Kinda weird how this movie is about his stalking experience and now fans of the show is stalking the stalker. What an insane world parasocial relationship is.
People going through his history to try to uncover more tea and drama miss the whole point of the show which was to highlight the complexity of mental illness so that we can have more compassion for those going through it, not try to expose and Humiliate them..
If he, the victim, was trying to protect her identity the people should respect that. He wasn’t in love with her…watch the series. In interviews, he says the only part that is not true is what happened to her at the end. He wanted to protect her once again from the public because he realizes she was a sick woman.
He was obsessed with her. Kept all the calls. Been going on about her for years. Wanking over her image. Can only have sex thinking of her. Most of the show was made up. He’s sold his soul. And is clearly a terrible person. Only he knows who he shagged to get into the finals of comedy competitions while being very unfunny
You are also missing another bigger question which is... you were only granted his point of view. What if the events actually played differently? We don't know that, and that's why I am not watching the show, because after reading the plot and finding out this was based in a real story, I could see this going south real bad, and apparently some people have already figured out who the main antagonist of the show is in RL, and she is now getting death threats, and even considering legal action. People should be a bit more mindful in knowing what they are consuming. I'm sure that given the opportunity to tell her story, the antagonist would tell a very different tale... But instead, she is now being judged in the court of public opinion, just for "entertainment" purposes.

Also, one sided or not the fact is she was previously charged with stalking by 1 if not 2 other people. Knowing that alone indicates that he WAS telling the truth. If he wanted to lie he would have made himself look a whole lot better in the series. Most all true/life/autobiographies throughout history are one sided. Even history books are written only telling one side of the story. I’m sure you have watched plenty during your life time. He did this not for ‘entertainment value’ but to make others aware of the dangers of stalking and how difficult it is to get help when you report it. Too many people are killed every year because people don’t take stalking victims seriously until someone is dead. She is trying to tell a different side of the story. That’s what stalkers do. Considering her past criminal record of stalking…I highly doubt he was lying. Reading the things she has said, it is obvious she should have been hospitalized at least one of the times she was arrested for stalking.
But the fact that the real Martha revealed herself, tells me all that I need to know of her. She really does need help. Richard Gadd cared enough to hide her identity.
She really, really made this show. Truly brilliant. It's acting that I haven't seen in a very long time. You could feel her expressions immediately and I indeed felt sorry for Martha several times.
She was incredible. I hope her career really takes off. She had a way of portraying all these different emotions in one scene where you felt sorry for her one minute and extremely scared of her the next.

She isn’t the antagonist. A big message of the show is that she was failed by the system and due to her rough upbringing she grew easily attached. The antagonist was Darrien because he has power and chose to abuse it.
To some degree Richard is also the antagonist because he had the power and lead her on/ enabled the behaviour on multiple occasions because he enjoyed the validation.

He was drawn to the attention she gave him. Due to his vulnerability he fell victim of his own acts. He was not in love with her, but could not let go of that situation that kept his mind busy.
Well it seems like his coworkers and all of them knew he was raped by that older guy, he needed to seek help then idk why he got involved with either of those women. Slept with both of them at the same time. It was just hard to watch every choice he made was unsafe. That Martha targeted him because of that and he just idk lol that’s when he should have went to his parents
