So beautiful, Ray & Julio! I only wish the sound quality of the recording was a little better. (It couldn't capture the high quality of Ray and Julio's sound)
and props to the audience who didn't start clapping right away but did hold the tension until ray and julio released it. This are the moments I always look for - those seconds right after a breathtaking performance where the tension is still physically in the air, the sound still silently vibrating and everyone holding their breath.. SO SO glad that not one person broke the spell.
Someone clapping AFTER a piece is done isn't inconsiderate. YOU just want that extra couple seconds of silence. You don't dictate concert etiquette for what not to do after a piece is done lol. Coughing/ sneezing during the performance, cell phones not turned off, people clapping before the piece is over is inconsiderate.
Shawn Mitchell Not dictating, just admiring an audience who loves music in the same way as he/she. (I prefer it the same way, think it’s more enjoyable if the last sound can lingering a second before applauding.)
@@xandraxandra1437 that's all fine an dandy until you call those people inconsiderate based on your own standards. That in itself is rude to insinuate.

I was in this concert!! They did 4 encores and after the concert they hugged, took selfies, and signed Ray's CD for everyone who was in line. I have so much respect for this sincere and passionate violinist. He smiled the whole time even though I imagine he would have been super tired... Ray's the best :) Julio is too!

I’ve just bought tickets to his concert in Brisbane next year in August! And I’m sitting in the front row right in front of him and I’m literally so excited. Ray Chen is the person that changed my life. He inspired me so much and would be where I am today if it wasn’t for him. I probably wouldn’t be playing violin, I wouldn’t be perusing music. Music is my entire life, I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for Ray Chen so there’s almost no chance he will see this but if he does: Ray Chen, thank you so much for changing my entire world!
Jesus will change your life! Ray Chen is just a man and music is ephemeral. I love music and I'm a violinist as well, but never I have felt so complete after I gave my life to Christ. Think about it, He loves you :-)
When I saw the title I was a bit nervous because of how expressive Clair de Lune is- but he killed it! Reawakened my love for God!! He’s truly a hard worker
The last time i cried because of violin playing is when i watched the recordings of Tchaikovsky violin concerto and now this. I felt so much emotion in this video 😭😭
For me this piece is for our mothers. Its like the story of a mom who devotes her time in taking care of her children. She pours so much love to her children to become a lovable person as well. At the end part of the piece is when the mother set her children free like letting her children to have there own family. But still guiding her children every step of there lives until her last breath. 😊
Someone print this and frame it and send it to me for Christmas, please. Oh and somehow add Ray's playing in the background too please while you're at it. Lol.
Actually, ‘Clair de lune’ takes its title from an atmospheric poem by the French poet Paul Verlaine which depicts the soul as somewhere full of music ‘in a minor key’ where birds are inspired to sing by the ‘sad and beautiful’ light of the moon. But, if you think of mothers and their children when you hear it, that's fine, too.
And then 3 generations of her descendants (her middle-aged children, her young adult grand-children, and her little great-grand-children) gather by her beside to honour her and show her all that she has accomplished.
You know... I listened to this with my eyes closed before sleeping and at the end when I didn’t hear any clapping I was confused... I thought the video had ended so I kept eyes shut and had been startled by an unexpected cheer from the audience 5 seconds after the piece was over. Truly wonderful
i usually prefer the piano-only arrangement of clair de lune because i always felt that having another instrument play the melody was not fitting, but this. this. this is incredible. ray’s interpretation and musicality is perfect-impossible to match. julio plays with such fluidity and gentleness. it all comes together so beautifully. this performance brought several tears to my eyes, which i was not expecting. ray and julio sound amazing together!
