    I've had slightly high BP for years, and recently got a BP as high as 150/95 or so due to stress and lack of exercise + improper diet. I started exercising a bit, cut way down on sodium/salt, adjusted my diet, and used this video after trying about a dozen others.
    This breathing technique and this music/visual cue has helped me relax and consistently achieve way better results than I do at the doctor's office (White Coat Syndrome gang, unite!). Over the course of about a month I've gone down from a height of 165-ish / 90-ish, down to as low as 101/66.
    I am not saying that THIS ALONE will suddenly "cure" your high BP - but it's certainly helpful in relaxing. I find it's best to use it away from stimulants (coffee etc.), and to go through this video 2-3 times before measuring your BP.
    Big thanks to Dmitri for sharing this with us. I've probably watched this 100x already.

    I've been doing this breathing technique for two weeks and in that time I have tested my BP 28 times; twice in the morning and twice in the evening on 7 separate days. On only two occasions was my BP higher on the second reading, ie having done the 2 minute breathing exercise first. So I am cautiously optimistic! In most cases there is quite a substantial drop, tonight 153/103, then after the breathing exercise 139/92. So I intend keeping this up! Along with plenty of cycling and watching my diet. Thank you.

    Thank you so much! This practice has made a dramatic difference to my experience of taking my blood pressure. Firstly it works! And secondly it has helped me get over my fear of taking it. I do the two minutes and then start taking my blood pressure while then distracting myself by listening to some inspirational podcast on my iPad. This seems to also encourage my breath to be more relaxed. After years of white coat hypertension even when taking my blood pressure at home I finally feel on the road to getting an accurate picture rather than just a fear reaction to the whole process. Thank you so much again, extremely grateful.

      Your blood pressure is going to be very low DIRECTLY after doing these exercises because it is extremely calming and slows the heart beat a ton plus many other factors, so it is pretty much irrelevant what your BP is during and shortly after the exercise, and it only truly matters what it is at on a daily basis throughout the day as that is what your true blood pressure is... It's like if you took a drug and felt extremely calm and your bp was really low/normal, it is pretty much irrelevant, all that matters is what it is at on a daily basis.

    if you want to be able to do this on the go as well. The inhale is a 6 count and the exhale is an 8 or about a 9 count. It helps the most if you do it at least twice for 2 minutes with about a minute in between each "session" :)

    Great video!! 👏👏
    The wound care nurses taught me this breathing after I had surgery and was left with open wounds, because it's also great for blocking out pain too, they told me to close my eyes, inhale through the nose and exhale/blow out through the mouth and to zone out from any background noise, just solely focus on the sound of the breaths going in and out and counting though them.
    It's also great if you suffer with anxiety and are having panic attacks, really helps to calm you 😊

    This is basically the 1:2 breathing method recommended by Tufts University. Inhale through nose 3 sec, exhale through pursed lips 6 sec (or whichever ratio suits your lung capacity, maybe 4:7, as long as exhalation exceeds inhalation).

    I used to use a thing called Resperate which consisted of a belt around your middle with a sensor. The sensor measured your natural breathing rate and then Resperate slowed it down gradually by playing a tone similar to the above, but specifically linked to the natural timing of your breaths, guiding them downwards.

    • @BreathNow_app
      @BreathNow_app  3 года назад

      Hi, thanks for your comments. Yes, it is a good exercise. You may consider trying our free iPhone app (link in the video description) which allows to set different timing of breathing and then verify by measuring your heart rate if this timing is optimal for you. No separate sensors needed. Heart rate is measured with a phone camera. Stay healthy!

    I’m going to tell you about five common ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen that can cure high blood pressure. 1) Pomegranate juice - This elixir has enough medicinal value to earn the name ‘wonder fruit.’ Scottish researchers from Queen Margaret University have identified how amazing it works for lowering blood pressure. 2) Celery - A recent study based in China, published by the National Institute of Health (NIH), hails celery as a great natural option for reducing blood pressure. More than 87% of the participants showed a reduction in blood pressure after consuming celery regularly. 3) Melatonin - It’s been used for years as a natural sleeping medicine with no side effects. But surprisingly, an Italian research study published in the American Journal of Hypertension shows it also brings blood pressure down while you sleep. 4) Hawthorn - Hawthorn extract and hawthorn berries have been shown to have very good blood pressure-lowering effects, almost equivalent to prescription drugs. The best thing about hawthorn is that it not only lowers blood pressure, but also strengthens heart muscles. 5) Quercetin - A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has reported that a 200 mg supplement of quercetin increased levels of nitric acid in the blood, thus dilating blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. But we saved the best for last. The most effective, quickest and easiest way to lower blood pressure naturally are 3 easy blood pressure exercises. Click here : tinyurl.com/yy2443ya?

    My white-coat syndrome has been the bain of my life. I have no fear of needles or medical procedures, but my colossal BP readings every time I visit the hospital are humiliating and frustrating. My assurances that my BP at home is very acceptable are simply disbelieved. I am what people used to call rather quaintly a "nervous wreck". All this is with a fistful of drugs rattling about inside me. I clicked on this video expecting absolutely nothing, but thought I ought to try what the gentleman was recommending. To my stupefaction, I managed, for the first time in my life, to significantly lower my own blood pressure. What can I say? Thank you, Sir, for your help. Hi, thanks for your question. You see, slow breathing, especially slower and longer exhales are exactly the tools which tell the brain to release special elements into the blood stream to dilate blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure. I would recommend to practice a bit more and try to synchronise your breathing with the breathing circle in the video. Please share your progress in the comments here and let me know if it helps you. Good luck!

Do the same with the exhale, yet release the exhale slowly through you mouth. Once again, follow the breathing model. Hopefully you'll see results. I'm going to try it again, and again until I become familiar with my range. Thank you for this helpful video.
