I dont like the part of Mano a Mano, where Skaters only play with one bag of tricks like Inverts or Frontside Flips 5 times.
Should create a rule against this boring stuff.
Seeing variations of the same flips or invert variations really kills some battles for me. Perfectly within the rules, of course, and skaters know their opponent might not have them in their bag. But jeez, losing Jake Wooten and Andy to the same idea was tough lol

It’s crazy how popular hand plants are again on mini ramp, it’s a trick I never bothered learning because I don’t skate vert.
a lot (if not most) of the participants in this are bowl riders and vert skaters, hence why they know it

I never tried to learn them either due to me only being a mini ramp & small transition guy. Nuthin wrong w them doin them on minis if it feels & looks good to them but for me personally lm not really into them on minis. Im sure l wouldnt be able to do one myself either. Its even tuff for me to bend down & grab my rail so theyd def be hard for me. I personally only like coping combo type tricks on minis. Not even really into airs even unless its like alittle pop to a disaster or something
Shout out to every skater going forward who does not do a hand plant variation for every trick. Hand plants are ok just not every trick!

Wow, doing one set up trick is fine, but Heimana definitely was doing a few build up tricks I would count as a try. Like seeing if he has a tail grab before adding a flip to it.
I didnt notice this one exactly but it is really weird to me too. I think it was the girls match today and ive seen this a few times where the trick set is for example a back disaster revert and theyll skate up and do a back disaster first then come back and try the revert out. just weird to be warming up in the middle of a game let alone with a trick thats basically what was set . kinda opens the door to more tries as you could do the disaster and not be feeling the revert on that attempt and then get another try. Think Chris did something similar here too with the blunt 180

A lot of tricks are hard to do after a drop-in, or right after a rock to fakie as well. It's getting the hang of the transition, I assume you don't skate mini-ramps much, otherwise would know how big the difference is
Besides, it is more content for us (to see our favorite skaters skating a mini, which is why we are here for, after all, no?)

I think the commenter was just expressing when someone was doin per say a back d to sugarcane that he immediately thought that was the trick. To be honest there was a couple times l thought 'yep thats it' but then nope, just another set up trick. But its all good cause more tricks to see

You probably don't know the culture of transition skateboarding but handplants have always been a big part of it, there's absolutely no reason to ban them. For me tricks that shouldn't be allowed in a miniramp competition are technical flatground tricks landed below the coping for example cause it's not really transition.

I just don't have sympathy for a pro-level transition skater who hasn't spent the one day it would take to learn handlplants. Christian Hosoi was doing 'hand-on-coping' handplants the first time he ever visited a skatepark when he was a little kid. Handplants are table stakes for this competition. Heimana did not abuse the advantage he had over the ill-prepared Gregson.
