I get your point about ICE engines "end of an era", but I recall people saying the same thing about the move to automatic transmissions. Different kind of fun??
Different kind of fun, most certainly. But I'd say manual vs automatic is a much milder transition than a fully blooded combustion engine to an EV. Let me put it this way, imagine driving C63 AMG with a manual gearbox. Then it becomes automatic only. Ok, a bit of a pity but we still have paddle shifters. Doable, as the chunk of the character is still there. But then C63 AMG goes fully electric. What's really left? Not much.
Good points! What's left after electrification? Well, killer acceleration and I assume the handling will still be a strong point. Of course, I can't buy either the gas or electric models because they don't sell them in the US. Sigh....@@AnnaOnRoads
Killer acceleration is definitely a strong selling point for EVs. But I think it appeals to non-petrol heads actually. A lot more than it does to petrolheads. The whole drama that comes with acceleration in traditional sports cars - the revs, the sound, the excitement build-up cannot be compared to an instant acceleration in EVs. It's a different kettle of fish ;-) In terms of handling, there are only a few EVs which truly handle well. Simply because of the weight. We want the range, we have heavy batteries. But this significantly worsens the handling. I love the Audi RS e-tron GT, an amazing EV which handles superbly. For its weight - gross weight, nearly 2.9 tonnes. This is almost 3 Alpines ;-) so here, it's pure physics when it comes to handling ;-) @@superbear617
The Alpine A110 is definitely underrated. I've never driven one however the reviews that I have read which you have reinforced Anna is that it is an awesome drivers car. Even James May owns one and we all know how picky he is when it comes to his cars. Unfortunately the A110 has not been available here in Australia for a while now due to its outdated safety crash worthiness. In the short term EV's will not be taking over the car landscape. The amount of the specialised minerals required to make lithium ion batteries to meet projected demand cannot be met. There was a conference held in Australia last year attended by representatives from Rio Tinto and battery manufacturers from Japan and South Korea and their consensus was they have no idea how battery production can meet the projected demand that is required to go full BEV.
One of these most underestimates sport cars. Unfortunately most people never ride a car on a race track to find out which are really the cool ones. Only caveat: the RPM displayed in digits is ridiculous 😅.
Light, agile, not very practically - but I like it. I really hope they will tax cars according to their weight in the future. Not to some weird WLTP fuel consumption numbers in kwh / litres per 100 km. Or ccm of their engines.
Hello Anna, I think the future for these dream cars is the manufacture of synthetic gasoline. The iconic Alpine A110 is a very good purchase, I really recommend. 🙂

Hello Anna!!! Let me tell you before anything, I love how suit you that white shirt, you look so beautiful!!!. Yes, cars with electric motors or hibryd ones is the future, but I have bigs doubts on that concern. I have an A Class MB with 1.8 ltrs and 190 hp without electric stuff and I'm really happy about it. Electric is in a certain way boring... no sound, real sound I mean. The true is that Germany is getting back to the diesel. Who knows, maybe the future is not that darker.Have a wonderful day and Happy New Year!!! Bye!!!
Hi Eddy, thank you very much ❤ Electric can be fun. For a short while. Then it gets bland and boring. Which might be fine for most people but certainly not those who love cars. I think tables are slowly but surely start to turn! A very Happy New Year Eddy!
I think it’s a beautiful looking car fantastic lines. I wish it had a manual transmission. I think everyone’s going to follow the example of Toyota high-performance and efficiency gas engines ,they are going all in on hydrogen. That’s the future. EV‘s are not selling in the United States anymore. I come to another conclusion after watching this anna is colorblind .
Consider Anna, all isn't lost 'yet'. People in America are getting the memo albeit a bit late. They aren't buying EV's. Yes, they are being suckers and buying hybrids. When hybrids start to age and get outside warranty and reliability cost increases by a factor of 2 x's due to 2 powertrains aka an engine + motor, consumers will start to understand. But until then, they will pay more for 'less' reliability long term as motors, motor controllers, battery and all the computers that allow a motor to work with an engine start to fail. Even the car you tested Anna has a very small engine displacement and high horsepower which translates to more pressure and heat due to turbocharger boost and dual clutch transmissions generally don't have the reliability of torque converter transmissions either. So the performance of that car isn't a free lunch either and won't last as long as a lessor performance car of say 10 years ago. Auto manufacturers don't make as much profit on cars that last forever and why they are designed now to fail out of warranty. If engineers get this balance of premature failure wrong, then it costs the auto maker more. Get it right and they make a huge windfall of profit selling replacement parts where they make the most money, not selling cars. So there is a reason behind their business model Anna including why auto makers sign up to making hybrids. Hybrids are much higher profit for auto makers when they go out of warranty. The public is really clueless about technology. Thanks for your video reviewing an uncommon car in America.

