I have had weird itchiness on my scalp and one specific spot on my stomach that waxed and waned for 3 years now, as well as GI issues. Have been to several doctors, no explanation. A couple of months ago, my back pain was pretty bad too. I finally put 2 +2 together and went gluten-free. What a positive difference!! I shed 10 lbs and it stays off! I have more energy, too! My symptoms have dramatically improved as well. I take many of the products mentioned here. Digestive enzymes, multi vitamin, l glutamine, probiotics, collagen powder in my morning coffee with a bit of coconut oil. My skin looks good, my hair looks great. I am still learning and working toward health. I want to encourage anyone who has irritating symptoms and have had no explanation from the medical community to not give up and seek answers! They are out there!👍

anyone with all over pain should pay close attention to what they are eating and try eliminating wheat and see what happens. a wheat free diet is the easiest way to keep the weight off [wearing size 4 jeans here, didn't in my 20s!!] if sugar intake is low as well.

I went completely carnivore. I only eat, butter, meat, eggs, I try to have 100 g protein a day. I have lost 20 pounds and symptom free. I to weight training 4 times a day. I'm 54. Hemp protein is not an ideal complete protein to supplement with for your whole protein supplementation. That's just my opinion, knowing what I know about Hemp as a 'muscle synthesis' protein.
AND supplementing with collagen peptides - that's a good way to supplement for skin/hair/nail health. But again collagen is not a whole protein, it's missing one of the 9 essential AA's- namely tryptophan - and is therefore an incomplete protein.
Our muscles need an optimal amount of daily complete protein for hypertrophy - plus weight lifting (strength training exercises, plus progressive overload as your body adapts to amt of weights you are lifting.)
For your goal of longevity &avoiding sarcopenia- you need these elements - enough whole (complete) protein in your diet for muscle protein synthesis; weight bearing exercises, advancing to weight lifting AND progressive overload over time; flexibility exercises; balance exercises, stretching exercises,
    - a certain amount of Zone 2 cardio (at least 45min/wk) exercises (you've got that covered, Kimberly, with your 20min/day jumping on your rebounder ;))
A caveat re your zone 2 Exercising - your rebounder - IIRC correctly you are also on the rebounder preceeding your weight lifting on the weekends. Don't do any cardio, even zone 2 cardio - before a lifting session
You are getting plenty of Zone 2 in on your rebounder on weekdays. Any cardio exercising before a strength training session - not recommended - as it takes away from the energy required for your weight session.
Rather, a very light - maybe 5 min slow warm-up before you start a weight session would be ideal.
I would definitely NOT be shelving my Whey protein powder., because of the advice given here re protein uptake. (& supposed 80% 'sugar' biogenesis with whey protein powder? 😒 that is absolutely false💯)
Do your due diligence, Kimberly, and you'll be fine 🙂

I’ve lost nearly 100lbs over the last two years, but more importantly I’m in my best health, I’m 59 :)
I am predominantly carnivore (mainly beef, butter, bacon and eggs). I occasionally eat a salad, avocado or other low-carb foods, including berries. When I started I ate when hungry until comfortably stuffed. As my body adjusted I naturally fell into eating twice daily, some days I eat once a day. I like to change up my fasted periods so my body is not used to any one pattern. I do not eat plant proteins and do my best to avoid processed foods. Tribes didn’t look for food variety, they ate what was available in their area, seasonably

Thanks ladies for this broadcast. One of the suggestions I wanted to clarify for your viewers is WHY the 30-40 grams of protein in bolus amounts is important, ESPECIALLY if they are trying to build muscle.
The reason for this for those of us over 50 is because we need 2.7 - 3 grams of leucine in order to synthesize the protein to contribute to SKELETAL Muscle…. Which is critical as we age.
To get this amount of leucine, 30 grams of animal protein will provide that 2.7-3 grams of leucine for protein synthesis.
For vegetarians/Vegans, supplementation of BCAAs or Perfect Amino etc. will most likely be necessary because 30 grams of plant protein doesn’t yield the 2.7-3 grams of leucine…. Again, the amino acid we need for protein synthesis. For example it would take 6 CUPS of quinoa to get that amount of leucine. That’s a lot of food. 😂
I tell my clients the easiest thing you can do is figure out what is your goal Lean Mass in lbs? Eat 1 gram of protein per desired lb. and build your meals around your protein needs.
Example: 120 lb woman that is 20% body fat has a lean mass of 96 lbs.
therefore you want to eat 96 grams of protein per day. That might look like 30-40 grams breakfast , 30 grams at lunch and 30 grams at dinner.
Then you fill in the rest of your meal with mostly vegetables and/or slow digesting carbs….. but not white or processed carbs. 😊

