You’re a fucking stud coach Ramsey! Bjj black belt and huge fan of your channel.
You're no slouch yourself sir👊
He is! But so are you sir!

Thought he and Gordon Ryan were friends. 😎😎
When I wrestled collegiate, I was so blind/ignorant to the PED usage going on. Even heard of coaches that recommended their athletes to take them and I still didn't believe it was so rampant in sports at the collegiate level. Fast forward many years later, some of my old high school homies were just casually exchanging info on the kinds of steroids they were on. Not judging. I respect their honesty, but it made me realize that if they're just using it as enthusiastic lifters, not even competing, then forsure it's happening in professional sports. Especially when there's money on the line.
I was so oblivious in that aspect until recently hahah
I agree with Joe Rogan. There should be a roided league and a natural league in sports 😂
I agree until the last sentence. Because a “natural” league will not work and will only create an uneven playing field. Athletes already get around drug testing anyways and find a way to cheat. If you have a steroid league, and a natural league, it won’t take long before athletes who cannot compete at the steroid league will switch to the natural leagues and begin taking steroids to have an advantage, which eventually would cause all other athletes to take steroids as well in order to stand a chance. A perfect example of this, is in the sport of bodybuilding. Bodybuilding already has a “natural” class, but every single dude in that class is on steroids, they are just not as big as the guys in the open class or even classic physique, but they are definitely not natural. And let’s not forget, not every sporting company, or sporting event, has the money to afford a drug testing organization like USADA, so a lot of their drug tests are not as comprehensive, or as often occurring; in other words, they are not getting tested like ufc fighters are. So, in my opinion, having a natural league is a waste of time, which will only create unfairness, so the best solution that I can see is to just allow steroids in sports and that’s it. Make it all legal and fair game. And if you think about it, if steroids were to be legal, not only will all athletes be on the same page, but research on steroids will continue, which can result in scientists developing safer steroids with less side effects.
@@robinmorales5365 I was semi joking and reiterating what Joe Rogan said but I agree with what you said hearing it like that. Makes complete sense
@@tairapeace yeah no worries mate, but you’ll be surprised how many people are oblivious to this.
Galvao looks ridiculous. Like a cloud made of muscle. Aside from adding strength, PEDs let these guys train 2x as much as normal people. That’s the biggest advantage they give.
Yeah Galvao looks like a freak, I couldn’t even believe Gordon could find a neck to choke
Cmon he is a one fc fighter.
This ! No one talks about recovery
Exactly!! I train everyday and by Friday I can feel the stress of the week. No way you can train 2 hours everyday against world class grapplers and be ok with it like it’s nothing. The more you train the better you get, it’s that simple.
And recover faster
This is the most authentic commentary I’ve seen on this subject Thanks !
I really appreciate someone who isn't scared to talk the truth about people in his Industry, not many people do these days
firas, i love your contributions to the sport. if i may make a suggestion: you should know that the SM7b is not a side-address mic. you’d get a lot better audio if you adjust the mic so that the top of the mic is squarely to your mouth.
wow I didn't know that! thanks for the heads up ❤
Nice work
Meanwhile, no one talks about it. Even when they talk about it, it's in the most general way like in this video (understandable). I think one of the Ruotolo's said something along the lines of: "Most people at ADCC use PEDs, we're not." Then again, they train at Atos which is irony at its best.
It’s gross man.
The casual acceptance of it.
Whats happened to morals & ethics?
Calling cheaters great, absolutely crazy.
If you can’t do it naturally, probably shouldn’t be doing it, but what do I know?
Are you insinuating Galvao isn't naturale? But I heard he does pushups
@@lamborghinileglock8412 my friend its a bit late in the day to be calling athletes cheaters for doing peds, top athletes have been doing them since the 70s, it will never ever change , peds able athletes to become better athletes. Can you tell me of one mma fighter that died from steroids? Maybe an Olympic runner? Or a Olympic weight lifter? You get my point buddy, the only guys that like get serious side effects are heavy weight professional bodybuilders.
@@thehomefront1905 thats so untrue. PED’s have insane long and short term negative effects concerning hormone regulation, bloodwork, muscular system connections (bone-tendon), etc. trying to frame PED’s as benign/neutral is ignorant at best

