Absolutely, if you’re lucky enough to have your own gear this is a crucial element of gear selection. Some clubs are also set up to allow different grips for crew boats when crews have been selected for the season which allows the best grip size for each hand size. Most other times compromises have to be made as gear is shared.

I believe you meant fingers should be at a 45 degree angle, not 90 degrees.
