Good news guys, Adobe has added curves adjustment layer to photoshop! Needless to say this process is also applicable on the desktop version. Although, now you will be able to do so from any supported iPad!

Hey!! Awesome tutorial! I just have one problem: when I try to start drawing on the dodge layer it keeps saying that there are no pixels and I can’t find the step I did wrong 😑 anybody know what I am missing?😅
Thanks! It means that you are trying to brush directly unto the curves layer instead of the mask layer. If you are on the default view, just slide your layer to the left and it will reveal the mask layer. You should be able to apply the effect with the brush tool afterwards. Let me know if you have any more questions :)
Best vid for iPad on photoshop I’ve seen after days of searching ESPECIALLY ease of understanding!!!! You deserve a 🏆

Double curve d&b has been how high-end retouchers have done it for many years. Glad it's now possible on ipad!
This is easily the BEST d&b tutorial on this app. So clear and concise. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this! Time to unlock the true power of my iPad Pro!!! EXCITED 😊
Have fun buddy!
This is really good info. I’m gonna have to watch it 100 times while practicing but I’ll get it down
Thanks! Don't forget to watch my more recent video about skin retouching using only 1 layer, it might be easier to apply :)
Thanks for the awesome video! Starting to learn photoshop on ipad and this is a great, straight forward exercise. Thanks and keep creating!

This was dope! For ipad & desktop.
That's right!
Hey thanks man. Not much out here right now on photoshop with the iPad. I really REALLY appreciate this as i am looking to use the iPad as my main computer for everything right now. With Apple making their iPads as powerful as their MacBooks now, i am looking at the iPads because they are a light carry and i can edit comfortably anywhere.
It is so convenient indeed!
The video I was looking for, thanks, will be useful !
Glad to hear that!
Great video. Thanks for sharing

