- Before hunting season goes into full swing, I head out to another lake that I've been eyeing for a while now. It's a multispecies lake so I expected to catch some decent fish, but instead, I was met with tough fishing and small fish. Nonetheless, the scenery was all worth it.

ABOUT ME
My name is Samong, and I am an avid outdoorsman who creates hunting and other outdoor videos on RUclips. My videos primarily consist of what Eastern Washington has to offer hunters, fishermen, and other outdoor enthusiasts, but when opportunities arise, I will wonder outside of Washington for more outdoor adventures. Regardless of where I am, I strive to entertain, teach, and inspire my viewers to get outside and enjoy the outdoors.
There’s something peaceful about going outdoors and enjoying a nice meal.
I've spent alot of time in the mountains, try down sizing your lures, I use 1/16 0z or 1/8 oz Spinners, when it's super sunny, try dark colors, when the sun is high, I always use white or red..
The other thing to try is smaller spoons..
My favorite is flies and a clear bobber, you can get bobbers that you add water to make it heavier..
I guess what I'm saying is go small, it will pay off in those high lakes.
Looks so relaxing and calming besides the mosquitoes.
You should come to Oregon and catch some huge sturgeon in this little creek I know it would make for a great video I’m in Portland
When I was younger I went camping up in the high mountains and normally fish in the morning during the morning bite and then hit it again in evening for late evening bite !!! You got this homie 👍🏻👍🏻
You need something like the Alpaca pack raft Caribou. 5lbs, rolls upto the size of a roll of paper towels. You will love it, will change your world as far as what is accessible.
Thore rubber doughnut things on your oar shafts, they go inboard of the oar holders(so your oars wont slide out into water)
Another great video!
I've been eyeing those Alpack Rafts too. Certainly pricey, but might come in handy especially for hunting!
That’s what life’s about!! Another awesome video!
Awesome video love them all!!! When are the scouting videos coming out can't wait!👍🏼😀💯
Onions, meat and rice. always the move!
I’m totally watching your video right now! And all the awesomeness that it will entail! Thanks for your hard work on this video brother! I know your hunting season is going to be phenomenal and I hope it’s the same for your family as well. Keep grinding on the outdoor life! -pnwfullstop
Cool boat and bag.
Idk what's better, being out in my Pack Fish 7 or watching you out on your Pack Fish 7, lol. Just something about being out in nature and taking in the view. love the vids, keep em coming.
I wish I was you right now! I'm loving these videos! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
Love watching your videos, very peaceful, I was just at the potholes at Moses lake by myself caught a smallmouth bass bluegill perch and Croppie, lots of fun, thank you for helping me get out ✌️
Black and white rooster works good there
Sam, you should be using an extra wide gap finesse hook for wacky rig. The extra wide gap work hook is great for Texas rig . Clear water off of major points the drop shot will be your fish finder. Good luck, love your content.
Love your vids. One of the only RUclipsrs out of the hundreds I follow that I turn on notifications for 👍
Dude you are living the dream my man. I am hooked on your videos these catch and cook vids are literally how I want to live my life haha. Keep up the excellent content sir!
Tighten that drag 🤙
Bro I just ordered the same stove. Try using the frying pan made by Stanley. The bottom of the frying pan has a 2 layer base and it helps distribute the heat. It’s also made for backpacking. Good vid man!
We need more collabs with NW fishing secrets
That NOTORIOUS CUSTOM JIG though!!!
Awesome Video! Thanks for uploading. Can't wait to see more 👍
Awesome, sometime just enjoying the view is worth a million dollars
Nice invisible trout you caught! I saw it goes into your net and that was all she wrote.
Dude, its 105 plus in NV. The only thing to catch is a tan and a buzz. Tight lines brother.
Great video as usual! Keep up the great work!!
I don’t think you can afford to bring a smaller pan with that appetite of yours! Haha. But us skinny guys gotta eat so no hate lol. Great video as always and looking forward to the next one!
If it were me I would use a number 60 hot shot black speckle and or rooster tail you can cover a lot of water with those lures.
Living the life. Should go for a swim sometimes too lol
Great video again I like the way you didn't kill a small fish just to make a video. So keep up the great work on your videos and keep them coming
Brook trout and a dang good shore lunch👍
Great fishing! I'm waiting for more of your hunting videos this season bro! I am from California!
Very informative videos. +1 subscriber. Thanks for not playing a bunch of annoying music. You got the gift, my friend.
Places you fish at seem so peaceful. Maybe I’ll take a trip there to fish with you. :)
Wonderful video, Sir!
That brook trout would look great in my fish tank
Can you recommend the Packfish boat after having used it? The portability looks second to none and that's what makes it so enticing. Super tempted to pick one up just to putz around the local lakes around my area and finally get off the bank. Love your content brother, keep it up!
Fishing is slow all over the NW..I went to 2 lakes this weekend..only got a handful of bluegills and a couple trout..summer sucks lol
I like watching your videos. Come to the BWCA and explore when you got time.
Amazing lunch ✊🏼💯
Hopefully you're strapped man. Going solo is always risky....js awesome video tho..
Dude I recommend you getting into flyfishing it’s a whole different world of trout fishing.
in the beginning of the video when you're unpacking the raft . on your back pack is that a pistol holster attached to the side where the pack would be on your side hip
Yes it is. That's where my handgun would be when I'm hiking in or out. When I'm in the boat, that position is out of reach so I put it somewhere else where I can easily grab if I need to.