Hi Anthony! Oh I love love love these questions! I am an avid traveller and sadly I have a soft spot for great hotels. Anna. I can not for the life of me see the panic for EV. They have been proved time and time again not to work, be super expensive and slow to re-charge. Apart from the small Volvos everything else seems in my eyes to be a mish mash of try this battery, oh, now this one, waste of time , and the insurance, tyre cost and the dreaded drop in value coupled with the massive purchase cost really does make one for me anyway a no go.
Hi Robert, this was the whole idea, to have small electric cars trot around cities. Somehow everything got manipulated into some sort of nonsense, absolutely!
Great video, in terms of cars and assessment of foolish people. Grabbed a Toyota GR86, manual, so I can ride out this electric nightmare. Hope you have a few good ones too.
@@gregs8685 - One tries, but there are many - dependent on the state - who (misguidedly) seem to think it's to their benefit to maintain the current debacle. Worse still, most of the EU lawmakers aren't even elected. They're 'appointed', by the dysfunctional governments. All that said, it seems things are beginning to crumble, which is what's required for change. Poland, strangely (and ironically, given this channel) went the other way, and (sort of but not really) elected a pro-EU head... and that's already beginning to crumble, after a few short months. For some reason, people don't tend to spot 'slippery slopes', until they've skidded halfway down them!
Hi Anthony, very well said! In Poland, we are always a little behind ;-) what an idiotic and moronic choice this was. The EV market will grow, but there is no comprehensive "switch over" to EVs. 😏 We need coordinated international government regulation, availability of raw materials for the batteries without supply chain issues and most importantly, long-term usability of the vehicle with the option to easily replace the ion battery. Plus willing, affluent customers, at all tax brackets, which doesn't exist. 🤑 It's a slow grind to an all EV future. A very, long, slow grind. 😑 I like the retro-style of this car. 💚😁👍🏾
Engaging review as usual Anna. It is a crime against humanity that this car is not available in North America. It appears to me that with every variant the 110 is creeping up to the venerable 911. But how would I know I have never seen one here in Canada let alone driven one.
Ice technology won't be lost but plainly battery cars are not the future too expensive to limiting can't fight a war in one or go off road just radom stuff.. In a 15 mins city they work. But that's a prison.
I love how unique this car is, but. Isn't it better to get Toyota Supra for this price? Or is that car worse, because parts from a Renault Clio doesn't fascinate me :D
It is very very unique ❤ Uuuuu, Supra is my favourite car, this is a hard battle for me. The car is not worse, it's superbly engineered, French engineers are actually one of the best in the world. Supra is a little comfier, this one is a bit niftier ;-)

Les voitures électriques sont trop chères, trop lourdes, trop dangereuses(incendies), impossible à réparer après un choc, et...mauvaises pour la planète, un comble !!! Sadly, it's French. I'll admit it's a fun, sporty car, but did you say £62,000! 😱😱 As long as us petrol heads stick together and don't buy EV's, we stand a chance. Great presentation as always, well done Anna.

The end of an era; and the beginning of an error.
Haha yep, the beginning of an error. Stupid move really, but I reckon this pathetic 2035 will soon be a distant memory...
@@AnnaOnRoads - I agree. I can't actually see how 2035 is possible, to be honest. 🤷🏼♂️
I don’t live in EU, but maybe vote the lefty politicians out.
It's amazing how little people remember, that muppet was in power just 8 years ago. I am so so glad to see people speak out. Lefties thought it'll be an El Dorado, little did they know. Fools. @@AnthonyKellett
The EV market will grow, but there is no comprehensive "switch over" to EVs. 😏
We need coordinated international government regulation, availability of raw materials for the batteries without supply chain issues and most importantly, long-term usability of the vehicle with the option to easily replace the ion battery.
Plus willing, affluent customers, at all tax brackets, which doesn't exist. 🤑
It's a slow grind to an all EV future. A very, long, slow grind. 😑
I like the retro-style of this car. 💚😁👍🏾
I hope big brands will invest in hydrogen. Let’s keep these engines roaring.
Let's roar! ❤
Engaging review as usual Anna. It is a crime against humanity that this car is not available in North America. It appears to me that with every variant the 110 is creeping up to the venerable 911. But how would I know I have never seen one here in Canada let alone driven one.
The Alpine is more of Boxster, Cayman competitor. They look and sound glorious, and are surprisingly small by todays standards.
@@shaywhelan1 Yes, I suppose you are right. The A110 falls more in the Cayman category. Thanks for your insights.
Ice technology won't be lost but plainly battery cars are not the future too expensive to limiting can't fight a war in one or go off road just radom stuff.. In a 15 mins city they work. But that's a prison.
*”available to you today” (unless you live in the US😢)
I love how unique this car is, but.
At least female fingernails will still be beautiful ; ) Thanks for the video , Anna~
I already squashed it with my big bottom
Sadly, it's French. I'll admit it's a fun, sporty car, but did you say £62,000! 😱😱 As long as us petrol heads stick together and don't buy EV's, we stand a chance. Great presentation as always, well done Anna.
Haha, you know Paul that French have and still do, build one of the greatest sports cars out there? Alpine is the Renault Group, Alpine, but also Renault, fantastic sports cars. I was absolutely amazed with the Megane Trophy RS. I wasn't that keen on driving it, it was one of the greatest cars I've driven. French aren't just good cooks 🤣
Sadly french? If you believe it is not worth 62k then you for sure have not tried it…
I agree Simon, so Paul - you gotta give it a go!!! @@simonhurlimann908
@@AnnaOnRoads Hi Anna, yes I know, and there's Bugatti as well, but the bottom line is they are French and as such a no go zone for any self-respecting Englishman. Are you keeping the faith Anna, do you still drive ICE?
@@AnnaOnRoads NEVER! 😂😂
Anna stated she likes the colour of the car.
Me: I'm sure Anna has a dress in a similar colour 🤔 Understandable.
Hi Gregory, of course I do! Trousers in this colour - ruclips.net/video/z9b-UhpkBck/видео.html

I cannot more agree than you !!!!!! Save the planet from those idiots !!!!
The sexy will always be there... as long as Anna is reviewing the cars! 😍🫠❤️
As a green leftist muppet
I endorse this video.
Haha, good, thank you!
Sempre figa!🎉
