It's not easy to create a decent looking layout with 3 rocks...but this is the best I've ever done. I needed a home for my Albino Cherry Barbs as their current aquarium is about to be a whole new project. The fish it visually very striking so I want to switch to a simple style aquascape to really show them off.

Hi man! I love your channel. I have a question. I am very close to you (Yeovil) and have a Juwel Rio 180. I have absolutely no idea where to begin designing an aqua scape. My tank is planted and has bogwood but lacks ooommmppphhh! Would you be willing to do an aqua scape in my tank for your channel? I can pay too? Let me know!
One of my favorite is the Lost Buddha in the Jungle aqvarium :) I am curious what will be from it, and if you ever use up again that Buddha :)

I love ❤️ this quote too! When it comes to planted tanks, drawing, and wood carving, I'm very hard on myself, wanting it to look 👀 a certain way!
@@patriclop2pl and sometimes i dont even know what that "certain way" is. I just sit and stare. Sometimes the best thing to do is close my eyes and drop the rocks. I use a separate area to set up my scapes. Just see how the rocks lie.
I remember when I first started watching you and you going out into your yard and digging up dirt to put in your aquariums.. it was the first time I had ever seen this done!! And the results you got were just astounding to me.. later on I met and started helping Father Fish, I learned so much about the dirted tank and more about the capping system with sand!! Recently we have been talking about getting mud/ dirt from a natural water source and how beneficial it can be in an aquarium!! We are both such big fans of yours and we talk about you all the time 🙏

Absolitely love this. The closing section of this video was so soothing. Would be really great is you could do a sort of time lapse on this tank. Take a photo or short video every week for the next three months so we can see how it develops over time.

This has been one of the most relatable episodes I've watched to date. There were little things that happened during the setup that constantly happen with me and I felt really good about myself for someone as brilliant as MD having the same situations. MD is human after all 🤣

What I love about every beautiful video you make is that you casually plant approximately $100-150 worth of plants in each tank! Definitely inspired me to recycle plants, as well as start a plant only tank!

I totally agree about the "rules". I say go with what makes you happy, a layout that appeals to YOUR eye. The "rules" can be useful jumping off points, but they shouldn't stifle creativity or personal appeal.
Nice! The black background transforms it. The contrast; white stone, black background, contrast: green plants red fish, good opposites!! Love to see some shrimp in there, cherry reds would look great!!

You should look into getting a pair of firemouths! I just set up a tank of 6 of them, they are super interesting they sift the sand like geophagus, also flare there bright red gills out. One of my favourite American cichlids that stay on the smaller size

Carefull keeping your aquasoil moist and not letting it dry out, yes it'll keep some bacteria alive but it may give the opportunity for an unwanted pest too thrive without predators or a filter, remember it also contains fish waste , i kept some aquasoil over the winter months for an outdoor pond and shortly after aquascaping the pond i found out the substrate was able to house a planeria population living off what was left in the substrate, just a tip for in the future!
