In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
I just brought a boat that had the hds 12 but I can’t tell if it’s the carbon or gen 3 Also, Will the 3 in 1 transducer work for either of those units?
G’day from Sydney love the info always get great info n straight forward vids. Cheers mate as I work in retail here n sell these units thru the company I work for. it has made me help others n I also have purchased the live 7 as I couldn’t get over the look of the unit but what it can do and the images are insane.
hey mate, fellow aussie here. keen on getting one of these 7'' hds lives, currently got a 4'' elite or something, and its very hard to use i think its user error on some part but it really struggles to give any picture when running any quicker than a few knots. ive read a few comments here where people are getting good images at a decent pace. bcf have these for around $1400 atm, do u have to add a navionics card? and are they hard to set up i do a bit of offshore work up to 100m, but mainly need something i can chase bait with.
I went from an HDS Gen 2 Touch to a new HDS 12 Live Unit that I ordered from RMP. For me the difference was night and day for my application. I mostly fish water with an average depth of 20 ft or less. I can tell you that from my experience so far with the new HDS live unit and the Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer, that I can clearly see side imaging out to 100-120ft in 5-6 feet of water. I could not see this kind of clarity with my old LSS-2 transducer. I epoxied an 83-200khz Lowrance transducer inside my hull to read bottom at high speeds, but the Active Imaging transducer has not lost bottom yet up to 47mph. My boat has a rear step hull, and I have my AI transducer mounted a little lower than the very bottom of the hull. I know that this is not recommended, but I can scan with side and down imaging in the mid 20 mph range on plane, and this is why I have it mounted a little lower than the very bottom of the hull. It works for my setup and application, but it may not work for everyone. The upgrade to the HDS Live unit and the Active Imaging transducer was worth it to me, but if you have a Carbon unit, you may only want the Active Imaging transducer and the software update. I will say that I have had the HDS Live unit to shutdown and restart a couple of times when I pressed one of the quick access keys. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this yet. Other than that, I am a satisfied customer with RMP, and the HDS 12 Live unit. Justin was extremely helpful when I called him to ask him some questions before I bought the new HDS Live unit from him.
I’m wondering when the lowrance update for the carbons (18.3) will be available so i can interface with the active imaging 3in1 transducer?? No indication in the lowrance website unfortunately. Anyone know when?
I just bought an 07 comanche. It has a hds (gen 3) 7 and 9 networked. Is the difference so much better that I should upgrade, or is it a preference thing? I was looking to upgrade the 7 at the console with a larger one if it's woth it.
What is the difference from the 7, on eBay they sell them with the ducer and without for about the same price. I don’t get it so please explain this to me. Thanks.
I have 2 Carbon12s and the 3D StructureScan Module/transducer...if I upgrade to the Live transducer will that give me what I need to use livesight when it is released or should I wait and make sure there isn’t going to be a different transducer that I need? thanks
So Carbons are obsoleted , I am so confused . So you have to buy the Live units from now on? I need some help . Will the active imagine be sent to you free once they are release ? Any 12" carbons for sale for $299
There are always some folks who want something for "free." When you buy a new car, if there's a new option include the following year, do you get it for "free?"
@@kmasmith0995 It does not say carbon for $299 @ 2:20 in the video. He clearly says the active imaging transducer is $299, not a carbon. Actually, I'm reading your comment where you say "free" - you said: "Will the active imagine be sent to you free once they are release?" Free? No hardware is "free."
Hi Russell... I am new to your channel so I am bit late on this reply from your original posting. I have been thinking about replacing my Lowrance Elite-5 HDI unit as my transducer just went bad so I am juggling on just buying the replacement part or upgrade to another Lowrance HDS 7 unit. You said in the video that carbon units are being replaced by the new Live units so I wonder if it a good idea to spend $1K. I didn't know that they were getting discontinued so I was thinking about getting one, but I am having second thoughts. Your feedback is much appreciated. Thank you..
So in order to get the benefit of the Live units...people will need to buy a new transducer? I have Gen 3 12. How many transducers does a boat need? The totalscan was introduced as all in one......it's not all in one. I have to switch transducers for readings on bottom at high speeds, but then again when I ask help with this stuff no one seems to show up.
Total scan works at high speed. You need to adjust it. Make sure it's below the hull so not to cavitate. Small window of work and not. Mine works at 68mph. Don't give up.
Does the live transducer have to be purchased seperate? ($999)If so must i pick either or between the 3 in 1 or can i install both?.... im really new to all this. I want the live feature ordered the hds7 with the 3 in 1 tranducer so not sure what else i may need for the live imaging
Google - "Garmin, Navico strike cross-licensing agreement, ending 3-year legal battle". From what I understand, LiveSight is Panoptix technology won as part of the settlement.
Not currently - Lowrance has published 18.2 for older units to make them compatible with HDS Live units. Just installed my HDS Live 9 and upgraded my Gen3 to 18.2. So far they communicate perfectly and waypoints transferred on their own from Gen3 to HDS Live. Trails did not migrate.
The quad core processor exists with different frequency btw. So that means nothing in this case. At the same time I suppose the lowrance application wasn't adapted for the quad core as well. This is just one "new" marketing feature. IMHO
I'm still on the fence about getting this now. I currently have a Gen 2 and it does what I need for now. I'm really interested in LiveSight. Do you know when they will have more information about LiveSight? Do you know if LiveSight will work on Carbon units?

With the Carbon update 18.3 do a comparison with the 3in1 active imaging transducer vs. 3D transducer and module. Thanks Justin!
I second this, please do a comparison of these 2 options.
Please compare hds live vs the pro like this
*Looks good even in daylight **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it was exactly what it was described to be , works awesome , overall happy with product*
Only the 12 & 16 Lives have.quad core processors. The 7 & 9’s are dual core 🎣
Doesnt look like they even cared to correct that. So the statement of honesty is clearly out the window

Why wont they come out with a side scan that does Fish Reveal? All ive seen on the "Fish Reveal" is down scan?
I can't seem to get my chartplotter programed correct... HELP...it says password... where is the password..
When he cursed I was surprised... lol great video man great info

Can I use 3-1 transducer with hds9 gen3?
Will I see a difference in side scan and down scan from elite ti2 to carbon both using the same 3 in 1 active
Carbon has a higher resolution screen
Is $1500.00 as good price for a Carbon 12?
хорошая цена даже за использованый.

7” and 9” don’t have quad-core CPU.
You are right. Only the 12 and the 16 will be shipping out with quad-core CPU.
