This footage, though at a hideous angle, showed much of what these dancers were like. Thank you very much for posting it. Also, do you know what year it's from?
@@JohnRaymondHall Oh my goodness that is truly wonderful. 💗✨I love your channel. I have noticed that some people that comment , call you by a different name.
There's a charming scene at 1.11 where Fracci turns to look Nureyev in the eyes for a long moment and then walks to downstage left to prepare a pirouette; Nureyev leaves it to the last minute to run fast towards her and support her finish in arabesque 1:22. Thank you for posting this pdd by two unique artists.
No, not unless she looked like someone's dead wife (reference to Nikulina). All jokes aside, she didn't have the technical abilities to be a prima ballerina today.
These comparisons are fraught with difficulties. Fracci was born in 1936. How many Olympic competitors born in that year could technically match today's athletes? We are sensible enough not even to ask the question. I prefer not to ask the question and simply enjoy a dancer's artistry, musicality and the intangible sense of joy felt in the performance. Take a look at Fracci coaching Giselle at La Scala, at the invitation of Manuel Legris, in the year she died 2021 (ruclips.net/video/EmHyTBamb0E/видео.html. Two parts).
her arms movements are dreamy.
I just think this is more than simply technical skills.
agreed! and wonderful in 'Giselle', particularly Act 2

yes, terrible angle - i think from an amateur and it reflects his/her seat in the theatre. the date is 1978
Nureyev was such a wonderful Prince. Thank you for this video, John!

Would she be a principal dancer by today’s standards?

no, and the dancers of today would not be principal dancers in companies of the future - i think one can only judge against contempories
@@JohnRaymondHall thank you for the explanation
@@elizzy8754 nice video with Carla coaching. Thank you so much for sharing.