Thank you, ladies, for challenging the main stream medical info! I agree with Kimberly that unless you need a surgery, I'm not impressed with the medical community and how they do a lot of tests but then have no answers or solutions. Old fashioned medicine or ways of life seem to make a lot of sense. I almost want to move out to a more rural area and live more with nature than in a city with traffic and pollution.
I've been feeling meh for a few years now and blame it on a demanding and stressful job that keeps me in a chair for 10-12 hours a day. Combine that with the impact of menopause and it has been a recipe for disaster! I don't know what happened to me but know these things are the prime issues that then create poor eating habits, no exercise, lack of self-care. You ladies are inspiring and so thankful for the information you continue to research and share! Time for some changes in my world and you have given me a great base to work with!

I’m very interested in finding out how a covid symptom that actually only lasted about one week is still doing damage and/or changes to ones body. I find out almost monthly something in my body is not what it used to be prior to the illness. I still, for example, have IBS since covid, I should be a stick from that issue and what I eat, which is now very organic and mostly home made. I do however, love my glass of wine with my early dinner and I only eat two meals a day. I dance Zumba three times a week and love it as my exercise. I’m 78 years young and feel pretty darn good for my age but that brain fuzziness won’t go away. I’m just not losing any weight and have a tummy that I want to get rid off, actually love to lose 20 lbs.

I changed my diet to high fat, moderate protein and low carb. I've been eating like this for about 8 months and have never felt better. One thing I noticed was that my skin changed dramatically. It's softer, plumper and my wrinkles seem to have nearly vanished. I'm 59 btw. I don't have an intensive skin care routine anymore. I use a beef tallow moisturizer and do red light therapy. I also don't use sunscreen and make sure I'm getting outside as much as possible---I walk in the early morning around sunrise and again near sunset to set my circadian rhythms. I also used to burn in the sun, but since changing my diet, I never burn anymore. I think they may be related. All these changes have greatly improved my sleep, my skin, my mental health and brought my weight to a really good place for me.

Your brain needs cholesterol, your glands (all of them) and kidneys and reproductive organs need cholesterol to make hormones.

Women shud be lifting weights and gain muscle b4 perimenopause n shud continue lifting to prevent muscle n bone loss. It's harder to gain muscle later in life. Lifting a challenging amount of weight is important in all stages of life and that doesn't end as we age. Infact we need it more (and we need more protein) as long as we are able to within our own capacities

This is awful advice (protein), imo. Kimberly, imo, you were correct in the 1st place with your 1g/lb WHOLE protein per lb of your ideal weight - supplementing with Whey protein. (Optimal complete protein intake is based on our ideal weight, not our actual weight reading on the scale).
That said, I'm going to look into this Perfect Amino 'protein' your friend insists you s/b taking in lieu of Whey.
I completely agree with her advice on when to eat, and her ideal whole protein foods, but her advice on the amount of exercise - especially the darth of emphasis on LIFTING!🙄 - do not agree with her 'moderate' exercising advice at all - that's good for anyone just starting out, but you are already lifting and adding progressive overload, as far as I know.

However, you are a menopausal woman and a “keto” way of eating can’t provide you the nutrition you need on an ongoing basis to age in a way that will keep you at peak health. If you look for the studies about the adverse effects of long term keto eating, you will see that around 9 months to a year and half in, some disturbing side effects often begin.
One of the BEST ways to include the “keto” diet in a maintenance for life approach is to cycle it. An example might look like, 30 days of keto eating with IF, then 30 days of mostly plants and animal protein without IF, and then 30 days of Balanced ratios of protein/carbs/fat with intermittent fasting one to two days per week and then start over.
Our bodies adjust quickly to a “way” of eating and it’s imperative to cycle nutrition…. ESPECIALLY for the gut microbiome which changes drastically in the menopausal transition.
Also, starting at age 30 we begin to lose 3-9% muscle mass annually. If strength training isn’t done and increased protein isn’t consumed, frailty becomes inevitable.
Hope this helps you moving forward. Congrats again.

My breakfast is two eggs two pieces of turkey bacon and a protein shake is 46 g of protein. Then for lunch I have a salad with three or 4 ounces of chicken breast add peppers cucumber some pumpkin seeds a little bit of blue cheese and squeeze a lemon that’s 39 g of protein. Then dinner is three or 4 ounces of meat either chicken or steak a huge side of veggies that easily is another 30 g of protein. And then right before I go to bed I have a bowl of plain Greek yogurt with strawberries a little bit of blueberries I’ll put a little bit of whey protein in it and 1 tablespoon of dark chocolate chips and that’s another 34 g of protein. So very easy and that puts me at about 140 to 145 g of protein a day! And I vary my salad topping adding nuts or add chia seeds to my shake or yogurt for fiber.

