Ed Diaz on his A- game today..That .was a thorough demonstration of the V Stage. He even mke me wanna purchase one right now....its over a thousand dollars cheaper than the Nord.
Gotta say though, the combination of great sounds, integrated multi channel audio interface, Mainstage controlling, 4 pedal inputs etc at that price is very competitive.

The V Piano sounds are the piano sounds in the V Stage. It's not just any piano sounds -- not standard or Supernatural. There's full polyphony in the Organ and Piano sections. The E Piano/Clav are Supernatural sounds 256 note polyphonic and the synth section is Zencore 256 polyphonic.

Ed is worth his weight in Gold helped me a lot I'm a no body. Live streams are incredible and other Roland support nothing is better . This board kicks ass. I don't need it I have a Fantom 07 for over a year I've learnt so much from Ed and playing with the board they fixed a few issues too which is great the synth engine once you start to tweak is incredible. Massive fat analog in a minuted I created a massive Polymoog that people can't believe I've probably touched 2 percent of this board the new board looks like it is similar but really thought out to Kill the N in some areas can't wait to try it in the shop. The decay on the piano someone demoed it's evolvinging still after 30 seconds nothing like that out there
Being a music Nerd - tthese were to details i was witing to hear which separates this unit from the Red one Timestamp (10:44) is what i was waiting to hear ( duo midi outs with MSB and LSB scene syncing) - Plus the ability to use your DAW thru the Sub Outs for live show purposes.
you actually get the new german grand piano too which is a huge upgrade from the v piano sounds. I have it on the fantom and it feels miles ahead i cant understand why its not on startup patch instead of the v
Ed Diaz is a beast on the keys and his product knowledge is on point. There's nothing magical about a Nord. For that matter, there's nothing magical about a Roland. It all boils down to who you are, what you're looking for, and what tickles your fancy more. If I were cross shopping this and the Nord, I'd likely pick the Roland on value alone but I'm not a performer so this isn’t my type of keyboard. I'd go for a cheaper stage piano for practice and put the rest in a K2700.
Would be cool to have the full fanton 8 ex with the controls of Vstage. They are so close to the ultimate workstation/gig beast to kill all boards. Still Roland will always be my fave. Jupiter 80 was a beast. Highly underrated.
I really like it so far it has crazy features I just want to know if you can add bass pedals to it for organ….that would make it a one stop shop for me
Midi input bass pedals are just a midi keyboard controller he mentioned multiple external keyboards maybe one for an ep or other synths the zencore timesv2vin this is amazing what sounds you can get all the Jupiter analog I made a Polymoog sound like Gary Newman in less than a minute everytime I choose it it still blows everyone including me away

Roland needs to make a board with 4 engines alongside their organ: the MKS 20, SH 101, JV Series, and 808. They will probably never do it, but I would spend 4 grand on it
I’m not a fan at all of the PHA4 action (compared to the PHA50) but maybe they went that way to keep the weight more reasonable for travel. Either way this no longer can compare to Nord in my opinion because I LOVE nords action
I have read the manual and watched hours of video. I own a Stage 4, I will buy this. Chief reasons, VDU its so much more clear and intuitive. I don't like the Nord pianos - squeezing quality into 1 gb total storage on the Nord is just silly. The Ep piano hardware is more conprehensive, and although I am no syth player, I thin the synth is better. The organ, from the samples I have heard, sounds better too. I have not played it. The allocation of pedals seems easier, more flrexible, in fact it all seems easier. Apparently the waterfall keys of the 72 are new tech, we don't know too much yet. I had a pha 3 and it was wonderful. I don't know about Pha 4, apparently it comes in different versions, but is on budget lines already. I do know that the curve can be tweaked on a per acoustic piano or per EP basis - which is his good
I bought a Stage 4 a week ago. I thought about getting a V Stage to compare but the Anderton’s head to head video convinced me otherwise. The V Stage is great on paper but I vastly preferred the Nord piano sounds. That and the Nord can play samples. Highly recommend checking out that video. If you dig the V Piano sound, I think it’s a great deal. Either way, glad Nord has some competition. Users will benefit.
Roland should have excluded that drawbar sliders by shrinking the organ module and extended the piano module for 88 version and keep the price of 76 and 88 versions similar in the end.
Nice video, well done. Would your choice change if the Stage 4 were roughly the same price as the V-Stage ? In Europe there is only a ~180€ difference between both. What particularily surprises me is the lack of even a basic arp and most importantly sample and multisample playback + use of the huge Nord sound library (free !), at this price range.