My pleasure!
Do you have an updated version for this? The work is outstanding
damn cant wait to buy my ipad pro
You’re going to love it! But you dont need me to tell you that 😅
You should put the pointer so we could see what you do. A little hard to know exactly you work sometimes. Great videos anyways thanks so much !
I always try to make my videos better, thanks for the feedback!
You can swipe-right on a layer to do multiple selection.
that’s helpful thanks!
How on earth are you so accurate without seeing the brush cursor. It’s the one thing I really struggled with when I tried to retouch on my iPad. Adobe really need to find a way around that it’s the same in Lightroom when brushing it’s hard to be accurate with intricate areas
Good jop pro ..
Thanks man!
Your video is on point and subscribe
Thank you so much!
Love the video man, im definitely trying this on my iPad :)
Have fun!
My question stems from an photo editor's point of view: May one *benefit* from Apple's Mini-LED display for the M1 iPad Pro 12.9' during post-processing (in Photoshop Lightroom)? Or will one only get to witness the "glory" brightness of 1000 nits and beyond *only* when *viewing* HDR content? I've been told that Apple's new XDR projects at around 500/ 600 nits during normal usage. Do you notice any micro-contrast detail improvements when editing on the 12.9' mini-LED vs the normal 11'? Please advise, and thank you in advance.
Hahaha...fellow Montrealer ;)
Noiiice 🙌🙌
Is that an ipad air? Great video man!
Thanks buddy, i'm using the ipad pro 2nd gen in this video.
Hey good video brotha. I’m having trouble brushing the skin after going black and wait why isn’t my brush working ?
Thanks man, make sure that you've selected the black mask and that you are brushing with a white brush. Since the flow is very low the effect is very subtle.
Hi I saw you have brush cursor on the screen, can you let me know how did you set that up? (My brush size only show in the preview next to the side bar) . Thanks!!!
Hey! Did you mean when i was changing the size of the brush?
@@Piso hi, yes. How did you set it up?
Thank you I’m going to buy an iPad Pro which storage should I get?
Awesome! I always suggest to others to get as much as you can afford since videos and photos are always getting bigger in size. For photoshop/lightroom though, if you have a subsciption to Adobe creative cloud, you already have a free 20GB creative cloud storage.
Tried to do some portrait retouching on iPad for the first time this weekend, whilst travelling. Same iPad Pro, same pencil. The lag between the pencil and the iPad was so bad that I gave up. Have you experienced that? And how did you work around it?
Hey, I did experience the same thing in the past and like you i was frustrated to the point where i stopped using PS on the iPad. What caused the "lag" for me was the "smoothing" parameter in the brush's option. It has to be set to 0% or else it will cause a delay in your brush stroke. Let me know if that fixes it!
you should definitely do more tutorials editng photos or retouching photos on photoshop (ipad)
For sure, I am working on more of them. Thanks for the comment!
Pisal Chan thank :)
What brush are you using? My iPad was telling me that I couldn’t edit the layer I was trying to work with for some reason. It said that the content is not directly editable but I thought I copied each step exactly as you did.
Hey, you must have been on the adjustment layer instead of the mask layer. Select the mask layer before you use the brush.
Currently was looking for a laptop in order to use photoshop for high end skin retouching (frequency separation/dodge and burn), but now should I be considering an iPad pro or just stick to looking for good laptop? I have neither so either one would be a tremendous upgrade from mobile.
If you havent experienced photoshop on desktop yet, i would say go with the laptop. The app on the ipad will leave you feeling like you are missing out on so many tools. My thought about the ipad pro is that it will never replace a laptop, it is more of an extension of it. While some are being able to do it all on the device i would still go for the laptop. In the end tho, it is still what you want to do with it. I have both and that works for what i do. I do most of my editing on the ipad pro but still need the desktop version for some little tweeks here and there.
Great video! Is this 11" or 12,9"?
Thanks! Im using the 12,9”
Unfortantly this didn’t work for me. When I got to the part where I was drawing to “lighten” the areas it either did nothing or made the areas darker 😢
When I try to brush on the dodge layer I get "could not brush tool because the content of the layer is not directly editable" error pop up. Any reason why that is the case?
Hey, thanks for the message. I've pinned the comment which contain the resolution to your problem. Let me know if you have any more questions, cheers!
@@Piso will check
Thank you
I was trying to do exactly the same but it’s giving me a message of ( could not rasterize the pixel data for this layer is not directly editable) I don’t know what’s wrong ?
Hey, ive answered that question in one of the other comments :)
Mine says “ could not rasterized because the pixel data for this layer is not directly editable” how do I fix this
Hey! Sorry for the inconvenience, I did answer that in another comment
Why does my ipad appear (could not rasterize because the pixel data for this layer is not directly editable)
Hey! It means that you have the adjustment layer selected instead of the mask layer when you are trying to edit with the brush tool, etc.
@@Piso bro, is there a retouch tutorial that makes the face smooth?
I’m wondering why dodging wont work for me
What year ipad do u use
I am using the iPad pro 2nd generation 🙌
my iPad Pro cover: amzn.to/2WMY29W
First
Too quik
Which ipad is it? 6th gen?
Hi, the editing was done on an iPad pro 2nd generation. :)
It wouldn’t let me invert the 2nd adjustment layer. Now I’m stuck
Hey, you have to make sure that you’ve selected the mask layer first and not the adjustment layer.
@@Piso thanks a bunch for responding, I was hoping you would bc I haven’t continued after that step. That is exactly what I did.
Send me a screenshot of the error on my instagram account if you still help - @pisalchanphoto
@@Piso ok will do if I have that problem later. Thank you!
Really hard to follow the last steps to merge. I think you assumed we know what you were doing and you flew through it without explanation. Worst part of the video for a newbie. I watched that last merge multiple times till I got frustrated and exited your video, Just my 2 cents.
Hey, thanks for the feedback. For the merging part, i’ve selected all the layers/groups (you can slide the layers to the right to select each one) , once selected I merged them together by taping on the “...” and select “Merge layers”. Let me know if you have further questions. Cheers!
Sorry, but thats not high end 😅