      Denise Bennett - 👍 excellent!
YES! On the Whey protein supplement! It IS the best way to supplement...nonsense that 80% whey intake is turned into sugar!👎
I eat very similarly to you, and coincidentally just started eating Chobani plain whole milk yogurt with strawberries & blueberries, as my after dinner (& post- prandial walk) extra protein treat ;)).
So happy to learn someone else is doing that too😉

Yes I also change my meats up. Lean proteins and have bacon here or there. My whey only has 2grams of sugar and it’s nice to add my spinach to it. Most good whey proteins literally have no sugar! Like you I disagreed with her on that! In the end it’s figuring out what works for you cause we are all different! I’ve kept shape but the belly was so hard for me cause I never had one until being 7 years into menopause. Life of a woman! Lol

@Denise Bennett yes, the whole thing, in my opinion of course, was disappointing :(
I also love Kimberly and her channel...
Well, up to this point, lol😅
Now I'm wondering why someone as savvy as Kimberly would allow this...and all without challenging any of Connie's 'facts'(a loose term in this instance, lol) - on how 80% of Whey protein turns to sugar in the body.
      Really?? 🤥
(I'd be laughing at this absurdity if it weren't so upsetting). She obviously got that from Perfect Amino's website, and apparently fell for it. Can't think of why else she'd be stating such nonsense, other than that she must believe it :(
Further disappointing...that THIS happened: a post of mine in regard to these false statements re...'80% Whey protein converts to sugar in the body" - which I know posted, (bc I re-read it), got taken down. A perfectly appropriate, but highly factual post challenging this falsity about Whey protein got removed. Appropriate - I did not accuse anyone of lying, did not 'attack anyone - just stated facts - and the post has been removed.
I at first thought that Connie had gluconeogenesis almost exactly backwards. It is a fact that any protein - Whey included - absorbs @around 75%, while the liver converts around 25% of it to glucose in the process of gluconeogenesis.
So, I went to Perfect Aminos website, and lo and behold, they are propagating the same falsity about Whey protein there.
Their supporting evidence is that, "Scientists have discovered...", and "studies show..." blah blah
      ...haha - What studies?!
No 'studies' cited. What scientists?! No names mentioned. Interesting!😵‍💫
Also, I took a look at Perfect Amino's, amino accid profile. It's missing histidine, one of the essential amino acids that makes up a complete protein
Therefore, Perfect Aminos is not a complete protein.
And, according to Connie, Whey Protein is not a complete protein! News to me(!), and to every bioscientist who is well aware of Whey protein's complete ESAA profile!
Btw, not the first time that my perfectly appropriate comment was removed on this channel.
I had challenged some 'facts' stated in a video about 6-8 months or so ago, (totally different subject) and my post mysteriously disappeared. Poof! No explanation, and I did ask what happened to it.
I wrote that one off to just some weird, unexplained anomaly. But here, once again, have experienced the same phenomenon.

Re the absolute bunk that 80% whey protein turns into sugar in the body - has been removed. Along with the fact that Perfect Aminos is propagating this falsity about Whey protein on their website and in their Ads...plus the added fact that Perfect Amino's - lacks histadine, an essential amino acid, has only 8 ESAA's and is therefore an incomplete protein.
That post WAS here. I re-read it. It posted, and is now gone.
    How?? Why? 🤷‍♀️

@Melissa Nutt it's not here - went thru everything yesterday (replies, as well). But , thanks for replying, I'll look again ;))
It was not a reply, but an OP.
I made 3 comments (I think, but possibly it was 2 OP's), and pretty sure I made 3-4 replies, yesterday.
It's possible that one of my shorter OP's that's still up (not like me to post short comments, lol😆), got
got edited way down?...bulk of it edited out, somehow.
I mean, several paragraphs re Perfect Amino's -that it's not a complete protein, as well as facts about how ANY protein acts in the body - and that 80% whey protein def. does NOT 'turn to sugar' as claimed.
As far as sources...Well, it's common knowledge how protein acts in the body, including Whey protein, but my main source there would be
Dr. Donald Leyman, Ph.d, a renowned biochemist (holds a doctorate in human nutrition), and has studied effects of protein in the human body for 40 yrs.
My source re Perfect Amino's was their website. Took a look at its profile - found it's an incomplete protein. They also make the claim that 80% whey protein turns to sugar in the body - no citations to support that claim, just some empty rhetoric like, "Studies show", and "Scientists have discovered." Thanks again for replying, I appreciate it😉

