I have to agree with several others. This is definitely a commercial for Oneida. "Just call up Oneida and they'll be able to suggest one of their other . . . . Be up front and tell the viewers before you begin, in the title, that it is about Oneida dust collectors. You can say you mentioned "other styles" and you would be correct. But, the title implies something broader than just one brand/maker. I was going to send this (when I saw the title) to a group of new woodworkers, but I won't now. No reflection on Oneida. It is just not a video showing various dust collectors and commenting on what they each can accomplish.

I have had my Supercell (35 gallon, wall mount) for going on 3 years ... couldn't be happier. The one thing I am contemplating is putting a couple of eye-bolts in the lid so I can suspend the lid from the frame of the wall bracket with bungy cords when I empty the barrel.

Decent infomercial. I'm considering this system but I'm worried about the noise generated by the three shop vac motors. Seems like there was some video editing done during the "party trick" to lower the audio level when the system was running. Did anyone else notice that the video conveniently zooms in so we couldn't see if he put on hearing protection during the demonstration.

I can guarantee he was wearing hearing protection. First, I’ve been in a few shops with dust collection systems inside the shop and they are ALL loud. Plus he was standing right next to the collector so direct impact noise. Most modern microphone systems, ear bus, AirPods, etc. have an automatic noise cancelling/dampening system that “mutes” the sound of the dust collector shortly after it was started up. Hence, the change in volume you noted. Finally, I was recently able to tour the studio at Woodsmith/PopWood as well as Logan’s shop and yeah, it’s loud but it works. While the video is sponsored by Oneida, Logan offers several tips about features and functions to consider when choosing any dust collection system. Me, personally, I have a Dust Right system from Rockler that has done well by me. I have also used the Dust Deputy from Oneida connected to a shop vac. It too did well for what I was doing at the time and what I could justify.

How far apart can the super cell be from the drum? I want to place a dust collector high on the wall and have the drum to side, so not directly underneath it. Is that possible?

    • @AlexWitter1995

Yes, you can mount the supercell at any height and then run flex hose from the bottom of the Supercell cone to the drum on the floor. Although Oneida recommends that you keep that drop as straight as possible as it's all gravity fed, and you don't want dust getting caught in the hose between the bottom of the cone and the drum.

whilst i am not knocking the information you give in this video, or the product itself. it is nonetheless an advert for your sponsor.

This isn't about choosing the right dust collector, its justifying why the Oneida is a good one since it serves the purpose of what many people need two machines for, but the title is misleading.

Seem like an infomercial, no real help for "Choosing the right dust collector". You are capable of far more than this.

We like to think there's plenty of useful information for anyone shopping for a dust collector here. This was a sponsored video as you figured out, which is why it includes the official RUclips "includes paid promotion" disclosure for all to see.

🤔, Not really an example for how to choose a dust collector. More of an ad about the system not comparable systems. You can do this of course but just don’t use that title to your video. Continue doing this and people will soon learn you’re just an ad channel !

If you are going to do an infomercial on a specific item, be honest about it instead of using BS titles.

4:55 "The pressure causes the dust to drop down into this bin." That's absolute nonsense and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of how a cyclone separator works. I'm sorry, but that instantly disqualifies you from giving advice on dust collection systems.

Advertisement for $3000+ of dust collector is not "how to choose". At the risk of offending the youtube gods: bite my ass.
