The PS5 and Xbov ss/sx is literally a home console. Not made for traveling and constant unplugging. To each their own, do what you want. It's going to be funny asl when this guy comes back on here telling us how the PS5 is a cheap console that breaks easily because he traveled with it outside his house.
I just realized the bottom is matte because the disc drive lays flat on whatever surface you got the PS5 on when it's horizontal. That's why compared to the OG, the disc drive is flat on one side
I love it not as disproportions eye sore as Ps5 look its basically a medium size 90s folder & I prefer Physical Disc if you have no internet or slow WiFi you can’t download it especially if parents lock WiFi data.
3:09 - those aren't the feet - they prevent the old PS5 fat base from working with the slim - it sticks out just enough to prevent you from lining up the threads for the screw
Ugh. I hate it even more now that I’ve seen an unboxing. I’m one who loved the OG’s design (I know not everyone did/does), and the Slim model takes that OG design and changes it into some weird, off putting mutation. The bump out. The horizontal splits. The matte/glossy combo. All ugly-making choices imho. Gross. Just gross. And the stinky cherry on top is that it’s not actually cheaper than the OG, leaving it with no redeeming qualities.
Would've been nice if you actually showed how the 'feet' slide/clip into place when placing the console horizontally instead of just cutting to them being placed in. I'm curious as to how secure they feel. Do they actually clip into a certain slot or do you just place them anywhere in the gap between the plates?
@@SubZero15 Thanks for the info. It's funny, there's a lot of these early unboxing videos making fun of how cheap the stands look yet none of them show how they actually fit into place. They just cut to the feet already inserted. I'm sure, like me, there will be a few people that are curious to see just how the feet attach to the console.
@@bpowick I agree! I can understand the complaints with the feet being cheap too but I’m sure we would see third party manufacturers making much more durable ones. But overall I don’t mind them. @@SubZero15 Personally, I think they should've done away with the curve and just flattened the console off so you didn't need any type of stand at all.
Wonder if you installed the feet wrong seems to be resting on the center of the disc drive rather than the raised symbols you mentioned. Doesn’t looks very stable or good imo on its side the original looked better horizontal. I don’t mind the look vertically though
personally i think it's so stupid that you buy a disk version and get a code... i expect to get a physical game when buying a disk version and a code when buying the digital version
i think once the holiday season passes, they'll still keep the bundles around with the free game - the game will change, but the bundle will remain $499 which keeps it at sort of a discount. that or they have the slim alone but slash the price of the disc to $450
When the original ps5 came out, Ive always said once they release the slim version, thats when they will perfect it and it has been perfected. Reason why i didnt get the original.
I don't normally watch unboxing videos but I did enjoy this one. I am actually getting a normal PS5 this Christmas. I don't think we have the new slim ones here in Ireland just yet. Thanks again for a great video.
That is the size the PS5 should have been at launch and if you are buying one for the first time definitely get the slim. If you already own one, I wouldn’t waste the money especially if the rumored “Pro” comes out next year or so.
I respect that a lot of people want the best system but does it really matter what size it is or what color it is I mean it’s all ascetic and all you want is to play the game but to each their own.
My only issue is the prospect of phasing out the old one. Them not calling it a slim is worrying personally, cause the issue at hand is the disc drive REQUIRING internet to pair to the PlayStation. Not an issue for 99% of users I understand, but I work in retail, some of my regulars don't have internet for various reasons, and most are saving up for a PS5, have been for a long time, but if the original goes away, second hand will be their only option as the new model will be a paperweight to them. If that does happen, and Sony phase out the old model, I'll probably ask those people who have no internet before they buy (if there's no second hand ones available) "hey, btw it needs internet to connect the disc drive to the console. I can do that for you here" yada yada yada I could go on. It's ok cause it's a one time thing for verification, and I guess it's to stop spoofed drives or something, but for those very few people, this is a terrible sign of things to come
Looks like it will actually fit into an entertainment center, so that’s a win. Every other PS5 I’ve seen in the wild is always standing sideways behind the TV or laying on top of the entertainment center because it can’t fit anywhere. I think Microsoft ought to revise the Series X in a Series S form factor.
@@ArturKwaszynit really does look cheap though lmao. They took away the top vents so now it’s just giant holes and gloss on consoles is terrible. Prefer the matte finish on OG PS5 and Xbox.
If I haven’t got a ps5 yet and I’m looking to buy one, which one should I buy? The normal one or this one(the slim version)? Or it doesn’t really matter?
Agree a physical copy of the games in the bundles would be a lot better. Digital consoles excluded. But you can’t complain about the switch to usb C man cmon it’s 2023. Everything should go to C. And if I have usb an accessories just get an adapter..
