    Soooooooo happy you loved it 😊😊😊😊 i knew you would appreciate everything about this film and thats why i said when criterion announced it will give this film a 4k that this was big news! I have the studio canal 4k i got it a few years back and im so glad you also see how insanely beautiful the 4k transfer looks so im happy to hear criterion didn't mess it up. I also agree that this is hands down the most beautiful black and white movie ever on 4k, and im so glad that it was because this film is superb. Yes you definitely have to re watch it many times as each time you eill appreciate it more. I've been watching this movie since 1997 when i first watched it on terrestrial UK TV randomly and ever since it still is relevant to society of all places. So glad you enjoyed it and you made this RUclips video and i hope more people will do 😁👍

      Thank you so much for letting me know about this movie or I wouldn’t have thought to see it. It’s strange because I read a lot of lists and this doesn’t pop up. Maybe it’s because a lot of American writers are the ones making the lists but this is a film if you’re a fan of film you have to see. The cinematography alone makes the whole movie worth it. You just can’t look away no matter what it is going on the screen. I’m sure i’ll appreciate this one more ok rewatches. Thanks again for the recommendation I really appreciate it so much.

      My absolute pleasure as I knew you would! My next recommendation for another incredible French masterpiece is untouchables this is another must see! Unfortunately for some crazy reason it hasn't had a 4k release from Sony but Sony did make a fantastic blu ray so if your able to watch it on blu ray then I highly recommend you do. This movie is so good its another top French movie that I know you will love 😊 it has 8.5 stars from nearly a million ratings on imdb so that tells you a lot :) it's based on a true story and in fact Kevin Hart starred in a American remake of this movie which was absolutely atrocious so please don't watch the American version 😅

      @021om6 O I have seen the American remake of that and didn’t love it lol. That’s actually why I didn’t watch the original which I know is really dumb but the American version I thought was just a bad film and I like the actors lol. I’ll definitely watch the original now.

      @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia Oh nooooooo!! Ahhhh such a shame you've watched the American remake it's absolutely trash and an insult to the French masterpiece. The movie never needed a remake and its such a shame you've watched the crap version. You definitely have to watch the original French version it's an amazing film however now that you have seen the American version I don't know if it will be as impactful as if you hadn't of already watched the other version but I'm still sure you will appreciate how good the french movie is.

      @021om6 I don’t think it will hurt it for me lol. I’m sure that version will tell the story better and have a more cinematic look to it. The American felt like a comedy trying to drama with TV movie cinematography.

    This film launched the career of Vincent Cassel. There are colour sequences on a Uk BFI bluray so you can compare if you wish. Btw the original Criterion bluray had a booklet where the 4k has a foldout.

      Thanks for letting me know that! It’s funny I just watched Oceans twelve and to see him in that movie after watching him in this movie is really cool. What a career arc for him and he’s a phenomenal actor.

    For future reference, the film (La Haine) is pronounced (La -En) it’s much more of a one word scenario in the pronunciation of it. Great review as always!

      Thank you so much! I knew I was going to butcher that title and I was way off lol. Thank your for letting me know the correct pronunciation.

    My top non-English language film recommendations (foreign sounds a bit perrochial). City of God (Brazil), Run Lola Run (Germany), Das Boot (Germany), Arianna (Swedish/Danish), Diabolique (French), Brotherhood of Wolves (French), Taste of Cherry (Iranian), Amores Perros (Mexico), tbe movies of Pedro Almodovar.
    I could go on but there's a few.

    • @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
      @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia  6 месяцев назад

      All of those are great films. Pedro Almodóvar is fantastic director. I’ve enjoyed most of his films. Pain and Glory from a few years was great and actually got me emotional.

    I look forward to adding this to my Criterion French cinema collection, which consists mostly of films by Jean Pierre Melville and a few Goddard. Have you watched Army of Shadows, another melancholic masterpiece that I can sit through repeatedly and Le Samorai, which heavily influenced John Woo’s The Killer😎

      I own a few french films, This one is moving up to the top of my favorites. I only have. a few Goddard films. I definitely need more. I haven’t seen Army of Shadows but I will definitely add it to my list.

    I been looking for some Criterion movies to buy during their sale. I rented this and remembered watching this before. Jodie Foster does an opening praising this movie. This movie is like a Europe version of MENACE 2 SOCIETY with diversity. I didn't like or feel sorry for any of the characters because I know they would hurt me in real life. The "in da Hood" movies have at least repeat viewing value. This movie although good is not worth watching more than once. For any fans of 90s' "in da Hood" this movie is for you to get another view of "in da Hood" from another country. "In da Hood" movies never pissed me off like this movie does.

    • @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
      @LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia  3 месяца назад +1

      I respect that. I love those type of movies but what ai thought made this movie better then most was the cinematography. I have never seen a black and white movie look that good on 4K. Some of the shots were incredible. I also really Like Menace to society and Boys in the hood. Their great movies, This one just had the visuals and audio that escalated it.

    • @ricogomez4020
      @ricogomez4020 3 месяца назад +1

      @@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia That audio had me lowering the volume to see if that noise was the movie or outside. Good sound! My favorite "in da Hood" movie is SOUTH CENTRAL. Have you seen that one? It's about a father & son.
