the fandom basically created an entire amazing lore for this guy just from one simple pixel design and some hints to a "forgotten scientist" in the game and i love it
Gaster is one of if not the best 'hidden layer of secrets' type character, The sheer amount of Easter eggs you can link to him and that fact that we know so much yet so little about him through so may rare or normal outright unobtainable things(Entry 17 for example) is fascinating, and him having multiple hints of connections to already mysterious characters in game is genius Just one of the many amazingly well done things in Undertale
Hers the thing if gaster is related to the existence of sans and papyrus that since you can se sans in deltarun that mean gaster had to exist in that time line as well but unlike in undertale the monsters were not put underground instead they stayed on the serfis wich means gaster is still alive in that time line P.S. I can not wait for deltarun chapter 2

I think there are 3 types of Fan art/interpretations of Gaster. 1. Cold calculating and methodical scientist, and an incredibly shitty parent, who fell into the void thanks to his own folly, doing whatever it takes, no matter how morally wrong it may be, to escape the endless void. 2. Tragic and somber ghost skeleton who is resigned to his fate to forever walk the world as less than a memory, watching his family and their friends go through all manners of adventures and timelines while being there, and not being there. Also usually tries to communicate with Frisk, and depending on the success of that, has a chance to return. 3. Tall genius skele-man who's a huge dork but also an amazingly good father and gentleman.

I remember when I was super obsessed over Undertale. When I learned about Gaster, I couldn't sleep because of how unsettling his sprites were (especially the one when you touch him and he disappeared) and I couldn't even look at those sprites without getting goosebumps. Later on, when I was less scared of him, he became my favorite character. I looked for everything about him and I came across an animation that had this song in it. I remember how much I loved this song and how I constantly listened to it. Now I managed to get back into my Undertale phase but atleast not as strongly as before. It's pretty embarrassing to remember how I showed a few friends about Gaster and some of the drawings I made of him (thankfully they don't remember), but I guess it's kinda cool that I have a friend who liked Undertale who was able to talk to me about all that stuff and how I was able to have a good bond with him. Thank you Shara for making all those remixes, they are pretty cool and they make my day :) edit: huh so it seems like many ppl had a similar experience Edit 2: jesus christ a lot of likes. uhhh the hyperfixation came back im dying help. anyone excited for when chapter 3-4 comes out?
Not sure if this is intentional, but if it is, it's brilliant. It sounds to me like this song uses not only the melody of _Gaster's Theme,_ but also what sounds like that of the other three songs from the sound test room where it can be heard, _Trouble Dingle,_ _Happy Town,_ and _Meat Factory._

Gaster is such a unique and intriguing character... The hype and mystery around him was so insane and interesting that just the sole single frame of him ever being visible made a whole gigantic ripple in the community, with a stream of fanart, fangames and amazing songs like this very one, following the lead. I love that imagination of the titular scientist as a godlike, eldritch being beyond our mortal comprehension and one so transcendant that he barely ever interracts with this plane of existence. Very unique dynamic when you compare him to characters like Flowey who just pathetically _try_ to play god.
Even after 7 years, I always still manage to come back to not only this video, but all of your works. Jeez I wish I had the talent you have Shara. To be able to turn just a simple tune of six notes repeated forever, to somehow come into this banger. Love your work and I hope you have an amazing future!!! TheUnholyGod/Aster
WHAT I HAVENT SEEN ANY AND IVE BEEN A UNDERTALE FAN SINCE THE LAST SAY OF SCHOOL THIS YEAR. What UnderTale game was the ad for? And is it mobile? Was it standard UnderTale?
Gaster only hid in the void so he would be saved from the player. He knew their intentions. He lost so much work and research, but it was worth it. Edit: *He’s a smart cookie for hiding there*
Years later, I love how we all collectively agreed that Gaster wore a turtleneck when he was still alive and nothing else. But then that makes almost no sense to me because he works in Hotland, aka the equivalent of hell so I wonder how he cools off. But that's just me.
Whats so great about Gaster is the fact that he can fit into any AU setting. Lighthearted AU? He is/was a lovable dad to the skelebros. Dark AU? He was an apathetic monster hat tortured his sons for the sake of science. Horror AU? He is an eldritch being forgotten by time and space, haunting and driving mad those who learn too much. etc. You cant do that with any other UT character. You have to completely change who they are if you want to put them in a new au. Meanwhile Gaster is a perfect blank slate with just enough information out there for you to have a foundation to build on