Two major criticisms no vents around the edges like the larger version of the PS5. And a new chrome version of the old dual purpose stand would have been nice. 😎
I see a lot of people on RUclips throwing shade at this new PS5 model which I honestly don't understand because every single tech breakdown of the system shows that it's basically identical in performance to previous PS5s while being smaller and coming with a bit more storage. The increase in price of the digital version is a moot point to me because I wouldn't have ever told someone to buy that version of the system before as you'd just be gimping yourself out of the possibility of picking up physical games on sale from retailers both in stores AND online and now it's just more obvious that you should buy the regular version of the system anyway BUT if you are given the digital version for some odd reason you AT LEAST have the option to convert it to the physical version later on. This also means that you can pretty easily replace the drive if it ever fails in the future which just wasn't possible before as the drives were bound to the system. Now, if you already have a PS5 then I really don't see a point in upgraded (although with the now very real possibility of a PS5 Pro coming late next year that might be something to watch out for) as it's not really meant to be an upgrade but simply a mid-gen refresh of the current system BUT if you DON'T have a PS5 currently and want one then now is a fantastic time to pick them up as Sony is pushing some pretty aggressive deals right now all around the world to try and make their sales projections for the year.
@@themovies338 Unfortunately videos are out now which show that it does indeed "reset" the validation status. The law requires that if you have a detachable disc drive you have to take measures to prevent piracy. Okay I get it but why they can't just not have a detachable disc drive OR simply have the validation not reset after a factory reset? I'd rather not have to mod and hack the PS5 should I want to get my discs to function once the servers go down. Yes emulation exists but hackery is never as good as the real thing. This is just shafting the consumer so they can create PS5s cheaper and not pass on the cost saving to the consumer as its the same price.
the next edition will be digital only witht the disk drive as an optional paid extra, i can just sense it, that way they can charge 100+ for the disk drive and the extra bit of face plate

I wish they either went even more in on the look started by the original or completely bailed on it to do something a little simpler. It worked for the Fat ps5 with pretty slick curves and initially it looked fairly modern and futuristic even. But here, they were half in on the curvature but then went with an odd boxy look over the disc drive and next to the original it stands out at kind of odd. Give me a clean looking rectangular box any day of the week!

And ur still going to buy it like other RUclipsrs who said the same thing. 😮
I like it, was one of the People waiting for a Slim refresh so I'm happy.
If you ALREADY have one YOU DON'T NEED it. If you are LOOKING to get one, THIS!!! Is for YOU.
Thank you for actually showing the size difference. Everyone is filming them from the front which doesn't show the whole difference
I decided to wait for this one because I wanted a smaller one and a game for a better price. Pluss it will fit in my backpack way easier than the ps5.
Backpack like he carrying around a nint3ndo switch😩
This is the Quasimoto of gaming consoles.
3:09 - those aren't the feet - they prevent the old PS5 fat base from working with the slim - it sticks out just enough to prevent you from lining up the threads for the screw
If you format the memory, it unpairs the disk drive.
Meaning, you have to reconnect to the internet to pair it again.
True.
All that and the kickstand looks ridiculous. It's like the cheapest add-on they could think of.
Im gonna wait and get the PS5🎮Pro...🤘🏼💯✔️
I too almost lost the stand 🤣🤣🤣
I’m getting PS5 for Christmas !! 🔥🔥🔥 I might just go for the slim version.. I like the disk version one
Would've been nice if you actually showed how the 'feet' slide/clip into place when placing the console horizontally instead of just cutting to them being placed in. I'm curious as to how secure they feel. Do they actually clip into a certain slot or do you just place them anywhere in the gap between the plates?
have a slot, yesss
There 4 holes where you insert each on in! The box has instructions and its super easy. Just bought it that’s how I know
@@SubZero15 Thanks for the info.
Yes they should show you where they go as someone who doesn’t have the slim or thinking of purchasing one.
@@SubZero15 Personally, I think they should've done away with the curve and just flattened the console off so you didn't need any type of stand at all.
Not a fan of the look, but welcome it.
Despite that i much prefer OG ps5
Also ppl wanting a ps5 pro or ps6 but the current systems haven’t even used their full capabilities etc
Wonder if you installed the feet wrong seems to be resting on the center of the disc drive rather than the raised symbols you mentioned. Doesn’t looks very stable or good imo on its side the original looked better horizontal. I don’t mind the look vertically though
personally i think it's so stupid that you buy a disk version and get a code... i expect to get a physical game when buying a disk version and a code when buying the digital version
i think once the holiday season passes, they'll still keep the bundles around with the free game - the game will change, but the bundle will remain $499 which keeps it at sort of a discount. that or they have the slim alone but slash the price of the disc to $450
did you purchase the vertical stand?

It's ok cause it's a one time thing for verification, and I guess it's to stop spoofed drives or something, but for those very few people, this is a terrible sign of things to come
I wish i got this version instead , the original is too big
Looks like it will actually fit into an entertainment center, so that’s a win. Every other PS5 I’ve seen in the wild is always standing sideways behind the TV or laying on top of the entertainment center because it can’t fit anywhere.
