  • Filmed at the Great Central Railway is a recreation of the heavy steam-hauled freight trains of the 1950s. A class 9F locomotive is put to the test as it hauls a long southbound train of over 30 superbly restored wagons on the double-track railway through the beautiful scenery of the Charnwood Forest area of Leicestershire. The train is described as being "fully fitted" as all the wagons are equipped with brakes controlled from the locomotive meaning that the train can run at higher speeds than freight trains which were not so fitted.
British Transport Films produced a film entitled "Fully Fitted Freight" in 1957 which is the inspiration for the title of this 2021 film.

She's always been my favorite British steam locomotive. The 9F steamed so freely, and was so well balanced, that crews were instructed by BR to keep her speed down so she wouldn't wear out her motion too quickly. British railway engineering saved the best 'til last IMHO. 92134 doing what she does best and sounding like she was enjoying herself.

Just for clarity, the reenactors playing the part of being members of a platelayer gang are in fact all experienced members of the GCR workforce and there is rehearsed choreography between the loco crew and the trackworkers. Working as a lookout on the 125 mph WCML with electric (almost silent) motive power is a completely different matter!
