He read perfectly, that if he didn't trade out some of his units, he would end up just sitting on 200/200 for no reason. If you look when the engage happens, it's pretty much perfect. Even more amazing by Scan.
The way you cast the games on this channel, especially the Terran players, really highlights why they are pros and it’s one of the best aspects of your casts. You’re so good at explaining the nuance of a situation. It also seems like scan is the Terran that most closely plays to how you think about the game.
Finally a Terran that pushes with 2-4 Gols guarding the tank line from speed shuttles. Scan is also one of the few Terrans to fortify one side to push on the other. Should be Standard Terran by now but most just leave it open for runbys the whole game. Congrats to Scan, he's really upped his game. 😎
To me the most interesting aspect of this is: we’re seeing both opponents map detection. And I can be quick to say “oh they should’ve done this!” Then it hits me that they’re only see THEIR map visibility and not the other lol. So watching how close they come to flanking/missing a unit/avoiding a trap is pretty exciting
I rooted for both players in their previous matchups. I'm not sure who to root for now. Scan's games were mostly impeccable, and Motive has had some excellent plays. Guess I'll just hope for good games. Whoever wins, deserves it.
The way Scan played here really reminded me of Light. Set up super solid defense with supply depots, macro hard, harass with vultures, and when they attack you just judo flip them and steam roll.
This game truly shows that skill and consistency beats flashy moves (no disrespect for Motive, he is a great player and I hope his next games are going to be entertaining, but Scan is just level above him when it comes to experience).
This video reminded me of a Day9 daily for SC2 involving DTs. "When you build one, you're saying 'I hope they don't have detection. 2 DTs, 'I really hope they don't have detection.', 3 or more 'Oh god they REALLY need to not have detection." Not an exact quote but it was along that thought line.

The difference in game skills is too big. Their macro is on the same level but Motive cant get a single skirnish right. This will be one-sided finals unfortunately.
Terran mines are the ultimate cheese in BW.. Anyone who plays terran has a huge advantage because of mines. People always say that terran is the hardest race, but to be honest, it is the cheesiest race.

A year ago or so , when Scan was on Arty's stream, I noticed how effortless and SMOOTH he looks while still having 350-400 apm. Compared to Arty haha
