- Here's the third day of my solo Idaho BDR ride in July of 2021. I took off from Riggins, ID at around 8:00 AM, had a fun ride in the morning. Roller coaster road for a bit, then terrifying rocks and steep rutty slopes. Took a hard fall on one of them.
Made it to Elk City, then decided to push on for Darby, MT to complete all of Section 4. Had a good ride with some awesome views of endless mountains full of flowers and dead trees and smoke. Was really, really amazing!
Also had a slow but painful crash on the corridor, thanks to a tow truck's THICK dust cloud. At least he helped me pick up the bike, which is the worst parts of crashes. :)
257 total miles today
Boo for two bike drops on this second day! Pushed my muffler into my swingarm even.

Thanks for sharing this. We went through about a week or two before you. Quite a ride!
Does a bear 💩 in the woods?
No. He 💩💩 on the adv trail to give riders something to land in when they fall. 😂🤣
Rode the BDR north to south this past September. I remember these sections well. Looks like you are running Trailmax Missions, I really did not like them on my Africa twin.
Thanks for the videos. I’m thinking about doing sections 2.5-5 solo this summer. I’m an intermediate to advanced rider on a GSA 1250. Any sections I should avoid?
Hey, thanks. I consider myself beginner to intermediate, so if I can make it, you should be good. Nothing extremely complex. Careful on the stream crossing, should be low later in the summer so not much problem. And a few short downhill rocky sections that were sketchy but I managed to stay upright.
Assuming You’ve had many dropped (big heavy) bike situations (on steep hills & in water crossings) ….any tips ?
Curious which model(s) you considered before acquiring your tenere 7?
The only other one really in the running at the time was the KTM. But I went for the value option and haven't regretted it at all.
Camel ADV Anti-Bobblehead kit will eliminate the shaking of your instrumentation and cell phone.
As far as I can tell, the "shaking" is actually shock absorption designed to protect electronics, and I have no desire to get rid of that. I paid extra to get that for my cell phone with the Quad Lock.
I would guess that’s additional dampening. Why would that be bad? Just curious
