My grandfather who raised me since a newborn and gave me all the love he could give to me sent me this song when I was leaving to go with my boyfriend for the first time at 19. He said this is the best way for him to say the words he's been wanting to say is through this song and I already knew this song by heart but listening to it with a new personal meaning made me bawl my eyes out. Thank you Papa for all the love you've given me and more. You're my hero and idol.

Six months ago, my beloved husband passed away after battling with cancer. He loved music so much. This is the song he always played guitar and sang. He recorded himself. Now I have it with my Bluetooth. I feel mixed emotions when I here his voice singing this song.
I lost my fiance´, who I knew for only 4 short years, to lung cancer. He had 2 to 4 months to live when he was diagnosed. That really sobered me up mentally. I miss him so much, even 20 years later. Cancer is an evil disease. 🍀❤
Be at peace and know that music is one of those gifts that transcends our souls, our minds, and lifts our spirits beyond our bodies... And know he LOVES (not loved, LOVES) you!!❤❤❤
This is a "Timeless Classic" that is a good example of "Hall Of Fame" Songwriting...A Song that has "Meaning" and pertains to Human Life...I remember listening to him while I was a Young Boy in the 70's with my mother on an AM Radio...He was an Artist my Mother "Really Liked"...So whenever I hear any of his songs Her Spirit is With Me...AW! This song... I can't even begin to explain the feeling this song gives me. I'm a 21yr old recovering addict. I struggle with heroin. When I hear this song, my soul is at peace. For 3 minutes I'm actually happy.
I was pregnant with my oldest daughter when I first listened to his album the song came on and I began to cry because I wanted the best for her and shelter her.. my daughter is now 37 Wow where has the time gone.. the lyrics are awesome...As a parent we wish the best for our children and that no harm comes to them but can't aways be there to protect . mother's and father's can relate to this song...❤️
Thank god my parents had great taste in music. On the way to the west coast we played Cat's 8 track in the van. My parents pulled me out of boarding school in May '71, to join their journey. Been living in Colorado ever since. Still on that '71 journey; living the dream. Love the music and my parents for saying good bye to NY. Thank you for posting this song.
This song takes me back to a happy place in the early 1970's with family and friends. We used to live by ORU in Tulsa and a lot of my dad's co-workers lived in that neighborhood too. So it was a safe, good place. Whenever I hear this, I am safe for 3 minutes again .

I will always have fond memories of this song. It takes me back to February/March 1971 watching winter turn into spring. I never got tired of hearing it on the radio along with “Help me make it through the night” by Sammi Smith.
Heard this song over the years but never REALLY HEARD it I guess. One of my favorites now. Very easy to put your own meanings or memories to the lyrics. Great song!!
I was packing up to move from my apt in Indianapolis to move to Charleston, SC. A friend ,Mike, stood in the yard and sang this song to me. I never forget. I wish I had remembered his last name.

The reason I posted this was because on a post I had seen had derogatory statements about his religious beliefs. Also young man. I grew up with his music which looks like to me was before you were born. I view people as people not by their religious beliefs . I can respect whom I want to respect. You jump off at me like I said something bad about the artist.
I have always loved this song. Every song takes you back in time, and can change meaning through the decades you live. This song takes me back to a wonderful man that I was so in love with, and after two years, I thought he felt the same. He did, problem was, was he was married and I told him that I could not be with him. He was a few years older and me moving on was an awakening.of the soul.

