If your talking about Tanner Fox, it is because he has been on RUclips for 5+ years and his channel isn't about cars just because he got his car modified. Tanner is a Vlogger and a professional scooter rider that makes good content.
I have to give TJ Hunt some credits, he is increasingly starting to do more hands on builds. However, I hate that he can't complete one project without starting another.
Hints for people doing it themselves: When using a load leveler, put the handle towards the back facing the trans. If you don't have a removable core support and you try to pull the engine out the top the handle will hit the crane and you can't adjust the load. Also it is pretty easy to tell how the handle works. Grease contact points prior to use for smooth operation. Hint for Chris: Service hard to get parts before you throw the motor in. Fuel filter, a trans flush, etc. With any used motor you probably should look into the bare basics the water pump, thermostat, and timing belt. They make kits for the basic stuff that include a new pulley and tensioner. The hard seals are also going to be super brittle like plastic instead of rubber. Those really should be looked at (cams, FMS,RMS). Make sure to drain and check the oil, search forums for "crankwalk" a killer condition that seems to happen regardless of transmission choice according to some. Regarding programmable ECU's there are budget friendly options out there, while still running a respectable setup. I'm using all the stuff I had off of my 7mgte on my 2jzge-t. MS ECU new was 400, electronic ignition setup was ~100, and I've been running a base tune I found online and run a program to autotune it as I drive. I get what you are trying to do, and I agree there is no point in going overboard with just a first stage, but once you get past 300 or so an SAFC which is the cheapest option is just bad.
T-shirt idea for this project: Frontal view of the car, one half is BRZ, the other half is mk4 Supra. I don't know how seamlessly their body lines match up but it looks cool in my head :D
2JZ swap owner here, just some tips I want to put in your mind if you haven't thought of it already. - Not sure if the BRZ is a fuel return setup, but you'll need an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator with a return line back into the tank, plus the AFPR is needed if you plan to run the stock twins at higher boost, plus is a good upgrade anyway that helps when going single. I have the aeromotive AFPR. -The tailshaft on the 2jzgte a340e is a 3point star. You'll need an adaptor for it, driftmotion has a driveshaft service for 2jz swaps and they make quality shafts. -Change the timing belt tensioner to a billet one, they are known to break. -Walbro 255lph or the twin turbo supra denso fuel pump is what you need for a pump. -DO NOT run the stock twins over 17.5psi unless you plan on having a single on hand to change to. The vvti 2jzgte turbos have ceramic turbines that kill themselves at that boost. The USDM non-vvti supra turbos can safely hold around 23psi. 17psi should be good for around 390whp through the automatic transmission. -If you ever do decide to switch to a standard, Collins makes the best adapter plates, all billet and pretty afordable.
Mellow Gaming hey man i want 2 do a ej25 swap cant find Ny info on the mounting difference or other stuff cud u point me in the right direction plz tnx
You ALWAYS want to use a piece of wood to apply even pressure while you place a jack on any type of pan on a vehicle. Just a quick tip!!! :) love the videps
This is CRAZY Chris. 2JZ BRZ. I am eager to see those vids. Those trees from the West Coast are hard on the paint of cars. I lived in B.C. for a while and have seen moss growing on stuff. Thanks man.
If your going to drift it get a 350z manual gearbox and adapter, or the BMW e36 320d gearbox and adaptor will be cheaper than a 2j box, and better for drifting
They only had a syncro problem till like 2005 but thats basically only if you dont know how to shift. They can handle a lot of power so i wouldn't say they are shitty
Would recommend when you jack the engine up to release the weight off the engine mounts, put a wood block between jack and the oil pan or it could potentially damage it
Chris, you might want to look into becoming a dealer in Oregon. This would let you flip cars and allow you to use a single plate on all your project cars.
Ian I don't think he means an actual dealer. I know a few people who build/own lots of trashed cars from salvage yards who go through the process of becoming a "dealer" just for the benefits.
Hi Chris I'm a new subscriber to the channel. Watched all the mustang videos and I really enjoy what I see so far. Humble, not afraid to make and share mistakes, and not arrogant. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
This is the most excited ive been for any series so far. This is my dream build and it'll be so much easier doing it since Chris will document this so well.
a lot of people use 350z transmissions with an adapter. way cheaper then a 2j manual. just swap the trans before putting the motor in the its so much easier and I know the whole format for the build you're going for but you're just making everything hard for yourself
WHAT!! i miss a few episodes and Nek Minut 2JZ in the BRZ???? thats fucking awesome :D Come to Australia Chris... teach meeee!! haha love your videos dude.
