@Zed is dead They could make a ton more money doing Hollywood blockbusters, their pay in these Wes movies are pathetic by industry standards. The truth is, who wouldn't want to be in a Wes Anderson movie? The guy's so talented and cool, and you get to hang out with the best actors around, it must be like a holiday for a lot of them.
Rotten tomatoes has this movie at somewhere around thirty percent approval. The day I saw that was the day I stopped paying attention to anything from rotten tomatoes. I guess Wes Anderson didn't pay off the right people. He should have asked the Disney people who to pay.
I was gonna critique your comment, because I couldn’t believe it to be true. That’s messed up. It has gone up to 56% at least, I suppose it has grown a bit on those lazy critics, who have lost all ability to be awed by anything. They say the pacing is off, what bs! I’ve seen this movie a dozen times and have never been bored. A slow movie might intrigue me, if it has substance, but I rarely rewatch it; Life Aquatic isn’t even close to that category. I don’t love every single Wes Anderson film, but this is him at his absolute best, and I’m glad they fought through the mess and brought us this movie. So many subtle, yet memorable moments and scenes in there. And if you really go with it, it makes you laugh hysterically, be moved and still be delighted by the satirical bits. At least it has well over 80% audience approval.
I saw the film in a theater in NYC during limited release and have to admit that everyone in my group did not like it that much. I was disappointed and now knowing the chaos on set can see that Wes' vision was compromised and rushed. Over the years I have come to enjoy it much more because of Bill Murray's performance.
At the time of its release it wasn’t received well, but as time gone by the reception of it has gotten better. Rotten tomatoes can’t change their ratings but I think we all know it by now that it’s an amazing movie and always has been
It's my go to happy movie. Whenever I feel sad I watch this movie. I gotta feel for Wes Anderson shooting this film with all these seasoned actors and keeping it together.
Well Bill, from my perspective, this film is one of your best ; I understand it was difficult but even though you're a bit older now you must still suffer for your art and I really appreciate it.
All of those weird double negative lines by Defoe ..... 'Not if I don't see you first' ...!!! God , I laughed so hard .... Who knew He could handle comedy so well !!!! Love this film ......
Theomite I don't think Bill likes that many people in general. I'd rather meet Willem if I had a chance or choice. Although actors are often still acting on some level when there is a camera rolling.
I love all of Wes Anderson’s films to one degree or another, but this movie is special. You get something new and different out of it every time you watch it. It seems to fit every mood; if you’re sad, happy, it always hits. And the cast is fantastic; I personally think this is Bill Murray’s best work since his “comeback” (basically since “Lost in Transition” and “Rushmore”).
These four people I regard as being just the absolute best, in their outputs over the years. If Willem, Bill, Jeff or Wes puts out a movie, I am already interested in it.
I imagine the people behind the camera just going: ok, Wes, Jeff, we're here to talk about The Life Aquatic, please wait until the camera is off to discuss this wont won't thing.
hah yeah if the Criteron documentary showcasing just how much Bill HATED much of filming in that tank is anything to go by, Bill's eyeroll seems fitting.
Everything wes does is entertaining. This look back is awesome I can watch and watch them speaking from the the heart. With intestiy. This movie obviously means soo much to all of them. The experience was impressive for them all you can feel it
bone chill is real! I don’t know the actual scientific action of it and I doubt your bones actually stay cold for months lol but that is what if feels like. We had an insane cold streak in the midwest several years back and my Dad got a very bad flu and was unable to chop wood, the only way to heat his home is with a wood burning stove and it was so cold it need to basically be roaring 24/7. I was trying to be a hero and come over there and chop 2 weeks worth of wood for him in one session. Even during the day it was -15 before wind chill and I bundled up and went out there and chopped for awhile. it was so cold I set a water bottle down and when I went back to take a drink it had frozen in not much time. I got a chill that wouldn’t go away for a week after that
Dukefrukem Actually, it isn't. There isn't a singular way to say it. My dictionary says [wawnt, wohnt, and wuhnt] are acceptable; and the Macmillian audio dictionary has "wohnt" for both the British and English pronunciations.
Take a Photo of Hennessey Draw a line of some shade of Blue going starting from the middle of his bottom lip going downwards Draw two more lines with the same shade of blue under his eyelids
It must be something about how Wes handles his shoots that keeps all these veterans coming back to film with him time and time again.

@@zedkay7396 isn't it a financially bad desicion to do a wes movie, murray especially makes big sacrifices (moonrise kingdom, even the life aquatic)
ScarJo did asteroid city for free basically 🤷🏻♂️
It's not the usual shit.
I never get tired of this movie. It's got so much in it you find something new every time you watch.
same here, dude
I know this is fantastic
I hated it when I first saw it and now I absolutely love it
“That goofy town on the water, what’s it called? Naples..”
that’s such a zissou line
I thought that immediately lol
Its so bill murray
"What's his name? Say Jor-jy?"