I think Microsoft ought to revise the Series X in a Series S form factor.
Same power, smaller size while keeping the disc drive
For the front usb c ports you can use an otg usb adapter to use type a in the front
Imma wait for the Super Slim PS5
Imagine they keep the same design but smaller. Be perfect
Its about 30 percent smaller and they get to skimp out on the materials to make em but sell em for about the same price lol
Being completely honest, I like the new design more than the original.
Fr. Can’t see why people hate it ngl
@burritobandit1427 "looks cheap" smh
My brothers in christ, it's a game console, not a Ferrari 🤣
@@ArturKwaszyn this!!
Or it doesn’t really matter?
get the best deal you can. The Fatboy will be discounted now (Verizon deal is $460 and includes a game).
get the old at better price !
I’m so glad I got the OG version. I just got it literally two months ago but during tax season I’m going to have the slim version as well.
Why both??

Agree a physical copy of the games in the bundles would be a lot better. Digital consoles excluded. But you can’t complain about the switch to usb C man cmon it’s 2023. Everything should go to C. And if I have usb an accessories just get an adapter..
Two major criticisms no vents around the edges like the larger version of the PS5.
And a new chrome version of the old dual purpose stand would have been nice.
😎
if it was me, i would be glue-ing a clear piece of plastic between the 2 feet to give it an extra help of being more stable
I love the way it looks
Kevin, does this console need to validate the disc drive upon factory reset?
I really hate it, why did they thought of making slim this way. And for remote Play why can't they just give us a new psp
GTA 6 bundle going to be 🔥
the next edition will be digital only witht the disk drive as an optional paid extra, i can just sense it, that way they can charge 100+ for the disk drive and the extra bit of face plate
I’ve been waiting for a new version of the PS5 to arrive and I love this new form factor!
Question: does the blue ray disc drive finally read the CD audio too? Cannot find an answer anywhere
That's a PS5 firmware issue, not the drive itself. If it does not read Audio, that is because of the PS5 itself.
I'll let you know, but I don't have the slim model
Either my PS5 doesn't like Insane Clown Posse or Sony figures not enough people buy CDs to care anymore because it says disc is unreadable. Tried an unscratched one too
@@Alien_isolationist It's the PS5 itself, not the drive.
No, the last ps to read CD’s was the PS3.
Oh deng I recognize this track playing in the background LOL
I love it. Might get it because you can do more on the PS5 Slim. Plus it’s easier to carry around
What more can you do with it?
I like curry
I still prefer the og design, feels better.
I wasn't stoked about the original model but it certainly looks better than this ugly design. The only upside is the difference in size and weight.
@@cun7usyou only say ugly because you don’t own this version. Accept reality that the ps5 slim is the new face of the company. Look at past PlayStation console the slim have done well over time and people loved them to a extent. Sooner or later all will have to praise the ps5 slim.
@@kevingarcia685 I say ugly cause it looks ugly, there's no getting around it. Not sure what they were thinking to be honest, especially with that kickstand. I remember when the ps4 slim version and ps4 pro version came out at the same time. Guess we have to wait two years for ps5 pro version by then maybe the ps6 will come out in another two years after the ps5 pro version is released?
What’s the point of removing the disc drive???
you mentioned getting a stand for it, where do you buy from? :)
You act like you’ve never heard of Google
Looks even more like some kind of cheap small room dehumidifier now
The colored covers will come with a disc drive cover and a digital cover
I watched someone take it apart and did research. The ps5 slim is 30 percent smaller. The fan is noticeable quieter and and doesn’t get anywhere near as hot as the previous ps5
those pegs to stand the console on is ridiculous for the money your spending
Can we agree, this would be more of a PS5 MINI instead being a slim.
Well it is should've been named PS5 PROTOTYPE Console.
If you look at it horizontally it actually looks cooler though. The boxy thing is eye catching only when vertical but it appears better when horizontally..
the original PS4 had matte and gloss, i don't see the issue. I like it.
What's with the 8k thing 🤔
The only people i've seen hate on this are the ones who own the og ps5 to make them feel better about their consoles !!!
The 8k symbol means that you can stream movies and things like that in 8k, just not games (from what I heard). Nice video bro 🔥
8k hahaha.......
Would have made more sense to compare consoles without the stand on the OG. Makes it look taller than it is.
Every time we use the disc should we connect to Internet ?
no
the real question is where to get that hoodie you're wearing. looks awesome and kinda want to nab one myself now
The best change that no one really talks about is moving the eject button away from the power button.
Hey Kevin! Would it be possible for you to do a review on the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro controller soon? Thanks:)
Looks pretty cool. And are you gonna use that code for Spider-Man 2?
