Chevy 350 That Should Not Be ~ Filling Station Rebuild

- This 350 Chevy is probably one of the worst I have ever encountered. So many problems that most folks would just throw it away. But we don't do that here!! I'm determined to make it run. The plan is to put it in Amber's 1976 Chevy C10 Cheyenne!! Yep we have a squarebody!!!

That old motor will probably keep going long enough for you to forget that it has internal issues. Glad you decided to put it back together. Also, for the record, I have notifications on for you and Dalton, but not for those highly sponsored channels. Not that they're bad, just because I prefer to watch something I can do over something I could never afford without major sponsorship deals.
You my good sir are officially my new favorite RUclips'r!! Absolutely love seeing other people that have the knowledge to be able to build good quality motors/ cars ect... without having to have all the fancy equipment and shit. Keep up the great content.
Thank you! I try to keep it simple (cheap as possible in this "economy") and fun.
As it’s said (somewhere) don’t it right just get it running..
That would be Patty Loveless. Good song.
👍👍👍
You’re so right about how real working men have to use/run/fab/modify/make do with what they got. You pull it, backyard buddy & Craigslist deals with MAYBE a few china parts from the parts stores.
I too have witnessed some guys RUclips channels start out like real folks then advance to “power nation/velocity/motor trend” builds putting together thousands of dollars worth of bolt on parts.
I unsubscribe when they do.
I don't unsubscribe. I'm just more likely to not click right away.
@@IrishOutlawGarage I’m now a disabled & mobility impaired “ustacould” spending 95% of my time in my craftmatic with the 55” Samsung rarely being turned off.
I see when they load more content and can pick/chose if/when to watch. Howsumever, if I don’t unsubscribe, when I go to sleep watching your, Pole Barn, Junkyard Digs, etc., most every time I wake from a nap (pain don’t let me sleep more than 60-90 minutes at a time) their stuff’s playing and I’d rather folks like you get that play time & $$ than those feeding at the Corp troughs.
that was a fun build great job
Thank you
Dude this rocks 🤣😎🍻🤟🏼
Thanks!
great job, good enough for who its for.
"What" it's for lol. The "who" might not like that lol.
At only 3 minutes 30 seconds in and when the stone hone came out I basically got hooked and decided I needed to watch this trainwreck go somewhere and happen 😂 Killer video! Thanks for the awesome content and inspiration! 🤘🤘🤘
Awesome video… she just needed a little love … sounded great 👍
Awesome use what ya got that's how ya do it
At 20 seconds , a 2 bolt main !
As my dad would say that quarker state oil it gums up like that lol i don’t know but he sure does lol
Old Quaker State and Penzoil were garbage oil. Full of terrible additives.
I have gotten several farmer owned penzoil motors and yeah Buick 231 V6,2.8 tbi 88 regular cab short bed 2wd Chevy S10 Tahoe, Oldsmobile V8 motors in big body 77-86 b body and gbody cars and a few sbc and several gm square body trucks with the same issue as the rest of them their engine options varies greatly though,L6 sbc,BBC, diesel, rebuilt car soft cam and crank from factory 3/4 ton 4.11 and 4.56 open diff th 400 and th350, and most of them got hurt and ill admit i learned that lesson the hard way twice....
Went through most of the comments and nobody mentioned Patty…. She’s a hell of a singer with a hell of a voice…. Brings me back to mid to late 80s… just outta high school (84) starting to put my stamp on this big ol’ world… Damn i miss those days😢😢
There were a couple that guessed it right. She's one of the best ever.
Dang right made couple old 350’s just like that dang good stuff for old farm trucks
Me too i grew up a broke rural farm kid lol...
Big smiles, Go baby go. Love it Jay, love it!
Enjoyed this video. Happy New Year
When I was 16 I rebuilt a 74 350. Got the overhaul kit from trw for 79$ honed cleaned and put her together. Sold it to a friend who raced it in bomber class for two season. Beating all the guys that laughed at the kid. He moved up and sold the 70 Monte Carlo. Now 40 years later he’s still running hard in late models, and I haven’t rebuilt one since. I need to assemble my old 365 hp 327 Vette motor. She’s been machined and hauled around and stored for 38 years. Fuck life gets in the way. Nice work. 😎🍻
My machinist has the specs and use to make the cams for that vette engine. I used to build derby engines for people and used that cam numerous times.
@@IrishOutlawGarage there’s nothing that sounds or runs out like it. I had it in a 67 base Camaro. Third gear at 35 mph it would melt the tires and make you involuntarily fill you pants lol. Great video. I think you’re hitting your stride. ✊🏼
Awesome video brother. Yeah that motor didn't look the greatest but she will be OK. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible night. Happy New Year
Its amazing it didn't smoke, that cyl, cam and bearings. gas station sushi lifters lol
You should namer Casper the friendly ghost
I knew it would run well but not this well lol
@@IrishOutlawGarage good job
I lost my dad just over three years ago to cancer but the two of you would have gotten along so fu$$$$$ well I feel like that’s why I’m such a big fan
My dad was 2020. Cancer
@@IrishOutlawGarage same here
I am saying this at the very beginning of the video not washing more than two minutes thank God I got another video from you. I needed this truly you don’t even know.😂
LOL, I was a little perturbed right from the start
When that old starter lit up the first time, it sounded like a tin can! Now, hell, I'm probably as surprised as you are! I do wonder what the compression stats are on all the cylinders? That will be interesting to test just for shits and giggles. Just make sure not to use like the previous owners did and make it a boat anchor!
I plan on comp testing it after it's ran for a while
@@IrishOutlawGarage I think it will be interesting to see how it goes when the rings have a chance to their job. That one piston will be the most interesting.