@@SamongOutdoors i thought it was !!! smart to carry while fishing / hiking in those areas . I've been trying to find a good pack that has a holster option on it . if you don't mind what brand pack is that
@@dizthamiz6209 I think any backpack with a hipbelt that has attachment straps/velcro will work. This is the Exo Mountain Gear K2 3500 pack. It's my hunting pack that I just double for this.
@@SamongOutdoors gotcha brotha thank you !!!!! I'm gonna check this out
Hey brother are you just out an about in the Colville Forest up north of Newport? Or which direction you heading? I'm looking for a new peaceful spot to check out.
I've found a few gems north of Newport, but want to reach out to new species.
God bless brother! Great video and I look forward to the next.
Just up by Colville here
Fish on boys
Love the videos Samong keep it up :)!!!
Great video
Awesome 🎣
You forgot the live bait! You would’ve def caught more fish with some crawlers and shiners.
Can you use live minnows now in Washington State?
Melvin Dunn I forgot there’s different regulations than here in CT.
I really like your vids, I just discovered them a couple days ago, im interested in buying a seagar 7 , i see thats what you have, im a little nervous about a inflatable going down "sinking" could you give me some comments o that issue with this seagar?
I feel like fly fishing would be key at that lake.
That's exactly what I was thinking too when I was trying to figure out this lake!
@@SamongOutdoors should give it a try next time.
great video bro
How are you liking the pack boat?
Im new to your channel and idk if you’re in Seattle or Oregon , nonetheless it’s beautiful out there. ❤️ from the east coast!
Another great video , what kind of oil do you use when cooking outdoors , just normal vegetable oil?
Let’s gooo new video 🔥
Ilove ur vids. Hi from brazil... Soon 🇺🇸
You're a treat to watch! I learn so much just watching you fish.
Loving the output recently, but I haven't been a big fan of opening your videos with a fish-on hookset. I feel like your channel is more relaxing and educational unlike some of the louder "extreme" videos that litter my feed. I like the fishing, but more importantly, I like watching YOU.
I would rather you start the video with you just quietly packing your gear, since I believe it fits your personality way more than "watch the exciting catch you GOTTA see!??!" style.
Thanks for another great video, keep up the good work!
Appreciate the feedback!!
Another fun video bro! What brand is your boat?
It's the Sea Eagle Packfish 7 Pro
Samong Yang Outdoors thanks bro i found it in the description after I commented
Seaeagle 7 i mean
Damn bro. U got 28k follower....how your sturgeons taste?
The sturgeon has been excellent!
Do you bring protection when you're out in the woods.
Always.
When u say protection do you mean like weapons or mosquitoes sprays?
Because I don't take anything with me I don't know if I should start?
What kind of backpack is that?
Exo Mountain Gear K2 3500
Is all good with deer’s meat yummy 😋!
Would you recommend buying the pack fish 7 still? Do you still use it pretty often
I only recommend it if you need something light, packable, and portable and relatively cheap. If you can haul something bigger and afford something more expensive, I would look at something that can mount a trolling motor. But for what the packfish is, it has it's uses and purpose. I'm just waiting for the weather to get nicer to use it again.
Is this a coastal mountain lake? This looks like a coastal lakes around Vancouver BC metro and southern Vancouver Island low level hills
Nah, it's just an inland mountain lake.
What type of raft/boat is that??
Sea Eagle Pack Fish 7 Pro.
Samong Yang Outdoors thanks
Man i was expecting he catch n cook the fish on this video disappoint
Haha, that's why I didn't put "Catch, Clean, Cook" in the title. I'll try for and get one next time.
What kind of backpack is that? Are you happy with it? Things you don’t like about it?
It's an Exo Mountain Gear K2 3500 pack. It's my hunting pack that I just double for this. It's the most comfortable pack I have ever used, but I might get a frame designated for packing my boat.
Samong Yang Outdoors Thank you!
is this up hwy 20?
You scouting or going velvet deer hunting?
Solid video Samong, how did u get water in boat? Was it a leak?
I'm not sitting where I'm supposed to be sitting on the boat. With how I'm sitting, I'm putting more weight on one end of the boat so the stitching submerges underwater. If I sat how it was designed, the stitching would not be submerged, in which, water would not be able to get in.
@@SamongOutdoors got ya! Stay safe man, dont want u to drown. Also the camera work was really solid on this video
Mind sharing what location? or general location? Great video..
Coffin Lake
I Like camping in that area but Lake Thomas is crowded this time of the year. I go up there for the dirtbike trails. There are so many fishing opportunities in Idaho. Out of state license costs a lot but it may be worth your while to make more videos.
nice place why you dont camp at them nice lakes
Just don't have time.
Bro I would’ve cooked them trouts for sure
i dont think you know how to fish lol, its all wrong here
Never knew there was such a thing as a right and wrong way to fish!
At least he's out doing and learning which is more than most.
@@SamongOutdoors are you seriously?
I'm as serious as can be. Legal/illegal, that's one thing. But considering everything is legal, I don't know that there's such a thing as right or wrong way to fish. Better ways to fish? Sure. Right or wrong? Nope.
@@SamongOutdoors yea ok, I wrote it in wrong way, my bad
Great video .
