At the beginning of play, i don't think it was good strategy to bet half of your bet on the bonus.

As with all the side bets unless you are very lucky they are not worth making. Even with a couple of 12 to 1s early on there was nothing left at the end.

Basic strategy says to double Ace and 8 against a 6 actually. It’s the only dealer card you’d double against with that hand
why r u not counting cards and playing only with strategy card rules? Sometimes there are at least minus ten but your doubling for waiting for 10 or 11

I can't afford to play the bonus with blackjack. Last time I played missed out on a straight flush, pair, and a couple flushes. The table wasn't very happy with me....
The table was not happy with you for money that YOU lost? That has nothing to do with the other players so they have no reason to be unhappy.
Perhaps, you're just saying the other players with sympathetic that you hadn't bet on the bonus, when you got cards that would have paid, had you played, but like @gary lu productions points out... Fuck the other players- it's your money!
