      I agree, although it is a shame that their parents were so harsh growing up, not allowing anyone to cry or feel emotion. I am sure that that must have had something to do with all the men and their philandering, as well as their own father having multiple affairs.

One of the best documentaries I have ever seen, in depth, many wonderful interviews, his life was cut way too short. I remember, too. I was playing in a huge cardboard box at the tender age of almost 5, where grama and mom were working in our kitchen, old tv on in the other room interrupted programming to relate the news and they went running in the other room to the tv. I didn't understand any of it at the time.
      I sat alone in a huge cardboard box and listened to them crying.

    It is SO HARD to watch this, but I did. I was in Northern California when he was killed. After his victory was announced we turned off the TV. (Our first color TV) When I got up the next morning my mother and sister were in the kitchen, looking shocked, as if someone had shot through our window. I asked, What is it? My sister said “they shot Bobby Kennedy”. She said they, not he. So horrible. It was later they announced his death. So when things like this are on I watch them. It’s like watching the movie Valkyrie, good movie, but you’re filled with dread because you already know the ending. But to honor honorable men, like Bobby and von Stauffenberg, to remember, to tell your children in this time of number 45 and weak kneed Biden, when there’s precious little to be proud of, that once there were such men as John and Bobby Kennedy, and von Stauffenberg, and Martin Luther King and giants walked with us, but I don’t see that happening again. Stupid people accept stupid leaders. I am so much older now than any of them got to be and I am just tired of it all. 💔😢

More to the point, were WE with them ? The killing worsened every day, but since I was in college, with my 1-Y student deferment , all I could do, is question-------& then in the fall, take it to the streets, by joining in my 1st demonstrations against that war. I supported the men fighting , by trying my best, to get them home. I was never, ever, against the men over there ! i-------we -----were fighting to get them home, damnit ! ------------it was a terrible time in America.

      @loditx7706 Год назад

      It’s similar to 2020 and the electoral college, but I think you are talking about the conventions when the candidate to run for the party is picked. When the political parties hold their conventions every 4 years to decide who to nominate to run for president delegates are selected from each state in some way (maybe by registered voters for their party, not sure) are allowed to send a certain number of delegates to the conventions. The people running for president have been campaigning and running in state primaries, so everyone knows who they are and how they’re doing. There’s lots of speeches and hoopla and back room wheeling and dealing. The delegates from each state decide how to vote. With the conversation in the show they were tallying how many delegate votes Jack had and how many more he needed and from which states he could get them. Bobby said he looked down to the floor and saw Ted in the middle of the Wyoming delegation and that state cast all 12 of their votes for Kennedy.
      That’s the best I can explain what happens, based on the little I understand in general. I don’t really know how delegates are picked to go to the convention in each state. I’m guessing it’s people with money or political pull in their state.
      Back to my original statement about the 2020 election: all of us cast out votes; that’s called the popular vote. Then something called the electors have to vote in Washington to certify the way the state votes. I don’t know how electors are selected, but they are supposed to vote for the candidate the popular votes ( yours and mine), but sometimes in the past they haven’t. I guess they aren’t totally bound by law to do so; so it has happened that a candidate won in the state, but the electors voted different and the popular vote didn’t win the campaign. In 2020 there was a conspiracy to seat people, who were not legally the right electors in order to steal the election for number 45. It didn’t work because one man Mike Pence refused to go along with the criminal act. He was an honest man, but I don’t think he has what it takes to be president. The elector system is outdated and unnessary now due to computers now quickly counting individual votes.. The electoral college is obsolete and open to corruption and should be disbanded. There, that’s my limited understanding, incomplete, take on things.

    The country would be a much better place if he survived and won. Every GOP president with the exception of Eisenhower has been a disaster for the average citizen. What if Reagan lost, no Reaganomics, no outsourcing, no loss of pensions, no stagnated wages, no massive debt. What if Bush 2 lost, no illegal wars, we may have avoided 9-11 since Bush was warned and did nothing and no massive economic crash. What if Hillary won, no trump fascism, no lousy pandemic response, no massive debt from unwarranted tax cuts during an economic recovery already in process from Obama. What if.....

    All of Washington was for the Vietnam war in the beginning. Democrats. Republicans. Independents. Everyone. LBJ listened to his advisors, and he was left holding the bag on Vietnam. When all advisors eventually changed their mind, including RFK, Johnson was really in the shi77er. It took Nixon into his second term to reach a peace agreement, and Nixon wanted withdrawl (which he was consistently doing) with honor. JFK was smart and principled on the international stage, had he lived, it sure seems likely he'd have made changes a hell of a lot sooner, and would have made those choices even if all his advisors wanted to go the other way. Want proof? Study the Cuban Missile Crisis.
