XxxDrexxx What do you mean they have a rule? Like it’s a part of gorilla law or something, cuz I’m sure if something poses enough of a threat they’ll attack it. And attack is also a very vague term usually it’s meant “as to cause harm” but it is often vague without context such as “attack as a result of provocation” “attack as to deflect potential danger” “attack as in to engage in conflict” so considering the the vague “they don’t attack small or defenseless creatures” I’d say this gorilla rule is nonexistent. Also considering that in the animal kingdom size does not always equate weakness many snakes for example whether they be venomous or constrictors have the ability to potentially kill a young gorilla and if a gorilla were to follow this “gorilla rule” they would not harm the small but very dangerous creature, and how would a gorilla determine the defense of a potential creature, whilst they have instincts and cognitive function through generational knowledge they do not know of venom and identification of the animalia that inhabit the same ecosystem. What you see in the video, the gorillas throwing that cat about is probably identical to what wild gorillas do in the presence of unknown wildlife, they are curious and cautious and not bound by anthropomorphized rules that dictate their lives.
They did as soon as they saw it in there. It took some time for them to find someone and for that employee to contact the keepers for the gorillas then they had to coax all of the gorillas back inside and that young male didn't want to go in cause he was still interested in the cat.