This was the song my husband and I were dancing to when we first said "I love you" to each other. It's 18 years later, and there's been so many hard times, but we made it and are MORE in love than ever!! We knew that night we were never letting go of each other.
I'm genuinely happy for you and your husband. It's nice to hear about cases like these. It gives me hope that one day I'll have a similar experience. To me this song is about an ended relationship with the only girl I've truly been in love with, too young to be able to think, say and do the right things, necessary to let that relationship grow and continue. After 3 years of relationship, I sent this song to her as we were breaking up, because every single word of this song was and still is what I felt in my mind and heart, but I couldn't find a way to say it to her, for multiple reasons. Un an et demi de souffrances et une dégradation physique... terrible pour lui et pour nous sa famille. LE TABAC JE LE HAIS !!! Car lorsque vous continuez à fumer, il n' y a pas de miracle... This was my favorite song when I was around 5 Years old, i'm almost 16 now, after a long history of sexual, mental, and even physical abuse, this song hits so hard now. If I ever see my niece again (she lives all the way across the US from me), I'll play her this song.
I'm sorry you had to go through all that, and hopefully you'll see your niece again and can enjoy this great song together. I don't know how much the words of a stranger on the internet mean to you but I wish you all the best.
Did a 5th grade report on this song. Let’s just say my teacher was in shock. I’m 28 now. I hope my children grow to love the oldies too. This song should be a reminder that life doesn’t hand you anything. I learned that the hard way.
I have always considered myself a metal fan. The heavier the better but I adore Yusuf Islam. His music conjures happy memories of childhood holidays for me. That's what music should do like any art form, provoke an emotional response. Be it happiness, anger, grief or nostalgia. So thumbs up for Yusuf.
My dad loves cat Stevens in memory of my dad, he was murdered n IT'S SOOO HARD HE PASSED MAY 2017.DAD YOUR ALWAYS LOVED N MISSED SOOOO MUCH. LOVE YOUR FAVORITE DAUGHTER TRICIA CAPPIELLO♡♡♡♡
Patricia Cappiello I am so very sorry to hear about your father. I've lost mine also. Lost my brother around the same time. I had two young girls at the time and I hateto admit that I turned to self-medicating for a while. It was my girls that brought me out of it, but I play this song for them as a kind of 'I'm so sorry and you are the air that keeps me alive'. So, naturally, all 3 of us cry. You cry and you scream if you feel like it hon, till you cant cry or scream anymore. You have to work through the feelings. Only then can you stop avoiding thinking about him out of fear of breaking down into tears. God bless you ❤
This song helped me leave an abusive relationship that I might not have survived. It recognized "the (vulnerable) child" made me feel lovable and blessed my departure into the wide, "wild world."
Hey. Im a 14 years old and I know this song by my father. But, on the 30 of November 2021, he passed away. He was always playing this song and I know it by heart. It’s one of my favourite song ever and I will never forget how I discovered it and started to like it. Love you dad (sorry if my English isn’t good I’m French and I’m learning)

[Verse 1]
Now that I've lost everything to you
You say you wanna start something new
And it's breakin' my heart you're leavin'
Baby, I'm grievin'
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there

Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
I'll always remember you like a child, girl
[Verse 2]
You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do
And it's breakin' my heart in two
Because I never wanna see you sad, girl
Don't be a bad girl
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
Beware
[Chorus]
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
And it's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
And I'll always remember you like a child, girl
[Bridge]

La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la la la-la, la
Baby, I love you
But if you wanna leave, take good care

But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
Beware
[Extended Chorus]
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world

One of the most beautiful touching songs ever written.
The way he growls out, "And I'll always remember you.. " gives me chills.
He *almost* belches it out from somewhere deep inside. Unforgettable voice and technique.

I'm sorry you had to go through all that, and hopefully you'll see your niece again and can enjoy this great song together. I don't know how much the words of a stranger on the internet mean to you but I wish you all the best.
I hope it was painful 😢
Hope you Can forget Bad memories

Hello
The best singer songwriter of the 70’s!
Actually It is really a wild world
Did a 5th grade report on this song. Let’s just say my teacher was in shock. I’m 28 now. I hope my children grow to love the oldies too. This song should be a reminder that life doesn’t hand you anything. I learned that the hard way.
2022 and this is still such a jam
I have always considered myself a metal fan. The heavier the better but I adore Yusuf Islam. His music conjures happy memories of childhood holidays for me. That's what music should do like any art form, provoke an emotional response. Be it happiness, anger, grief or nostalgia. So thumbs up for Yusuf.
First song I ever learned on the Acoustic Guitar and will always remind me of my Grandad
My dad loves cat Stevens in memory of my dad, he was murdered n IT'S SOOO HARD HE PASSED MAY 2017.DAD YOUR ALWAYS LOVED N MISSED SOOOO MUCH.
LOVE YOUR FAVORITE DAUGHTER TRICIA CAPPIELLO♡♡♡♡
Patricia Cappiello story for your loss. Hope it gets easier. Lost my dad in an accident. He loved cat Stevens too.
God bless you ❤
I'm sorry and I know your pain because my dad, mom, brother and nephew we're also murdered. Stay strong.
Patricia Cappiello I'm so sorry, I never knew my Dad, I prefer that over what you've been through. ♡
My condolence to you. Sorry to hear about your loss.

ma'el 88 same, I‘m now at the 2nd season already. I love this show!
This song helped me leave an abusive relationship that I might not have survived. It recognized "the (vulnerable) child" made me feel lovable and blessed my departure into the wide, "wild world."
Pat the world loves you. Please take care to never forget that on truth.
thats bunk. If the world loves then why is there such a single parent rate and why is the divorce rate so freaking high.
Pat Emmert yeah. Me too
Pat Emmert beautiful testimony
Pat Emmert my wife beats me too
His breakthrough release from the spring of 1971-An undisputed classic.
