Slippingbug wanted to contend with projectiles and played the range game as Decidueye before playing Empoleon, but after playing Empoleon, he decided to switch styles and go in for a more close-range approach, with Sucker Punch as one of his main offensive tools. As a Pokkén DX player, this was extremely entertaining to watch.
Chandelure is a nightmare to play against.

Twixxie though? A complete exception, his decision making and optimal playstyle is insane, the only Chandy I consistently struggle with, and it ain't even bad, they're solidly close games

When I first heard about this game, I was expecting to see Pikachu doing some EWGF's. Lol.
Why do I see all this hate towards Chandelure? God I know it can be painful to fight a Chandelure, but it's not that hard to counter her. Bait Overheat, shield lasers (even if you get Hex'd with no debuffs on you, you take a little more than no damage), using CA piercing moves, and much more.
We've seen way worse in the FGC, like Brawl Meta Knight and Bayonetta (in Smash Bros games) are worse than that. Another prime example is the Ice Climbers. Yes they do win by getting one or 2 grabs, but they have to GET that grab. It's not easy to get it at high level. Chandelure is not even top tier in this game, so why all this hate???
Campy characters with lots of strong projectiles are often disliked, I don't mind chandy now gengar I hate.
Most of the people commenting only play online, and Chandy is dumb with lag. but offline I don't see the problem.

Mistake was not sticking to empoleon, good job though you put in work i can tell chandalure is the annoying zonning character of the game and zonning with a game movement like this looks really hard to deal with

That's one of Decidueye's attacks. He shoots one of the Magneton cameramen out if the sky to land on the opponent.

It decreases the amount of time that debuffs stay on Chandelure, and it increases the amount of time debuffs stay on the opponent.
Its also a taunt.

Pokken Tournament DX for the Switch, it's a Pokemon fighting game partially in the style of Tekken. I highly recommend it, it's pretty unique and beginner-friendly.
I wish the pokken on wii u didn't need a gamepad for simple local multiplayer. The weird perspective thing is useless anyway.

I’ve played this once, like a year ago on the wii-u, and I even I can tell that chandelure is cancerous as hell.
At least at a low level.
Chandelure is actually only considered mid tier at best, and is actually pretty popular with the competitive players due to being relatively rare in tournaments.
Honestly, he is only really annoying online since lag makes his stuff difficult to react to. Offline, however, Chandelure players have to work hard to keep their opponents out since she is extremely weak at close range.

Zoning looks so annoying in this game...
Zoning is not really that bad. Sure, Twixxie zoned the whole match, but that is because Chandelure is a pure zoning character with extremely weak close range abilities, and Slippingbug was playing two characters who are monsters once they get in.
If you watch matches with other characters, like Lucario or Mewtwo, you'll see that a lot of characters tend to fight from midrange or closer in the game.

I don't play this game (or fighting games in general), but watching Twixxie use constant range spam was pretty annoying. I'm sure that's the Chandelier Pokemon's specialty, but it's not very interesting to watch. The penguin's clutch wins made up for it tho.
Fogmoz try actually playing the game and you will see it's a lot harder to play a range character like chandalure
One of the easiest characters in the game by far. Use it to get to C rank cheap and then figure out you don't know how to play the game, you just know how to spam.
What makes chandelure so dangerous is Twixxie's performance with it. But that does not deny the fact that the character itself is hella stupid and will net you lots of wins.

A character's range doesn't make them good or bad. She may be annoying at long range, but if she is forced into close range combat, she's pretty much garbage. Her close combat abilities are hella weak and sorta rely of getting her enemies into Hex grab range for a possible phase shift imo, so if her opponent gets close to her, she's gonna be taking quite a lot of damage. I get it, it looks like yet another spam to win character, but if you can't do anything about said spam, that more reason for your opponent to spam. It looks cheap, but there is a shield button and a way to counterattack, so her long range moves can be predicted and nullified unless it's a shield/counter pierce. I just picked her up, but I know she isn't spam to win, her long range attacks are the only reason she's even viable due to her sucky close-range offensive.
Chandelure is only OP in online with lag, if you use machamp or if you are a complete noob