I love the videos of yours that I've watched so far. I started with you buying the fj cruiser and then progressed to this point. I got very excited when you showed how to buy cars off co part and the process of doing so. You explain things very well and your work is top notch as well. Thank you for your videos and because of this, you've gained another subscriber. Cheers!
Heyya Chris!! Not sure if anyone else commented, but while the engine is out it'll be a great opportunity to clean up the engine bay visually and repaint it so it can match the rest of the car!
dude your so fucking humble, its just awesome how you dont go around acting like you know what your doing all the time but you assure us the viewers that you are in a learning stage as well. cause you could easily watch a video on how to and not tell us and some people would just think your jesus. but its really cool how you just keep it mellow like yeah i guess we will find out how to do it and you just go at it and document the whole thing. jus major props man for keeping it real and being you throughout your youtube growth ! honestly it would be an honor to meet up with you one day even just to grab a bite!
Chris, I think none of your fans shoud be angry if you sell a car if you have no more ideas to make it better, because it's all about the journey! Keep moving on and good luck with getting the mustang running.
For a manual transmission you can get a ZF or Getrag (5 or 6 speed) from a BMW E28 E34 or E36 and probably other models for cheap. You will need an adapter plate which costs around $300. I think a much better option than the Auto. Gr8 build anyway, cant wait to see the outcome.
British racing green for something different! And paint the engine bay a nice bright silver so that you have good visibility when you work in there, light reflects well and you see everything. That's my 2c. I really like the 2jz swap idea. Can't go wrong with a 2jz ^^
I'm a new viewer to the channel and I'm really enjoying your stuff, keep it up! In a couple of your vids, you said you read the comments but I don’t know if you read new comments posted on old videos, so please read through this next part about seat belt retractors. When the seat belt retractor locks up in a crash, either by pyrotechnics or the inertia lock, there are elements inside the retractor that are designed to deform during a crash. This is a way the seat belt tries to absorb some of the kinetic energy of the passenger in the event of a crash, which helps avoid deceleration peaks. Since the pyrotechnic and/or inertia locks will not allow any give, other components in the retractor or belt provide this give or deformation. This feature of the seat belt retractor is called belt-force limiter. To my knowledge, the belt-force limiter feature is not designed to be used more than once, and it may be possible that if a component in the seat belt retractor deformed in one crash, that it could break/fail in a second. While you may take the retractor apart and it may look ok, it may be harder to tell if specific components are twisted, such as the torsion bar were the seat belt wraps around. I did a quick google search, but couldn’t really find a good picture to describe this phenomenon, but this is probably something to ask a professional about (which I am not). This is some info I pulled from the Bosch Automotive Handbook (9th edition, page 1084) and from a buddy who knows more about this stuff than I do. If it were me, I’d just go full race car and get 5 point harnesses, or the 4 point with anti-submarining that you talked about in an Evora episode, but that’s just my 2 cents. Sorry for the wall of text.
Looking forward to this one massive fan of the channel. Before you fit the 2j at minimum I'd change the hard to reach vac lines on the back of the engine, the turbo link pipes, as they always collapse with age, and maybe do the valve stem seals to as most gte motors are starting to smoke on cold start up. Check the crank pulley to for cracks in the rubber as theses are another week spot with age to. Good luck with the build Chris! Jake
You need more subs. Why do 16 year olds with little car experience have more subs? Tf, this is pure quality and educational.
Blackage who are you talking about
probably like tanner fox or similar
If your talking about Tanner Fox, it is because he has been on RUclips for 5+ years and his channel isn't about cars just because he got his car modified. Tanner is a Vlogger and a professional scooter rider that makes good content.
*ahem* tj hunt
I have to give TJ Hunt some credits, he is increasingly starting to do more hands on builds. However, I hate that he can't complete one project without starting another.
Let me know if you need any help!
I'm excited to see this come together, I think we could squeeze 400hp out of it stock turbos and all!
+MotionAutoTv i will need help and i will be in touch!
You guys need to win that challenge and show what real builders can do. And show that 2jz is still to be feared haha.
Plz let this happen love both of your channels
MotionAutoTv Wat does a build like this cost
i know it's just looks chris.. but could you please paint the engine bay whilst motor is out?
MrEp1kk yes that would bring the car to a new level of clean
Haggard style 'Hot Boy'? haha
pls no
Not a hot boy style but paint the bay the color of the car to Make it look factory
yeah I was thinking the same thing...
It shall be called the BJZ
Good
Good
Nice one😂😂

