Oh man! Perfect on so many levels. Winning a year to the day of that race, getting the across the line win, doing it with a super early and excellent breakaway, and having the fitness now to respond and adapt, and pull that off on the fly. Chuffed for you, mate! 👊 🏆💪👌
@@RyanCondon it blooming shouldn't do, but 👊 Don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but I just saw you did a C race today and held your own 💪 You're on fire.

Congrats, you're an inspiration Ryan! Started watching your initial videos of trying to not get dropped in Cat D races. I started Zwifting recently and want to lose those additional kg by finding joy in suffering. Ride on :)
Awesome stuff - great effort! Cat C rider here, won my last two races via a breakaway - a really satisfying way to win...different to the usual cat and mouse pack shenanigans, more grit, determination, concentration. Love your content!
Absolute legend. Chatting to your other half at 170HR when I'd barely be able to breathe lol. You've inspired me with your videos to sign up to the thames path ultra this year. Keep up the great content.
Top work Ryan - what a long way in a year, crazy. There’s 2 things you need for Zwift racing 1. A plan and 2. An ability to change plan depending on what happens on the road. Great race IQ and victory 👊👍
Brilliant well done, what a journey as you look like a Zwift pro now, so controlled. 235W average means you could hold C cat pace easily. I look forward to your new challenge 💪💪
Massive congrats. It was this race that got me from cat c to cat b. I made my break on the 6th lap after the climb. I held 300 watts for the last 4 laps to win by 11 seconds. They will likely banish you from cat d after that impressive win. Breakaway wins normally get you bumped up.
@@RyanCondon massive congrats. We are not spring chickens and arnt 50kg’s. But! We can better ourselves and you will certainly see higher total watt outputs in the cat c’s which is an instant win. The next bit of good news is that when you beat the best riders in a cat you are leaving they are pretty much near the standard of the next cat up.
You need to start doing cat C races. You are not cat C yet because your average power is low due to your time spent in a slow cat D peloton. A cat C peloton is faster. It would help you improve your average speed in longer efforts.
That was mega, so glad you stuck with the breakaway! I’ve done 260+ races and only won 1 from a break, they are special, risky so even more rewarding! So if you are now top D you will need to dip your toe in C to keep the progression 👍👌
I think this is the sign to go to cat C Super job though. Nice breakaway aswel I think you should organise another one of your events like ADZ but a crit race that’d be awesome
Next weeks video "Welcome to Cat C" 🤣 Trust me, you'll want back in D in no time. I never got a Cat D win and the few races I've done in Cat C just destroyed me. Good luck when you get there Ryan.
Another good win. 👍 IMO unless your consistently challenging for top 10 in Zwift's Monday night 06:10pm prime time races you're probably not ready for C's. I understand that racing against faster riders will push you harder but the likelihood is you'll just get dropped and end up riding on your own at a slower pace (speaking from experience). Training and/or more consistent riding will help push your power and endurance. I've just done a month of trying to ride everyday and I can now hold 2.4w/kg at 10bpm less than last month.
Cheers Nik. You're probably right. Thing is, I think I can come in top 10 in a primetime race now. I've won the last few of my races so I might try C. 🙏
@@RyanCondon definitely give it a go, you still have the option of cat D. I prefer to still race in D but find mass start races more challenging as I'm definitely pushing VO2 max efforts trying to hang with the faster guys.
Very cool, break wins have a special flavour. Regarding the weird aborted attack, I've done something similar to encourage a competitor to come past and sit on someone else's wheel while they held the gap - making my 2 strongest competitors work while saving energy for an all out dig on the final hill (castle crit). I had realised they were both better than me at long efforts so it was probably my best shot and worked out. Could have seriously backfired though.
It's in minutes and seconds (it's 0:46 (not 0.46), and after 0:59 comes 1:00). However, I believe they calculate the gaps on a fixed speed, rumor says 30 kph. (Not meant to be links, youtube does that.)
You crack me up. You're like bigger, younger, hairier, non American version of myself. Your wife is a good sport too. There's no way my wife is coming to the basement to watch me win.
Well done Ryan! All your hard working is paying off, surely now you’re on the cusp of being a category C rider! 💪 I’m 10 weeks in and much fitter already but still struggle to maintain 1.8 with an AI pace rider for an hour (it’s the hills that get me).
