I’m wondering if Cronin will be around for three more years. Honestly, I hope they take next year for the chant, Chet, Cooper Flagg. But they need that lottery luck. I don’t know if Dame comes back to finish his career in Portland, if Cronin is still the GM. Portland reminds me of OKC and how Sam Presti, helped to slowly get them a great player here in a great player there in the draft and build upon them. Let’s see what happens. Great show as always Mike. STAY POSITIVE! Larry
Thanks for all you do Mike. Really like your podcast to start the day. Hoping for better injury luck next year and news of a better TV deal in place. Rough time to be a Blazer fan.
Moda will be giving away free tickets to have a half full arena next year and any TV showing a Blazer game will be in a bar/restaurant in the background with no one paying attention. It’s sad. I don’t expect much next 3 years.
There is no way the team loses 55 games unless the vets, especially Brogdon, Simons and Grant are traded or they’re “injured,” which would not be fair to their careers. Keep Billups to lose into the lottery.
Yeah I mean ...they won't be really bad again "unless" the exact thing the lead decision maker hinted at happens. Selfishly I would like the Blazers to be good. Realistically, and listening to the guy who decides the direction, it sounds like they're gonna stink again ... on purpose.
Neil Olshey had a good 7 years to bring in a star next to Dame. CJ, Nurk, young players, and picks were tradeable assets. Now it's all about getting lucky with draft picks. And that's what it is: luck. Luck with ping pong balls. Luck with the picks. The NBA has made deep-pocketed ownership less and less of an advantage. So Jodie Allen selling isn't a panacea. New owner will have the same handcuffs around over-spending. And may not even be all that interested. A key reason that Owners buy teams is because their accountants help them realize how the depreciation rule guarantees them a massive annual revenue stream all while the value of their franchise keeps going up and up and up. It's not all about passion for the game! Passion for the team! Get real. Ownership isn't to blame. Olshey wasted our opportunity. No guts. Olshey's big swing was hoping Zack Collins was gonna be All Star quality. He even brought in Carmelo a full year too late. Dude was sitting at home when we needed reliable frontcourt help. Here's to hoping we get lucky! Cause that's what it's gonna take. Disgruntled stars aren't just gonna be available in exchange for Grant, Brogdon, Thybulle or whatever. But, hey, maybe we'll get lucky. Chauncey Billups is still an unknown commodity. He need to also just stay healthy. All the injuries sapped any chance we had of competing for a 41 win, .500 season. But in the end: GO BLAZERS!!
When are you gonna stop blaming this mess on Olshey. This is Cronin and Jodys mess through and through. Every player on this team (minus simons who is a minus at 25m) is on the roster because of this front office. Dame CJ Nurk Powell Hart and a few others all had POSITIVE trade value. At the end of the day all we have to show for those players being gone is a projected tax team, Sharpe, Scoot and Camara.........thats about it my guy.
NO was to blame for some of it. He also hired Billups. Cronin traded CJ which was what Olshey could never get done and was necessary. Cronin also was doing those moves on the pretense of dealing with Dames extension. Once he asked out it threw another wrench in the mix. We arent competitive yet, but give it to Cronin to have assets and not a totally messed up salary situation in the coming years. We may still be in the tax, but just barely. Milwaukee is like 22million over. Everyone wants the team sold, but noone was going to buy it with a bloated payroll, 1st round exit no defense roster, and aging superstar sucking up a 1/3rd of the cost.
@@stevepeterson4154Everyone whining about a first round exit under NO is now whining because Cronin has to tear it down to the foundation to build a winning roster. Proves nothing except that whiners are whiners. I like Cronin's moves so far. Even how lucky he's been with injuries returning high draft picks. Scoot is playing like a stud lately and Shae is super talented. Toumani has been a surprise and Banton is a physically gifted wild card. Some of the other rookies got a chance to show promise as well. If this summer brings back some good pieces, we could be competitive in the 26-27 season. But next year is still part of the rebuild. If we can't enjoy it, then give up the tickets and turn off the TV. Nobody is forcing us to watch and, although Portland fans are comprised of a very self-entitled population, we don't have any constitutional right to a good basketball team.
There's a report that Jerami Grant skipped out the backdoor without an exit interview. It seems like his level of frustration might be among the highest on the team. He came to Rip City for a very nice contract. However, a huge part of his motivation was Dame's prodding and behind the scenes maneuvers, with the big idea that he was joining a winning team that just needed him, a little luck, and another decent player for a trip into the playoffs. He surely had no vision and no wish for the scenario in which he now finds himself. So, are the Blazers determining he is injured at the end of seasons in order to in some way make amends with him, to 'compensate' him for being on a perennial losing team?
What did you expect from the 2 headed balded hydras? Cronin is so so so dim witted I wouldn't know where to start my argument. The passing of Paul doomed this franchise for decades in retrospect.
@@stevepeterson4154Hmmm... Are we forgetting who hired the guy who put mediocre role players next to Dame for all those years without a realistic shot at a championship? Wasn't it that guy who said there wasn't anything wrong with the product on the floor and then fired Stotts and hired our rookie head coach. Oh, yeah. I remember. That was Paul who hired that guy. So, let's all blame Jodi for architecting the mess we are in now. Or maybe we could just enjoy the rebuild.
I think they excused him from the media to spare him further pain. No reason to subject him to the stupid questions about the obvious disconnect between his desire to play with Dame and where he is now. It would be a mercy for him to be traded to a contender. He could probably help the Bucks but I don't know if that deal is even possible.
Jerami Grant got paid $160mm to be the lead option on a 20 win team, and he is very likely to be traded in the next 18 months. I think he’s gonna be okay. This shit is business for most of these guys, so credit to JGs agent for getting him and his family generationally changing money.
Realistically the best thing for us to do is to be shitty again next year and land one of the great top picks next year, but nobody wants to accept that. In this super competitive western conference, we are the worst team. We need to actually let the rebuild happen. 2 more years.
Blazer players frustrated about getting smoked on the court? Naaaah, the high salary players get paid to lolly-gag on defense, with a bonus month of paid vacation.

The best would be to trade Simons and the older vets. Keep 'tisse. He's a valuable defender and a super team guy. Also smart like Socrates.

NO was a joke
@stevepeterson4154 believe it or not its a good start to a total rebuild so far. Good young pieces and draft picks.

I don't see how we have all these reporters and no one asked about the fact they are up against the cap
Where is the Cronin interview? I want to see!
kgw exit interviews on youtube. its the last one

Tinfoil hat! Tinfoil hat!
What up world

Where do I sign up for the tin foil hat theory Blazers podcast? :D
Jodi Cronin and Billups are a bunch of clowns
😂 well, you made me laugh and they don't. So, there's that.
Hope y’all continue to lose without developing any of your players 😘