Ughhhh totally cant wait to see what becomes of this!
AMBush Drift I agree, I'm planing to doing this swap , what about you?
AMBush Drift tell adam i love him and you lol
AMBush Drift saw you at osw! My coworker got a ride along with you! Subbed!
I'm so hype for this build
I already know this is my favorite build yet and it's going to be a hit
T-shirt idea for this project: Frontal view of the car, one half is BRZ, the other half is mk4 Supra. I don't know how seamlessly their body lines match up but it looks cool in my head :D
thank you thank you ! i paused this video at 5 min and commented and said FINALLY SOMEONE IS BRAKING THIS DOWN FOR EVERYONE
"...I don't know what mixture of toxic chemicals can turn out to smell like cookies, But I like it!"
Dude finally man I did the same swap for my frs and I'm telling you, you won't be disappointed
while the engine is out you should paint the engine bay a better colour.
Culler
cooler
*Coiler
In Canada it's spelled colour , because it's an English word and we speak English ( better than most people in England ) .
Edward culler
BRZ IS BACK BABY. FUCK YEAH
Had a Toyota add before this video... foreshadowing at its finest!
I have been waiting so anxiously for this. ITS FINALLY HERE.

cud u point me in the right direction plz
tnx
Yay more brz! Plus you deserve more subs man, this channel is super entertaining.
I am excited about this build!
I'm not, I'm worried
I'm doing the stand alone in my E30 for under $300. Microsquirt is your best friend. runs batch fire and up to a v8. Best way to learn to tune!
You ALWAYS want to use a piece of wood to apply even pressure while you place a jack on any type of pan on a vehicle. Just a quick tip!!! :) love the videps
Best thing there is so much content in these episodes no click bait
this is the first time I've listened with headphones and that engine start was amazing
This is CRAZY Chris. 2JZ BRZ. I am eager to see those vids. Those trees from the West Coast are hard on the paint of cars. I lived in B.C. for a while and have seen moss growing on stuff. Thanks man.
Speed Academy is a great source of info for this build. Awesome that you watch them
If your going to drift it get a 350z manual gearbox and adapter, or the BMW e36 320d gearbox and adaptor will be cheaper than a 2j box, and better for drifting
Stuart Cousins 350z transmissions are known for being really shitty, I would stay far far away from those
They only had a syncro problem till like 2005 but thats basically only if you dont know how to shift. They can handle a lot of power so i wouldn't say they are shitty
Gazerz Garage they're not shitty
Yes. I'm excited for this series
this channel and bad obsession motorsport are so entertaining to watch !
Nikos Chrys
Only drops one video every two months and it's sooo worth it ! Bad obsession is top three best yt channels
This car, Plan A is the reasons why I'm here now... Ahh old days. Today, I still support the channel.
I was looking at your old videos and my how things have changed! Well done Chris 🙏🏾
aw man perfect. I just finished binging the plan A brz playlist
So happy this is going to be the best current build on youtube
Would recommend when you jack the engine up to release the weight off the engine mounts, put a wood block between jack and the oil pan or it could potentially damage it

Love the top down angle!
You need a shot bag, plastic mallet, and an English wheel. It will make fabricating fender well liners a breeze.
"I don't know what combination of toxic chemicals results in cookies; but I like it". -b is for build.
you always say you dont know how to do things but always do things that i could never trust myself doing 😂
i remember when i first came to this channel lol around 3k subs i said this guy is gunna blow up look at him now
You are doing what I dream of doing 😭 you are an inspiration to me. Keep up the amazing videos you definitely deserve more subs
Nice 👍🏼! Can't wait to see more Brotha! Keep it coming.

I'm super excited for this build, man! can't wait to see all the progress! Will definitely be here to watch 👍

I love you. Please never stop
stoked! Good luck on the build
Awesome bro! Can't wait to see more vids on the build
that frame is bent on both sides. you might want to fix that before you out the 2jz in. so hyped for this build finally a brz with real power
When I took Auto Sevice 101 in 1973 at Lansing Community College the text book was a Motors or Chilton Manual.(GO STARS)
Really psyched for this build
oh shit HYPE!
Glad to see you're starting a new build so soon! Love your content. Keep up the great work.