no I have some questions about him: What happened to his family? Did he have a family? Does Alphys know about him? What about his brother, Century Gothic and his dad, Grandpa Semi? Did he slip and fall or jump off the edge of the Core? Was someone with him when he fell/jumped? Or, was he pushed off...?
Three things: 1: I've never heard of his brother or Dad. 2: Anyone else find it strange that in no websites/comics/theory videos of Gaster that it talks about Muffet mentioning a man that sounds very similar to Gaster. Not to mention the sound it makes when you are in Room 264 with the WingDings on the screen is actually a distorted version of Muffet's laugh... Possibly more connected? 3: You guys should read the Darker yet Darker Fan Comic. Interesting back story on Gaster, Sans, and Papyrus. Out of practically all fan comics, this one I most agree with.

Imagine. You play Undertale on your computer. You do a Genocide Run. But after you kill Flowey, Chara doesn't appear. The game closes. You open it again. Gaster stands there. He says something in his weird language. Then a fight starts that's harder than Sans, where everything in unexpected. Your soul color changes rapidly, attacks are completely random and ridiculous. The battle box expands and twists and moves, Gaster messes with your game in ways no monster has before. You survive for a while, and then you finally manage to hit Gaster. Now the real fight begins. The game closes. But Gaster is still there. He starts messing with your computer files and throws your desktop icons and stuff at you. Everything is complete chaos, and the only way to win is to find the file for Gaster's existence and delete it. But he's not just gonna let you do that. He pulls your mouse cursor away from the buttons you need to click, he moves the windows around, he corrupts your PC, and he even jumps into various other games you have and you have to fight him inside games that he shouldn't even be in. But eventually you do it. Everything goes back to normal.
So I fell into the void, and I managed to finish this remix while I've been here \(・▽・)/ Doing a remix of one of Undyne's themes next week, just give me a sec to figure out which one, though I feel my first priority should be getting out of the void, I dunno (・∀・) It's spacious and cozy here, I can see why Gaster hasn't left ヾ(｡･ω･)ｼ

I love that imagination of the titular scientist as a godlike, eldritch being beyond our mortal comprehension and one so transcendant that he barely ever interracts with this plane of existence. Very unique dynamic when you compare him to characters like Flowey who just pathetically _try_ to play god.

Whats so great about Gaster is the fact that he can fit into any AU setting. Lighthearted AU? He is/was a lovable dad to the skelebros. Dark AU? He was an apathetic monster hat tortured his sons for the sake of science. Horror AU? He is an eldritch being forgotten by time and space, haunting and driving mad those who learn too much. etc. You cant do that with any other UT character. You have to completely change who they are if you want to put them in a new au. Meanwhile Gaster is a perfect blank slate with just enough information out there for you to have a foundation to build on

Imagine. You play Undertale on your computer. You do a Genocide Run. But after you kill Flowey, Chara doesn't appear. The game closes. You open it again. Gaster stands there. He says something in his weird language. Then a fight starts that's harder than Sans, where everything in unexpected. Your soul color changes rapidly, attacks are completely random and ridiculous. The battle box expands and twists and moves, Gaster messes with your game in ways no monster has before. You survive for a while, and then you finally manage to hit Gaster. Now the real fight begins. The game closes. But Gaster is still there. He starts messing with your computer files and throws your desktop icons and stuff at you. Everything is complete chaos, and the only way to win is to find the file for Gaster's existence and delete it. But he's not just gonna let you do that. He pulls your mouse cursor away from the buttons you need to click, he moves the windows around, he corrupts your PC, and he even jumps into various other games you have and you have to fight him inside games that he shouldn't even be in. But eventually you do it. Everything goes back to normal.
