I really like the matte one, it flattens the look making it look more like a cartoon in real life. Love the fun background too ❤
I did a design similar to this back in 2016. It was less lines; basically one color, the black outline, then one white line with a dot for the highlight. Finish it with a matte top coat, and they looked like someone drew nails on my hand! I think the matte top coat makes them look so much better and more cartoony!
You can tell Cameraman had a blast editing this one, too. Love it.
Both glossy and matte turned out beautiful. Kudos to cameraman for pulling the music and the effects together to compliment Susie's work. Great job!

Matte is my favorite for comic nails. They’ve been my fav art nails for years & so happy you did a more updated tutorial. Comic books are flat/matte so they’re 100% comic accurate. Thanks Suzie & I’m ordering your new brushes, I didn’t know you had those.
The gloss points are reflexions of light sources or very bright areas of the sourroundings. They are not necessarily on the highest points, but dependant on the position of light sources and the angle at which the glossy surface is hit.

I love this new nail idea. I’ve seen them on several tutorials and I love it!! Right when you said ‘let me know what you prefer, matte or glossy my immediate thought was matte because it wouldn’t it extra comic like. And so it did, so matte it is for me.

The matte enhances the illusion of being printed on paper and makes it look more flat.

I know a tip for working with nail polish and designs. Once you have a base color on you can use acrylic paint on top of that after it's dry and if you let the acrylic dry on that you can scrape it away from the polish using a toothpick to clean it up then once your design is done you topcoat it. I do prefer a matte top for these types of nails cause, to me, it makes more sense because comics are typically on a matte paper. That, and it flattens them to look like it's drawn.
