Buster Keaton, one of the greats, so glad this movie survived. The movie was feared to be a lost film until actor James Mason bought Buster Keaton's old house in 1952 and discovered a copy in the basement, which he had restored at a film lab.

This rocks! Made me laugh. And there wasn't even talking to help make this funny!!! None of the cursing and crap that they use today, to try and make something funny. He was a true comedic genius.
i love this film - it’s hilarious :) 🤷🏻♂️ i just realized, this must one if the first, if not the first, film that figured out the way to use water for a boat scene in the studio! i’m sure fans already were in use for windy scenes. andthe last part of the film is in total darkness except for characters. that way they didn’t have to worry about scenery and was more dramatic. 🎭🎬

The boat launch and scenes motoring around in a bay were filmed in Newport Bay here in the Los Angeles area... it's been built up in the 100 years since this classic was filmed...
Strange as it may seem, I found out about this film from a 1963 television series called Fractured Flickers. I am very happy that their spoof made me aware of this gem.

I like all the humor. But I feel sorry for the two boys and the actress. They repeatedly got soaked and cold over and over, all for the sake of jokes and a sad ending. Back then, this was the height of fame, so they knew what they were getting into. But looking at from the lens of 100 years later, there are a lot better movies that are worth getting drenched in.
