- Ed Bickert Trio - "There Is No Greater Love" (by I. Jones & M. Symes)
Ed Bickert, guitar; Doug Watson, tenor sax; Jack McFadden, bass. Live at The McMichael Art Gallery, Kleinburg, Ontario. June 25, 1989.
His comping just blows me away -- so understated, so musical, and so incredibly sophisticated.
His understanding of harmony is absolutely mind-boggling. Like you said so well Rod, Ed was musical. There is no other guitarist that can move or inspire me like he can.
This is very nice, the recording, balance, etc I also appreciate the lack of drums allowing us to really hear Ed in all of his glory. Superb!
Just got back home from work, ice cold outside. Glass of red wine and some of the finest jazz to relax. Thanks for uploading ❤
Life time of study on trio guitar playing. Genius soulful playing. .
So Good! I don't want to stop listening to this-ever!
...more impossible playing from Ed Bickert (not to mention the bonus of a present, well-balanced recording). Thanks very much for this.

@@dougwatson2030 uhh, this one 96qHH0YsKyE is far better recording and mix for example.
Very great !!!
i like that thx dear ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
This is gold.
Thank you Doug! It is great to access examples of Ed Bickert playing. And that is nice tenor playing! Perhaps you also like Hank Mobley? ;-) Very cool to have a trio and no drums by the way.
Did you hit the Ed Bickert Long Lost Treasure Trove??!! Thanks for posting all these amazing never-heard-before recordings! There must be a story behind how you chanced upon them…
The one who uploaded these recordings is Doug Watson, the tenor sax player present on these tracks.
when I first heard him I was on the radio in my car and I thought it was an electric piano that I was hearing