PEDs are Everywhere especially in combat sports as Diaz always said "Everyone is on steroids"
I am a former professional fighter that was taking steroids for bodybuilding training, before I began training in martial arts.
I actually stopped taking them thanks to me training and competing in combat sports!
I guess I did it the wrong way for performance, but the right way morally.
I will say, I always felt like the juice had always given me an advantage, especially when I first got started in training.
Even years after stopping the Peds completely.
I still only have to pick up weight and my muscles grow!
I have little or no regrets about Peds, because it was a part of my personal journey at that time.
Like I said, thanks to combat sports I actually stopped taking them.
Still, I have always remained curious about things might have been and development had I not ever taken steroids?
Great content from Firas
Thanks for keeping it 100 and not ducking the question.
Thank you coach for the truth
Well Said, you are 100% right
The truth! My man. 💪💖
Thank you … someone needed to say this …
Realistically if you want to be the absolute winner, you’re going to need the edge. It’s not just a small advantage.
The true test of a persons ability in competition is being natty
Thank you for speaking honestly about this sham culture!
The sauce has been a problem since the early 2000’s . I lived and trained in Brazil in 2005 and almost everybody was on it especially the Europeans (they were so juiced it was insane). I would repeatedly get them in fully stretched out arm bars and they would just bicep curl me up to standing and bounce me off my head. It was part of the reason I lost hope in ever making career out of BJJ.
🤔 I dont believe you.

Good on you for giving people good advice about taking these cancerous drugs. Its saddening to see what is happening in this sport. This is also why I love Ruotolo brothers. Their voice on it is amazing.
Test isn't cancerous it can save lifes, if you had no testosterone you'd kill yourself

I don't use PEDS and I've learned ALOT from Gordon's instructionals. It works. Not because he juices. It literally just flat out works.
The half guard passing system has been a God send to me. Once I get all the right grips and the position is mechanically perfect, the Jiu-jitsu just speaks for itself.
I think the PEDS probably helps him most with recovery so he can train like a madman. But in terms of his Jiu-jitsu skill. There's no question he's the best.
Respect to you martial, but saying 'I dont use peds' to begin the comment looks suspect as my man. Makes you look like you're denying something that hasn't been brought up. Always enjoyed your content bro. No disrespect intended.

PED use follows an old pattern, Icarus flying too close to the sun, hubris leading to nemesis, a sharp rise followed by a steep fall.
I used to CrossFit to condition for off-season wrestling. The CrossFit community including myself tried to not believe every athlete was on PEDs, and then I realized a lot of wrestlers were on steroids. Wrestlers are prone to this cus all the wrestling is counterproductive to strength training. They can’t lift weights all the time, mainly due to injury or wear down, so what do they do? You guessed it.
Frank stallone?
Yup. I'm currently competing in wrestling at a national level in my country as well. And even though my coach wants me to compete internationally, I don't want to go against guys who are on PEDs.
I once trained with a man who was obviously on the juice and he was a machine: he never tired and was able to be explosive for the entire session. The disadvantage of a natty in combat sports is HUGE.
I used to CrossFit a lot and myself and everyone else who was fairly serious about it in the CrossFit community used PED’s. lol
@@Juventudguerrera1687 don’t ever tell anyone about that again. Crossfit is hay replacing the h with a G. All you guys do is conditioned half reps, and still get gassed out.
@@jayt.223as a former college wrestler I’m telling you crossfit is hard work. Regular gym people are lazy af and hang out on the smith machine. I went to CrossFit to condition and work.
Word!
Need a natural and juicejitsu division at this point.
They're just fighting fire with fire at this point lol
The gentle art 8s now the juicer art at the top level.
I use to train at a school where PEDs was the norm. I was one of the few that didn't believe in PEDS. Luckily I was always I was always somewhat genetically blessed and strong as a grappler. So I never felt I had to use PEDS. But I always felt a half of a step behind the guys who were geared up to the eyeballs. Theres a big difference between natural and PEDS. and like you said, I felt at that gym it was cheap jujitsu I was learning because even the head instructor was on PEDS. Needless to say I only trained there for 3 months and then I was out.

