked for Marti!
Amazing! The amount of preparedness for unexpected problems is never enough. Shows how good reactions and on the fly decisions will always be needed
The team and TBM did an outstanding job!
Congratulations to the team!
Working on a smaller tunnel like this is difficult, and the inclined tunnel makes it even more difficult.
The video done is reallly cool and makes it so easy to understand . Thanks
By far the most impressive, detailed yet understandable TBM video I’ve seen. Incredible integration between cgi and live video.
The animation in this program really helped a lot explaining what's going on. Well done.
Got to say, people who do this type of work are a different breed, well done to all, also excellent documentary very well put together and very interesting.
A truly masterfully made documentary, those transitions from animations to real life made a complex operation easy to understand....I never would have believed digging a hole could be interesting.
Man i feel so many emotions watching this as a micro-tunneller but mostly congratulations on the accomplishment! 25 degrees then 42 degrees, the resin concrete mix and the risky shotcrete. Man what an incredible achievement to tunnel this bad boy here. Harder than you can possibly imagine.
Fantastic video
Edit: Showed my wife and she is blown away by the video, "If anyone even did a fraction of that they are incredible"
Wow. This is an action-packed documentary and the drama of the loose rock zone made it even more engaging.
Thanks to MEN like this, mankind has come to where it is now! Truly awe-inspiring, The sheer determination, skill, and bravery that these tunnelers possess is truly amazing, it's heartwarming to see what can be achieved when people COME TOGATHER to accomplish something truly remarkable. These tunnelers are a true testament to the human spirit and their incredible achievement is something that will inspire generations to come... a lot of the time this kind of hard work is overlooked unfortunatly. Thank you for sharing this amazing video!
This was like watching a premium documentary. Love seeing the guys doing labor getting credit with the guys doing the designing.
This is such an interesting and entertaining video with lots of detail where it's needed, but also never without humor and never a dull moment. A true diamond among the muck of corporate profile videos. The producers should get a nice big bonus.
Epic porn. High def corporate masturbation. Good to see you got off on it.
Wonder if the geologist who told them what kind of rock to expect was nervous about having only three boreholes? Great video! Amazing work on constructing this tunnel. Thank you for making such a compelling video about it!
Im a civil engineer, I truly agree most of the world's problem can be soved by concrete😁,
Kudos to everyone and to the talented, sleepless animators of this masterpiece.
It is truly a miraculous material.
Oh! While you are here I have a quick question: Do you think that mixing graphene into our concrete will improve its durability?
Also do you think the concerns about the impermeability of concrete, its carbon and energy usage, and its aesthetics are valid? Do you think these have ways of mitigation or will their flaws just have to be dealt with.
32 minutes of very informative and mind boggling video, best 23 minutes I have spent. Congratulations to all concerned
I watched it from another browser where I wasn't logged in, but I just switched browsers to leave my like and a comment for such astonishing work. Well done guys!
There is so much to say here, but few words are often most appropriate. The tunneling effort itself is phenomenal and the workers performed miracles. The engineers and technicians did an amazing job dealing with much unknown geology. Finally, the creators of this video performed their own miracle. I watched the whole half hour with bated breath. Thanks to all involved.
The sheer determination and technical know-hows of the engineers that made them to overcome insane challenges is truly mind boggling!
we are swiss, worlds best tunnel constructors 😀👍
Truly show, everyone puts their mind toward greatness anything is possible.
What an incredible achievement. The workers all deserve an award for overcoming every obstacle in their way. It is amazing to witness such determination, bravo.
You and I are the only comments I've seen so far that lay tribute to the project itself. Everyone else is only talking about the video quality. At first I was laughing, now I'm a bit confused and concerned.
Truly an amazing piece of work!! Images of both the actual tunnel and the animation were integrated seamlessly and made it possible for anyone to see and understand what was going on. A marvel of engineering and an incredible glance into what humanity is capable of. Bravo!
The courage of men hardworking on such dangerous jobs must be appreciated.
