Yes your right!! Great video and the weather behaved too, you were lucky. I saw her on falmouth line years ago, she is a sight to behold. Thanks for sharing👌
7029 was built in 1950, then the double chimney was fitted later. It took the last scheduled steam train out of Paddington and went directly into preservation after 15 years in service. There was a batch of BR built Castles which had a short working life. Shocking waste. There was a rumour that 30 new Castles were built in the late 1950s as the dieselisation programme was such a flop. This might refer to very thorough overhauls at Swindon near the end of steam The 70xx Castles should have been in service until 1980 but the Western in particular was hit by a mad rush for dieselisation which turned out very expensive.
Nice to see, thanks 😊
Much appreciated
Beautiful departure, light, exhaust, sound. Loved the quick tour of Salisbury too!
Thanks, Glad you enjoyed it, I’m trialing it for future films.
Great video and thanks for sharing. Dave

Thank you!
Iconic locomotive, it’s a shame she isn’t In GWR livery..
Still a smart loco though

@@physiocrat7143 Yes but it was an GWR locomotion nevertheless…
Where was it turned?
Clun Castle made a 3 point turn with the consist, just outside of Fisherton tunnel.

The start towards London is challenging. One wet evening a watched an S15, take a train out with not a slip.