@ that being said you are right, there is something about the tones and tweaks offered by the V-Stage that I find extremely appealing !.. I also did not mention it, but the weight differs too : almost +5kg for Roland’s 76-key version (73- on Nord’s Stage 4 compact) / +2kg for Roland’s 88-key version. May be of importance for a gigging musician. The Stage 4 compact comes for instance in a “backpack” format soft case that can be easily be carried with both hands free ;)
@@williamshaneblyth actually you can also get these extensions you mention on any Zen Core Roland synth, like the Fantom-0 and even the least expensive recent Juno-D, which offers arp and sampling btw. Therefore I do not quite understand the purpose / edge of the V-Stage. I believe Roland is targeting the US market mostly, as the price difference with Nord competition is significant. Even if the amount of features is reduced, I believe US players will consider it.
@@elijahhultz It’s a popular synth brass patch used by gospel keyboardists. You heard it in the demo; the wild vibrato synth sound. It works on its own, but it’s often layered with a piano patch (acoustic or electric).
Pitch Bend doesn't work on all the patches. But, I'd by that over the Nord anyday. I have the O-series and it let's create playlist with the patches i'm using and save them for show. Can't do that with the nord. The organs leslie sounds way better than the Nord in my opinion. I can layer up to 16 sounds in a scene and can't do that with NORD. The O series is lighter than the V-stage so I own the O series so I'm content.
I was going to save for a Nord, but after watching a demo of this board and the price, I'll get this instead. Nord is still great, but like he said, the price is really what sets this apart

Fantom comes a with larger screen, and similar organ controls. Just seems like if you have a gig and want one for everything, you'll get similar piano and EPs with Fantom, plus waaaaay more synth options.

Smaller footprint, and 2.5kg less on the V stage. For gigging musicians that's important. Of course all the hand on control too, but being able to move more easily is great. Only comparing those two models, lots of lighter options out there
If your main argument as to why somebody should buy this over the Nord is price then you know deep down that this keyboard has fallen short, feature-set wise, to turn the tide against the dominance of Nord on stages around the world.
I’d still stick with my Nord Stage 4-88. It has better piano sounds, phenomenal organ, panel layering, can play samples, has aftertouch, a more dynamic tweakable synth section and an arpeggiator.
Ed covers it all he's the best guy ever he's a total badass and he's so passionate I'm s no body but he helped me personally online when I got my first Roland a fantom 07 it was talking to an old friend
This synth is great however. It comes for me is the piano sound. To each their own. Nord, Yamaha, and the Korg has a better piano sound. Unless you put time into editing the piano sound then maybe. Well then it comes down what your "ear" likes! I also have omnisphere too. All in one keyboard is what we're all looking for but all have its pros and cons. So what are you looking for? Simplicity and fantastic sounds appeals to old wealthy technophobes seems like roland and yamaha are cashing in on that space. I’d buy a flagship fantom instead. Usb c cable length limitations are a nightmare. Usb a could be 5metres easily not usb c. I bought a fantom 0 then spent another $1000 on lifetime model expansions rip off might as well have bought a fantom flagship. 😂 also v stage has pha4 action and fantom flagship has pha5 action. Compared with nord triple sensor delights roland is worlds behind.

Concerning the price argument...the NS4 88 and the V-Stage 88 are priced roughly the same in Sweden...around $4500.

The V-Stage is for people who find the Fantom too complicated to operate. For seasoned musicians the Fantom can do the same as the V-Stage.

No lie I was getting tired of having to cut off the main FX on the keyboard to accommodate my software synths on my iPad and MacBook

There are some Jimmy Smith type organ demos on the site, they sound really good (and are played exceptionally well - but htat is different)

No way all those classic Roland Jupiter 8 and dozens of other synths is worth it just for them

0 series has polyphony issues and I think that's what really holds it back. Also don't really like the Supernatural pianos

The Roland has more sounds. The Nord “that one sound” sounds better.
This synth is great however. It comes for me is the piano sound. To each their own. Nord, Yamaha, and the Korg has a better piano sound. Unless you put time into editing the piano sound then maybe. Well then it comes down what your "ear" likes! I also have omnisphere too. All in one keyboard is what we're all looking for but all have its pros and cons. So what are you looking for? The V Stage has the V Piano engine. You can completely design your own piano sound. It's not sampled based Supernatural or Zen core
@@ReggieBishoptrue but then most people won't have time or know how to properly design their piano patches. Roland need to spend time fine tuning their presets and I think this is where Nord shines.
@@kerylmcjohnson You're acting like the V Stage doesn't have presets. It has presets and effects. Plus you can adjust the stereo spread of the piano sounds.

Unless the new roland boss drops united biscuits’ Gordan Raison’s roland cloud pay monthly greed, you won’t get free sound packs like nord. Simplicity and fantastic sounds appeals to old wealthy technophobes seems like roland and yamaha are cashing in on that space. I’d buy a flagship fantom instead. Usb c cable length limitations are a nightmare. Usb a could be 5metres easily not usb c. I bought a fantom 0 then spent another $1000 on lifetime model expansions rip off might as well have bought a fantom flagship. 😂 also v stage has pha4 action and fantom flagship has pha5 action. Compared with nord triple sensor delights roland is worlds behind.