Fascinating engineering. It boggles my mind trying to comprehend the thousands of details they had to solve. What amazing machinery and crew to achieve this massive undertaking. Great job on the video, the animation and the narration. THANK YOU 👍
Some of your transitions are insane, I genuinely don't know how you do them so cleanly. I also love how everyone is talking about the quality of the video and not the content itself, even though it deserves an equal amount of praise.
yep
I learned so much from this video, and it's so well edited to clearly explain a complex project. Bravo!
I learned that most problems can be solved with concrete injections
Good job guys. 10 seconds of video never accurately depicts the months and months of struggles you went through. impressive work.
I spend 2-4h a day on RUclips. I have never seen an animation like this. What a masterpiece.
I'm extremely proud of these men and for the Marti Group. Their engineering plan and determination to complete this project was incredible! All the redundancies were applied and problems were mitigated smoothly.
One of the best videos I’ve seen on tunnel boring. What’s interesting is they must have planned for liner use by installing adjustable wedges with the gripper plates so the machine could pass through.
Stunning engineering. Seeing that these workers are actually able to go into the drilling machine while it's drilling makes me want a Snowpiercer type story set in one of those machines.
The detail In this video is insane, the fact that you also even told us the scale speed while flying around in the animation is amazing. Good job 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Loved each and every bit of this video! Seeing those engineers overcome the challenges and celebrating the success at the end warmed my heart! Truly a engineering marvel! ❤
Like so many others have already mentioned it this was one hell of a great documentation. Way better then some "action" movies. Thanks a lot for that
I just wanna way, love the username. 🤓👍
@@zombieregime just some random creation :)

After 3 decades in heavy industrial construction, I have to say the coordination and execution, even in the face of unexpected adverse conditions, is absolutely phenomenally impressive.
Truly incredible how much people, resources and engineering skills are necessary for a project like this
I made the mistake of listening to the first few minutes in the background- but as soon as I took one look at the renders I realized I needed to start over to watch it. The graphics are amazing!
Yeah, that is some impressive work ! I'm a pretty critical guy, but I have no negative critique of this documentary !!
. Incredible feat of engineering.
Hats off to these gentlemen and ladies involved in this bore. What are we NOT capable of ? Huh ? Wow !!!
This was a phenomenal video. Your AV group that put this together deserve a round of applause just as your tunnelers do. Total group project. Those guys did great!
Seriously impressive for a corporate-produced video, it was both exciting and informative. Hats off to the engineers who drilled the tunnel and the production team!
Absolutely amazing!
One of the best 32min I spent watching something on RUclips!!!
I thought, let me have a quick stroll through as I work in HS2 Euston/London. But holy moly , this had me hooked and amazed all the way through. Hats of to everyone involved.
WOW! There were TONS of problems and surprises, but they were overcome with smart and ingenious engineering!
Fantastic!!!
AND the animation was GREAT! Really showed the difficulties and engineering behind the boring job!!!
Whoops!!!! It's the most exceptional video I've ever seen. Congratulations to the production team!!!
Absolutely spectacular documentary. Well done to all the people involved in this.
Awesome video, well done to everyone. Being now retired from Atlas Copco Mining & Construction group regular people just don’t understand what it takes to punch through 1 meter of rock and the hard work done by underground miners and how the working conditions just beat up the most well made equipment. Again we’ll done to everyone at the Marti Group in getting the JOB done 👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Both the excavation team and the film crew, editing, and anyone else involved did an outstanding job. This is an incredibly well done documentary.
I don't even know why I am watching this, but the editing and way the video is narrated is perfect. Great job.
This is a hidden gem of a drilling doc! I love how the animation team transitions the 3d model into real life spaces!
These animations are incredible. Your team takes pride in their work
Bloody masterpiece, amazing engineering and digital content creation. Bravo.
What a story!! This is an incredible video and I'm so happy I watched it. Thanks for sharing. The detailed explanations and animations were fascinating to watch. What an accomplishment this was!