What do you do if you don’t have an appetite? I NEVER get hungry. My husband works till 10:00pm 2 weeks a month. I never remember to eat when I’m not cooking dinner for us. I have chronic pancreatitis and avoid fats as they make me sick ( have some of course). I will often fast 22-24 hours. I always have a banana, prune nectar, usually a toasted bagel with butter. Two cups of coffee with “Collagen Protein Peptide (
bio mvine) Powder” 20 g of protein a cup. I don’t snack/ EVER. I could NEVER eat the amount of food that you are talking about just for breakfast for the entire day. I will vomit if I overeat- that’s overeating for me. I do ACV. Am I doing it wrong? I put 2 tbsp of ACV in 8oz of hot tap water. I walk a minimum of 1 hour a day. I’m almost 66 have osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, degenerative disc disease, ankylosing spondylitis etc. Have had 3 spinal fusion’s awaiting for the 4th Fusion and repair of a minimum of 4 damaged nerves. Play ball with my dog 3-4 a day for about 10 minutes at a time . I can’t stand a bone broth- it’s horrible! Drink a lot of water and dandelion root liver detox tea. I’m 5’4” 111 pounds. Comfortable for my body. Highest I ever weighed was 140 lbs and felt awful in my early twenties. I’ve stayed between 110-123 my entire life. I will be walking more once weather is better. I can barely stand in the morning as I suffer 24/7 chronic pain however after laying 8-10 hours sleeping on my back in a lazy boy position (adjustable bed) can’t sleep flat. Can’t even lay on my hip 5 minutes without a popping, cracking sound and extreme pain. I NEED to get healthier and not lose any more bone density. I was 5’6” all my life by 57 I lost 2”. I’m sorry for the length of this message however I want to give you a full picture. I take approximately 15-20 supplements a day- do a box up each week for 3 x a day. My Naturopathic Dr. for some reason keeps avoiding blood work- maybe because he knows that we are on an extremely limited income.
Not just pensions but husband had 5 years of back to back cancer and no paycheque for 5 years. He’s working 13 hours a day now at 69 years old with painful lymphedema . Oh I take prescription Creon ( pancreatic enzymes-4 a day) should be 6 however I don’t eat 3 times a day. I’ve started drinking an e’levate greens shake with banana chocolate almond milk and another serving of the Protein Collagen Peptide Powder. I’ve been breaking bones since age 6 years old, can’t remember how many broken bones or surgeries I’ve had. First spinal fusion at age 20, then 34 and 52. Take vit A, B6, B12, B complex, C, Calcium, D, E , K, Magnesium, Zinc, HA w/Collagen, Ceramide’s w/Collagen- doing by memory- may be more.
Prescription- Synthroid since age 38 when thyroid disease started- I was thought to have Graves’ disease - thankfully not. I have zero energy- may be my 13.5 hours a day alone- lonely depressed, no car or any money to go anywhere with. My pension is gone after all supplements and my part of household expenses. I don’t know if I’m unhealthy or depressed as our life changed 360* after the 2 cancers 😢no money for anything- no more cruises. vacations, fine dining. I sit too long on my phone- average of 10 hours a day. I REALLY NEED HELP- please 🙏🏼. God bless you for all you do. I’m not bloated, I don’t look underweight ( Kimberly said “I don’t want to weigh 109lbs- this is where I’m comfortable at size 2…..0 in jeans. Castor oil in shower? Only have shower stall.
Bless you and Happy Easter ✝️💜

Kimberly thanks so much for this no nonsense straight talk with Connie regarding gut health and menopause. I've been so frustrated since 2018 - like a switch had been thrown - weight gain, puffiness that won't go away, lethargy... I've dug into Connie's website and was on the fence about committing to gut health... and then I came across an article in Popular Mechanics entitled "The Human Biome is going Extinct"
This article led to an interesting documentary called The Invisible Extinction. Needless to say I'm no longer on the fence.
Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring jouney, and thanks to Connie for the work you do. Look forward to more great content.

I eat twice a day . Breakfast maybe a piece of toast and 2 eggs. No snacks in between the next meal. Dinner Protein a vege and salad . Still fat. Weight gain happened after menopause. I was ultra skinny before menopause and couldn’t put on weight. It’s also in the genetics. 2 super skinny older sisters . Different fathers. Younger sister same father piled on the weight after menopause. Plus I’ve always exercised . Started weightlifting and running and aerobics and still doing the same at 63 years of age. The fat sits around the belly otherwise rest of body is normal.