Whew buddy. This one’s some real experimental, for the sake of science stuff. That was a bowl of hot Cam. Chowder!! Way more fun then a Hagerty build if you ask me!
Way less expensive too!!
Craigslist Racecar Engine👍🏻keyboard mechanics be like 🧐
Could be a racecar engine! You'd just lose alot 🤣
Glad to have you back bud! I love your sense of humor, or is it just being perpetually disgusted? Either way, it's hella entertaining! And the vehicles are all badass.
Sarcastically Angry! Lol
@@IrishOutlawGarage Man, I can't believe how good it runs! That's awesome!
I was about to say 2 guys I know have stuck with it are Dalton over at PBG and Kevin at JYD. 2 guys I can relate to.
No Nonsense Knowhow is another one
@@IrishOutlawGarage yes i totally agree, as you are wearing the hat the whole time!! I live right across the river from Chris, i love watching him do his bike things when he comes over to NJ and i see the streets i drive! That's cool
Have y'all watched revstoration RUclips channel?!
Aren't the RUclips experts and haters Awesome I always tell people I do things my way if you think I'm doing it wrong that's your opinion and then I just tell him opinions are like buttholes everybody has one. In the time that I've watched your Channel I've noticed you're kind of like that too. keep doing things your way man
I'll do things my way.... but if I'm wrong and screw up I'll admit it
@@IrishOutlawGarage yeah I will too when I first started Building engines when I was 13 learning from my dad and my grandpa and learning how the old ways they do things people these days don't like to see those old ways
The two tone green c20 Cheyenne that needs a motor replaced is in Lincoln Illinois and it has all of the ac stuff compressor lines condenser core...etc
There you are lol recliner in gaged 😂
It's a doozy lol
I have did that many times
The 76 two tone green Cheyenne i believe is a c20 looking for trades its in Indiana, anyways it has all the ac compressor, core, and lines, and the control panel...
Old motor sounds good
Sure does
I absolutely love your content and point of view sir keep up the great work
Thanks!
Just sharing with you Hooker black hart headers cast iron and there made where you don't have to worry about burning your spark plug wires and you can get at all the spark plugs.
Yip , use hooker hedders a lot. Getting hard to afford though. 👍
hell yeah, love the run stand. Cool to see a motor like that run again. have you used your welder yet? Ive been looking for a new decent welder, was curious if you liked it or not
I haven't been able to really use the welder yet. I'll be using it a bunch on the truck this motor is going in though.
My first car, 87 cavalier wagon. blew the head gasket. Yanked head, it had a crack. We scuffed up the block/head, new gasket reused head bolts. Threw some bars leak in and it ran like a top! 😅
I've done similar craziness. Lol, whatever it takes!
Chains, chains, shackles and chains never gonna break these chains, the singer is patty loveless and she is a very talented woman and by that singer and songwriter and she can play a few different instruments..
doesnt get anymore budget build then that! awsome
I think it'll work just fine
absolutely. its chevy. id bet you get 200k out of that engine.@@IrishOutlawGarage
@@James182nj.s depends who's drivin'!! Lol
See ys next time dude.
Man this is the Chit I like to see!! Sho Nuff real life budget get er done.. Love it Brother! love the channel...got my sub man!
Awesome thanks!
Motor sounds good nice work Sir ! What’s up Zep !
One of the best videos I’ve watched Jay. Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. Keep keepin’ it real. I love watching how well supposedly useless but in reality simply slightly imperfect old blocks run. You did a great thing here. She sounds awesome. Great work.
Honestly to many people are dead set on "perfection" because of what they have seen. And forget most of what they have seen was paid for by companies trying to sell them their products (which is a good thing). But this also has people forgetting that these old school pieces of machinery were designed to handle extreme shit! I'm glad you liked it!
Have i told you about the mini high torque starter i put on the early 94 Chevy Z71 Silverado extended cab short bed 0.40 over 350tbi truck it is a ac Delco professional series replacement starter and it fires right up as soon as you hit the key..... And in mu opinion i would have said it is another one that should not be a running motor but the more it gets used the better it runs
Ever consider using something like JBWeld to fill in the pitting and give you a smooth bore again?
I've tried that on small engines. JB doesn't hold up to the heat and friction very well
Dude you had me fucking rolling the entire video
I'm glad my misery makes you laugh 🤣🤣
Smooth as a baby's butt 😊
Happy New Year
You too!
Love the video I subscribe and liked your video I’ll be watching your channel now .
Awesome thanks!
Patty Loveless sings that song.
Correct
I wonder if that's Viesgrip Garage approved.
Not sure, I believe I'm a bit to far "don't give s*#t " for even him lol.
Merle Haggard had to look it up hadn't heard it. Which led me to the Year Clayton Delaney died.
You talking about the song I was singing?
Wow maybe you can sell that oil sluge to a road re-paving
But if your going to change the timing cover gasket then you just as well change the timing gears and chain. Right now you have timing that has plastic gear Teeth that's 1 thing that government should step in and out law plastic gears plastic water pumps plastic timing covers and vavle cover and oil pans. They think they are saving money 💰 but they are Costing working people like and I.
Where is the drum 🥁 role for the oil pan remove
Lol
I’m a firm believer in Copper Coat!
99% chance this is that "rebuilt" facbook market place engine.
99.9%, that's why I take everything apart and assemble it myself.
patty loveless
Correct!
To all the trolls and keyboard warriors🏁🏁🏁🏁❤🏁❤❤🏁❤🏁🏁🏁🏁
I had a knife that looked like the inside of that cylinder, and they called it Damascus 😉
O and if you use Right stuff you don't even need gaskets!