Roger Gracie, Ribeiro brothers, Ciao Terra, all clean
Guarantee 70 percent of grappler in adcc are on juice. One that you can tell real good is. Nick Rodriguez look at nick 6 months to a year back , then look at him on day of adcc competition
Isaac Doederlein is one of the few competitors I know for a fact is natty.
Dude one instructor said if your not cheating you will never win 🏆
ADCC was as saucy as 90's MMA
Adcc has always been saucy
@@nickrodriguez3850 so was mma and other sports or diciplines before proper regulation and enforcement. Saucy sports are a joke - especially in 2022.
As Nate Diaz remarked regarding the question of steroids in MMA, "They're ALL on steroids." UFC 196 Press conference with Conor McGregor.....
Yeah, Kade ripped that heel hook. But if you're gonna have a chance of catching Mica with one of those you better rip it or there's no way you're getting the sub. It's the ADCC finals, gotta go hard.
Wasn’t it a straight foot lock
Watched the super fight yesterday and Galvao is one of the most juicy people I've ever laid eyes on. His head looked like it was on the front of his shoulders. If anything it's just not being a good advocate for bjj which is kinda famous for arguing that it's more about technique than strength and guys can beat people bigger than them. Like ok do that then, would be great for the sport.
Everyone defending peds in MMA always say steroids don't teach you how to kick. No but you can throw it with more power and you can train that kick all day and not get tired like a normal person.
This makes Marcelo Garcia so much more amazing
Couldn’t agree with what he said more. Jiu jitsu has the most because it’s the least regulated that’s why it’s got the most. Nobody’s testing so everyone is. Except the brothers he mentioned. My question is are they cutting off they’re shitty 80-90 years or are they aging themselves super fast
I'd be very surprised if professional athletes were not using PEDs not the other way round. Most people in commercial gyms nowadays use let alone professionals whose livelihood depends on it.
Wonder what the effect of PEDs are on movement efficiency of some of these guys who became significantly more bulky over the years. Compared to when they were younger do they move as well? All those muscles also require oxygen....
As we can see the gray hair creeping in on your beard do you ever consider using some TRT to keep your levels up ?
Respect
What an enticing title.
The most fans on ped’s were at the ADCC 2022.
Thank you coach! We share very similar views on this and I’ve always felt like a bit of an outcast for my views on PEDs. It’s a relief to hear someone so high level express these beliefs. I’d be so mad even if I found out my gym partners were on PEDs. I love bjj but I’m very prone to injuries and always have been. Why should I risk my brittle-ass body training with cheaters?
The only exception I make is for older people using TRT to get roughly in the ballpark of an 18 to 25yr old’s testosterone levels. As long as it’s a normal test ratio I say go nuts old man. No reason older people should have to stop having fun in bjj class
Lmao just eat raw liver bro
Your body wouldn't be so brittle if you would just take peds lol
@@edmonddantes563 I do 😈
Edit: well, medium rare 😏
a 60yr old man wanting the testosterone level of a 18yr old isnt normal just because you want to build more muscle than a person should be able to at that age. Thats a weird ass belief that you cant have "fun" doing bjj if you're not doing juiced. The mental gymnastics for old people is as warped as for
competitors.
@@vlada So people can take multi vitamins, protein powders, cryo therapy, etc all of which are not natural but you can't take a "PED". There is no multi vitamin plant, no protein powder fruit. It's all made in labs and factories. It's all meant t o enhance your performance. There's no logical reason why athletes shouldn't be able to use so called PED's. You can shoot all kinds of substances into your body for a better butt, tighter skin etc., but heaven forbid you try to run faster, jump higher or lift more. The argument about "safety" is weak as well. The purpose of combat sports is literally to hurt another human being. Most of the trauma fighters take is actually from training. Taking a "PED" doesn't magically give you skill, strength, or speed. You still have to put in the work. It also doesn't have anything to do with whether or not a technique is effective or not. Just because a instructor uses so called "PEDs" that doesn't mean what they are teaching you isn't valid.
What about GSP? Was it ok that he took PEDs because he fought in a dirty era? I don't have a problem with it but what do you think?
I don't see what the big deal is. It's performance optimization. What professional grappler wouldn't want to do that? But the kidney and liver damage is troubling.
aged really well!
GSP was on gear.
I agree with Firas its almost more acceptable in jiu jitsu because its not as violent.
I think PEDs should be allowed but disclosed. I agree with what you said, Coach. It's a danger to one's health, but so is getting hit in the head with or without PEDs. As long as the promotion discloses that PED use is allowed and fighters are aware of the risk, then there should be no issue.
The problem with that is it becomes (even more) mandatory to juice.
@@VinOptimaxxx what's important is that people know what they're getting into and what they're up against.
@@theguardian3431 I agree that that is important, but it's not right that people should have to be doped to the eyeballs to compete. There is no perfect solution anyway given that doping controls are far from perfect, but I would rather aim for better controls as the ideal solution than to just say that anything goes.
I am shocked that there is ppl with such an opinion.
I wonder if you elaborated that allowing ped in competition makes doping mandatory for everyone and therefore to ruin your health and become a junkie if you want to compete. You literally push kids and newcomers at the needle. Such mindset is (sry) stupid and short thinking to a degree that I cannot even express my shock.
@@PinkiesBrain you make a good point but you ruin your chances at being persuasive by calling anyone who holds opinions different than you as stupid. The reality of the matter is that most competitive sports have doping. The competitiveness intrinsic in each sport push these young kids to to PEDs regardless. The problem with banning it is that it forces these young kids to dope in the shadows under questionable circumstances.
So, the question is, would you rather have them engage in PEDs openly and in a manner that is safe for them where docotrs and science can have a chance at improving their overall health? Or would you rather have these kids dope in secret and risk their health and lives even more so that you can feel better about your unsuccessful gotcha game?
Is there any chance you are noticing the people abusing steroids? If you stay inside your natural weight-class but juice you’re going to be able to train more often but still not able to rely on strength over technique.
This is great. This is a massive problem in combat sports. I love the way Gordon is changing the sport on the mats and off. Him winning ADCC has drawn attention to the fact that everyone in the sport is using and the response has been the community reconsidering our position on this issue.
