    Hi Heath, You are certainly the "Planer Master." You know every trick in the book. I keep running down the beach with my planer, but it keeps getting stuck in the sand. LOL Thanks for all the information. Say "Hi" to the Crew. Take care and good luck, Mickey

      Hi Mickey, if only I knew every trick in the book... But then that would make screwing up a lot less fun. Everyone says Hi.. they're doing good, in spring break right now. Still waiting on surgery. Hope everything is good in PB... Take care, talk to you soon.

      Hi Heath, when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in Jan of 2008, it took eight months until they removed it. They don't move very fast in some situations. I must admit that my nerves were shot for eight months. Fortunately it's all gone and I'm fine. Take care, Mickey

    Heath great video. I’d like to suggest using 60-80’ of 60lb mono then tie uni to uni 50lb fluoro. This how we do on charters. We don’t use any wire at all. We do get cut off once in awhile but we do get a lot more bites. Also transitioned over from using double hook to single long shank hook with little bit of monel wire wrapped on top to hold the strip in place.

    Once again, love the new format. Even using older video clips seem new since it takes on a different perspective. I recently got into planer trolling because of you Heath! Keep up the good work!

    Awesome as always, Heath! I normally fish with downriggers and live bait but I will certainly add this to the arsenal on bottom fishing trips to troll between spots and when running home. I like this no crimping method as compared to the other video (made a bridle that way also).

    Hey heath! Love the videos and all the information! I work on a tug running between Jacksonville and Miami about 15-20 miles offshore. I’ve tried fishing with planers but never end up catching anything and fighting that planer back in even with it tripped (I think) is a work out. What am I doing wrong? Any tips?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 месяца назад +1

      Reeling it in when it's tripped shouldn't be to tough... It's probably not tripped. Planers work best over the deep reefs, so you probably just have ran across a fish down deep yet. Keep at it, persistence will pay off.

    Excellent, what part of Florida do you fish my friend?

  • @befmx31

    So Heath, how do you handle the situation fishing two planers and one gets hooked up? That second planer is still out there, deep in the water. Do you leave it out there or do you trip it? I have all kinds of trouble trying to manually trip a planer. Last time i was out I fished two planers and got tangled a couple of times. Thanks.

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 месяца назад +1

      If you get a fish on the longer one, it's good trip the shorter one and bring it in... If the fish hits the short one, leave the long one out. I understand the getting tangled, been there, it can be frustrating.

      Like I said, I have a terrible time trying to manually trip the planer. Any tips on the best way to do that?@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 месяца назад

      I have a video on how to trip the planer, here's the link
      ruclips.net/video/C1tDyqIpPE4/видео.html
      So, you need to be trolling with braid. To trip it, you gotta pull way back, then let the rod tip go down fast. This will create slack in your line. Once the line goes slack, yank back in the rod again and you'll feel it trip.

      One of them is an Ocean master 7' with all roller guides (80-100 lb class)
      The other is an Aftco 7' all roller guides (50-80 lb class)
