I hope not. While i love Persona i absolutely dislike the idea that Metaphor will eventually be a cog in the machine. I like its uniqueness built on borrowed concepts. Making that the staple for future games makes the game and any potential franchise born from it kinda... "Just another atlus game"

One thing I hope persona 6 changes is to make it so that you don’t earn a 1 more from striking a foe’s weakness during a multi-hit if another enemy blocks, drains, or repels it. It means that you can’t just mindlessly use a multi-hit attack to strike one foe’s weakness while all others block it

I think that the romance will have an even bigger highlight, being able to go on bonus events and after choosing someone as a partner you will have special dialogues with other characters for the rest of the game, being something that really does affect the game and even change the ending.

I really hope not. I hope Metaphor proceeds in the same way I hope Elden Ring proceeds. Both games are amazing, both have glaring issues which I hope future titles do not. Also btw, the whole “ATLUS takes aspect from previous games” is not a great argument, as with ATLUS it’s one step forward one step back.

They'll have to up the difficulty if you ask me. To me part of the reason why people say ohaya sucks is because her confidant abilities don't do anything meaningful. This is because regular enemies are too easy I've seen so many people including myself trigger the alarm and not care. More people would say her abilities were better if the game actually punished you for triggering the alarm.

I'm a huge persona fan but I played through metaphor then smtvv and I think maybe persona's combat kind of sucks in comparison

In my opinion people diss Persona combat way too much. I played both Metaphor and base SMTV and I can say that Persona is just more fun. Sure it’s slightly easier, but it’s way more satisfying.

@thecatinthehat125 why Is it more fun for you? Yes the animations are super nice, but there really wasn't much strategy it for me. I Don't know what difficulty you like to play on but playing the hardest difficulty on smt and metaphor I had to completely change my build and strategy multiple times but I never did that once in reload

@@marcusbayley5126 I feel like people mix difficulty and fun too much. Yes, it’s easier than SMT and Metaphor. However, that doesn’t make it worse. The One More system in Persona is so much more satisfying in my opinion because it feels so good to get an extra move when getting a weakness or critical hit, because you get to chain different attacks together and do a bunch of damage. And All Out Attacks are very satisfying to hit. Whereas in Metaphor and SMT the health bar goes down slightly more and an icon starts flashing. Yes it’s more balanced, you can’t deal ridiculous amounts of damage with it, but that doesn’t make it more fun.
Because of this, in Persona it’s satisfying throughout the entire fight, while SMT and Metaphor are just satisfying to finally get it done. This makes Persona more enjoyable as well because if you die right at the end, at least you had some fun during your attempt. In Metaphor and SMT, it’s just annoying to nearly finish it only to die to some random unexpected 999 damage move. And if the fun is finishing something, were you really having fun?
Besides, it’s not like it’s that easy. It might be for an incredibly experienced RPG player who grinds for 20 hours before every battle, but for someone who just plays the game normally, it can be a fair challenge. It’s not like you have to just press any button and win anyway. You have to be accustomed to it. In my opinion, something being harder doesn’t make it better. Something can be fun without requiring hours of preparation, and it can be fun just by being fun. Difficulty shouldn’t be the metric for quality.

@thecatinthehat125 ok, I understand your opinion now. For me personally difficulty is fun without a challenge I get bored.

I want not to be punished for choosing whatever I want in the s links but at the same time I don't want to see me choosing to be the worst possible guy and still the character I'm bonding with have the same outcome in it's s link
So why not make this a new game + thing it'll really make playing the game again feel different since I don't have to play it the same way but still lvl the s links I already know
Persona 5 early concept of traveling around the world could work

I loved persona 5, combat was amazing, cool cast of characters just felt great and engaging from the start. Metaphor just didnt do it for me, 12hours in and i was bored, character VA were god awful in english, combat was missing something. Pretty sure the only reason Metaphor sold so well day 1 was because everyone knew it was made by the persona people and were hoping it would bring the same magic. It did not.

I'm glad metaphor got rid of the point system from p5. Hope there will be more freedom in next p games.

Metaphor feels like a breakaway from the recent Persona and SMT hype getting back to some of that good ol Etrian Odyssey fantasy BUT with a lot of Persona flair. I think Persona 5 has at least ironed out a lot of mechanics that I like (but Im still biased) combat is overall fun with the One More-Baton Pass system but got a bit OP by Royal, I think the Social Link system and dialogues are fine. The rewards given are unbalanced which makes some characters more sought out than others. This feels stupid but I think lowering the threshold of a social link to level up might be nice along with things like getting a reverse social link (given the opportunity that we would have a lot more time in-game) but would also be quite punishing. Showtimes are a lot better than Theurgy only because Showtimes work like P4 Duo Attacks but a lot more controlled and a lot less overpowered? I havent played P3R but a charge up skill thats just like a "get rekt" button feels too strong especially that you the MC can abuse it. Even though you have the choice not to, so it's also not a problem like it's still a game mechanic that a lot people would still use so it would take a lot of balancing (probably in higher difficulties) to iron out if they continue with the Theurgy Route.
