My end game system will be an Integrated Amp based system with either a Jeff Rowland Design Group Daemon, or a Musical Fidelity NuVista 800.2 unit. They’re incredibly fabulous designs!🌹
In 2024 integrated amplifiers give separates a run for their money. Who says so? My ears do. Just like a separate preamp has been replaced by a dac/pre. Today......a separate preamp just isnt needed.
I agree 100%. I still have my 70's vintage harmon kardon 430 and Epicure 10 speakers. To me it still sounds great, I don't need to spend thousands of dollars on audio equipment.
@@brianbumgardner8704 Until you hear a really good separates based system. Then its up to you to decide whether its worth it TO YOU to spend more money.
Reviewers almost always ignore separates but never try to explain if/how integrateds sound better. Kinda pisses me off that they collectively refuse to do one or the other.
Console stereos in the 40s and 50s (0:46)? I don't think such items existed back then - at least not here in Germany. Were the U.S. so far ahead of us? P. S.: "Those console stereos were all monophonic" (at 1:56). Yes, that's why they weren't console *stereos* . 😉
@@D1N02 i prefer integrateds to, i love that classic look from accuphase ,back in the 90's i owned 3 technics , great sounding ,now i have marantz , its all a taste , buy what you like to hear , not how your neighbourg thinks how it must sounding , in your home , your sound ,...
Well, there’s truth in that. No one needs separates. And if you want to milk that logic, no one needs a $1500 smartphone, or a $150k car, or a $1.5m home, or a Rolex watch….on and on. But you may WANT those things for whatever reasons that matters to you. If someone wants separates and feel that they can gain something meaningful from it, why should that be a concern?
Separates are a way for "audiophile" sales people to dupe "audiophile" elitists out of money because the truth of the matter is that separate components don't offer any better performance and often times provide worse performance than integrated components.
Although i already know all of this, i truly appreciate Paul going back to basic topics. Its always nice to hear Paul everyday... - Loyal subscriber 😊

The new launch of the Marantz 10 integrated looks like it can deliver, separates have been whats right for me to the max Paul.
Every time I see that rack I wonder where the phono stage is for that turntable.
I will buy the musician to sing in my room hhhh. Just kidding, I love my separates. ❤

@ryanschipp8513: Actually, I went steps further. I have a decent AV receiver and it’s doing the job very nicely.
@@bikdavwhich AV receiver is that? I flip-flop between separates and all-in-1 for hifi and AV.
Seperates are three videos in one day?

Paul, My Grandfather bought a console tv, to watch the Moon Landing. Best, D.

Forget digital transport and DAC. Explain to me why I need to buy a digital clock (and I don’t mean radio shack a la Enid Lumly).
A transport is not really that different from a CD player.. It's litteraly a CD player that needs an external DAC instead of having it internal.
Any plans to update the Sprout?
I have a console from 1965
I assume it's not a gaming console LOL
Separates all the way !!!

Some of the vintage konsols are seriously cool, but they doesn’t fit in to today’s lifestyle! The art of design change…😮
Integrateds are a lot more practical (e.g. less wires)
Until you try to repair one.

Audiophiles, as a general rule, will sacrifice practicality for sound quality every time.
Hi-fi separates are ways for manufacturers to sell more casework, cables, and parts that the listener doesn't need.

Except for power amplifier, you just can't fit a dual mono 150w class a in a integrated.

What an ignorant and incorrect statement. Stick with what you know, which clearly isn’t hifi gear.