Anyone else think that this movie just stays with you and you keep thinking about it….for days after you have seen it.
Papa Stevie 😢
Yes
I think Jeff Goldblum is the classiest man alive
+Mr. Tulip id have his babies whenever he wants! lol
classy maybe. odd definitely.
but his performance in the movie was classic.
+Scary Eyeball he flirts alot.lol
Jeff Goldblum is an awesome guy!
David Bowie is up there with him

Wes looks like someone who would have a british accent
The entire won't, wont conversation was hilarious.
want, wont
I still liked the quirky film. If I want to see everyday stuff, I'll look out the window.
Well Bill, from my perspective, this film is one of your best ; I understand it was difficult but even though you're a bit older now you must still suffer for your art and I really appreciate it.
but, this movie is so freaking hilarious, Bill Murray at his best. Willem Defoe came close to stealing this show though..........
Totally agree. And you can cross the line if any of you don't agree.
William Defoe is hilarious in the film especially when Steve meets his son in the beginning of the film!
It is a funny film for the most part but the submarine scene towards the end of the film, that scene really can hit you hard in the emotionally sense.
@@majordolbyscat I hear what you're saying but I think you misjudge the guy.

Seems Bill and Willem had very different opinions on this "life experience."
I don't think Bill likes Willem. He's too polite to say, but his face says it all.
Theomite Especially that eye roll around 4:50
Theomite I don't think Bill likes that many people in general. I'd rather meet Willem if I had a chance or choice. Although actors are often still acting on some level when there is a camera rolling.
eye roll = feigned humility?
Theomite He's just being humble when Defoe is praising Bill's legend.
Seeing willem dafoe with them is weird. For a split second i had to remember he was even in that movie because he transformed in it so much.
still my fav Wes Anderson and movie in general!! I'm very glad y'all made this
This is my favourite Wes Anderson movie. Ever!
The Life Aquatic is his best film!
Is that the only one you've seen?! Not a bad movie but it's one of his worst.
@@cactaceous I've seen ALL of his films friend. And The Life Aquatic is hands down his best. If you don't get why, then I guess you just don't get it.
@@deadpatronus I 100% agree
Hard to say it's his best, but the one I remember the most

Just an excellent film and superb cast. My 2nd favorite Wes Anderson film next to Royal Tenenbaums.
Dafoe is just a big ol sweetheart🥰
Wisconsin-nice.

The are masters of their crafts
finding this movie in 2024 for the first time and kicking myself for not seeing it till now.
this is the greatest movie of all time
The soundtrack is great too.
Fantastic movie, one of my all-time favorites, a true gem with some of the best performances by truly outstanding actors.
I need more Goldblum in my life.
Jeff Goldblum is a national treasure
A lot of Wes Anderson's films haven't worked for me, but I love Life Aquatic, which is odd since a lot of his fans don't care for it.
one of my favorite movies of all time.
My 8 year old son and I really enjoyed this movie. We really enjoyed the cast and its comedy.
I imagine the people behind the camera just going: ok, Wes, Jeff, we're here to talk about The Life Aquatic, please wait until the camera is off to discuss this wont won't thing.
Why is this not on the Blu-ray?! :P
Love Bill's eye roll between 7:02 and 7:03 haha

Jeff goldbloom is still in character haha

Thank you so much!
a favorite movie of mine !
Bill Murray trying to say Seu Jorge's name just warmed my heart.
Love it. Especially Jeff with his detailed analysis, as he is wont to do.
my most watched film ever
I could have done without the Starz featurette if it meant this got in. But glad we're able to see it anyway. Bravo.
i wont more!!
I want to watch HOURS of Wes and Jeff talking
This was an adventure ... !
Great movie. My fav WA pic.

Willam Dafoe: "I like this :-)"
Awww
Talking about how to pronounce things as part of the interview is such a Wes Anderson character type thing
you know you're onto something when Goldblum is the least kooky poerson in the room
... silence and anticipation... "wont"
What a delight. For the record, I say "wont" the way Goldblum does.
Which would also be incorrect.
Dukefrukem

Sam Vicchrilli Wow - TWO dictionaries being completely wrong! That's interesting. :D
one of his best movies
Legends ! Legends everywhere !
I'll just say this: Willem Dafoe has the best smile I've ever seen
I think there was benefit to that.
It added to the energy
"He's got the crazy eyes!"
I love Jeff Goldblum, but I feel like he's just hardcore wingin' that interview.
I've always wanted to see Jeff Goldblum play a real psycho, kinda' like Robin Williams did in One-Hour Photo....
Watch 'Igby goes down' to see Mr. Goldblum lose his cool and beat up a kid (Kieren Culkin)!
This is the only criterion collection movie that I own.
dude hot water? Thats crazy.
Legends. Absolute legends.
The single strangest film ever made
This is one of my desert island movies.

He's amazing
Bill Murray 4:49
who cares... an amazing movie was made. its profound and wonderful. suffer some
The first half is just Wes Anderson and Bill Murray trashing the production and I am dying
All these problems are now fixed with CGI. Fixed doesnt mean good.
It was ok but i think it is in the lower tier of Wes movies.
Please find a different word from 'quirky' to describe Wes Anderson's films.
Epic

Woody Allen wishes he had ADHD this bad lol
