in an interview that was done a little bit after the Olympics was over John Williams said that performing with the choir was the very Pinnacle of his career he absolutely loved working with them said they were the most professional choir he never worked with and the fact that they are all volunteers is just truly amazing
Jimmy Stewart said the same thing when he was able to be an honorary conductor for the choir during the filming of the LDS classic short film "Mr. Krueger's Christmas."
My sister was in the International Children's Choir and sang with the Tabernacle Choir that day! At 4:43, in the blue bonnet, is my sister! She represented Poland. She looked gorgeous in that dress. I was somewhere in the crowd just admiring my sister from there. I'm so proud of her. 😁
How fortunate we are to have this live recording from 2002. Maestro Williams is 86 and we do not know how many more compositions we will have with this genius of composition and baton. I do cherish his compositions both new and old. I just hope and pray that we have many more to come from this, our own National Treasure.
The great John Williams (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Superman, E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws, etc.) conducting the great Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra. Wow! What a combination! I would like to have been in attendance.
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this, I cry. What glorious music, that brings the 2002 Olympic memories flooding back! AND it is fun to see all my Tab Choir friends singing when they were much younger. haha! I LOVE the kids from the International Children's Choir too! Thanks to John Williams for this masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably one of the greatest combinations of performers and conductor ever brought to music. This performance along with the Choir’s rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus is some of the best music you will ever hear.
Bring three of the greatest elements together Tab Choir, the orchestra at Temple Square, and of course legendary composer John Williams and you get this great work.
I also liked their performance of this song, "The Prayer," "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "Hallelujah" from "Messiah." My top performances of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
John Williams is a true National hero and it is so heart warming to see him embraced so warmly by The Tabernacle Choir. When you watch interviews with him, it doesn't take long to realize how humble he actually is. Our lives are richer for having his music in them. He has touched so many. May Heavenly Father continue to bless him.
Thank you for posting this it is beautiful, excellent performance by the Mormon Tabernacle choir & Orchestra at Temple Square. They brought a beautiful spirit to the 2002 Olympic games
Since this is a 2002 video it is hard to believe that the children are now in their mid-20s or older and some have their own children. Where does the time go?
What an honor it is for them to be conducted by the composer himself, a true master of music. I certainty hope they dedicate a really nice statue for him in-front of the temple in Salt Lake City.. he deserves it. You can go nearly anywhere in the world and one of his songs is instantly recognizable to people like Star Wars or Jurassic Park.
I also liked when they sang "O Canada," the Canadian National Anthem last 2017 for Canada's 150th anniversary as a sovereign state; and "The Star Spangled Banner" with Sandi Patty last 1987.
There HAS to have been at least a few people in the orchestra and choir who were geeking out that they were being conducted by the composer of Star Wars. I know I would have lol
Thanks for posting! I have friends who were in the ICC at that time! I love being in the choir, and this brings back amazing memories of the Olympics! Are there any more videos with the MoTab and the ICC from the Olympics?
Best way to remember the Olympic motto.... Citius, Altius, Fortius (Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger") [I help out on my sister's trivia team esp. The Latin section XD but this is much better than just the phrase.

That was before 2020. He's now conducted and recorded with the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras. 🐧
Considering John Williams is such a storied man, that is perhaps some of the highest praise in the world.
Happy for you!!!

The Maestro himself conducting perhaps the greatest choir in the world. What more could you ask for????

I was there. I wish they would perform this again
This gives me chills and produces tears every single time I listen!!!! Masterwork

If John Williams wrote for a heaven, then this would have been it. Genius and so spiritual.
It is such an honor to see Maestro Williams in the Tabernacle! I wish I wish I could have played under his baton!
Awesome to see John Williams with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I think that performance deserves a standing ovation.
You got one from me right now.
Yeah TAB Choir! Way to represent for the Master!!
I also liked their performance of this song, "The Prayer," "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "Hallelujah" from "Messiah." My top performances of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

Listening to the Tab Choir and Orchestra with John Williams is just as perfect as when it was recorded some six years ago. What a fantastic sound.
I love the Tabernacle Choir! they are simply the best in the world in my opinion. To have them represent the LDS church is such a blessing!
To think, John Williams did this at the same time he was composing for Harry Potter. Incredible
Why would anyone dislike this piece of music???
Thank you for posting this it is beautiful, excellent performance by the Mormon Tabernacle choir & Orchestra at Temple Square. They brought a beautiful spirit to the 2002 Olympic games
If Mozart was alive now he would be composing for movies.

Would have been amazing to be there!
one of the best of the great compouser john williams greetings from Hellas [Grecce]
Stunning, emotional, inspirational. Maybe there's hope for us yet.
I was 11 and I did not know that was my favorite composer right there.
He is the epitome of the term "in a class of his own."
Legendary skill! Good job!
Ever so wonderful -- inspiring, too.
Williams clearly allows nothing but perfection
ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR!
Listening to this right after the Patriots again won the Super Bowl. John Willians used to be conductor of the Boston Pobs.
Simply!!!!! WOW!!! It's Amazing!!!!!!
The choir.....amazing !!
An absolutely thrilling performance !
2:42. You know you're doing something right when you elicit that kind of a glow from JW's face. Lights my face up as well :D.
thank you, i love it
Truly lit my fire within
Since this is a 2002 video it is hard to believe that the children are now in their mid-20s or older and some have their own children. Where does the time go?
now this is a choir!
Glorious!
This is just perfection.
Excellent music well performed
It's really amazing.
IT IS JOHN WILLIAMS HIMSELF! JOHN WILLIAMS!!! I WASN'T EVEN BORN WHEN THAT HAPPENED LOL
Any thing by the One and Only John Williams, anything by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
I'm not REEEAAALLLLL Picky.
Its the World calling for peace
John Williams and MTC together? Holy cow!
I would've loved to have John Williams be a guest conductor while I was at the Missionary Training Center.... 😜
John Williams is my man of our QVC Adventure.
Let listen the Call of the Champions my good man.
Awesome!!!!

Citius, Altius, Fortius In Latin and the meaning listed below
Citius-swifter. Altius-higher. Fortius-stronger.
At 3:06 we see Jason Alexander in his relatively unknown role as principle trombone
Que maravilloso!!
E PORQUE ESTE É O MELHOR CORAL DO MUNDO???? :)
one of the children dressed like a Scottish person, was wearing what looked to be Nova Scotia ( New Scotland) tartan.
this should be the music for the JUSTICE LEAGUE !!
Thanks for posting! I have friends who were in the ICC at that time! I love being in the choir, and this brings back amazing memories of the Olympics! Are there any more videos with the MoTab and the ICC from the Olympics?
