Had a family friend who had 3 of these fluffy monsters :-P 3 unique personalities, and VERY driven. Very funny too... The male, Timber, escaped the back yard and i thought I was going to have to chase him down... Nope...
He saw my jeep topless with no doors, came to a skidding stop on the driveway while turning 90 degrees, and hopped right onto the passenger seat, sat down and looked at me "Were going for a ride, right? right? right?"

My Gracie was a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever and everything the narrator says about them is true. These are amazing dogs. Gracie was a little Chatty Cathy of a dog, one minute she is dying to get attention and when you give it, she’d turns her nose, as if to say, “To late loser, be faster next time!” She was a calm, sweet, fiercely loyal, would only be smart and perform commands if she wanted to, but her favorite time was evenings in front of the TV with a Disney cartoon playing, listening to Guy Fieri’s show Triple D or watching the nightly Star Trek reruns with my dad with a fresh dog treat to chew on while watching her “programs”. She had such a unique personality, cute quirks, but was always there to give you the support and comfort (she was not a support animal in anyway) you needed after a bad day, or in my case with daily chronic migraines, our daily snuggle times helped me get through the worst of my pain. I didn’t even have to offer to snuggle, she just knew when the pain becomes intolerable, Gracie would quietly distract me away from my pain.
I had that dog from 3 months old up till last year when she passed (at age 11) due age and illness.
If you do get one it’s important to socialize early and give them the right kind of training, if you do, they make excellent family pets. I would give anything to have Gracie back, but because they are a rare breed, they can be difficult to find and you need to make sure you get a legit breeder because these dogs can get common problems similar to all retrievers, plus additional problems when bred incorrectly including a shortened life span. Gracie was from a awful puppy mill and their intent was to breed her, but got shut down by the Animal Control before that could happen and all animals were seized.
Thank you for showing this grooming session with this breed because we would have to do the same with Gracie. She’s been gone over a year and every once in awhile I’ll still find some shedded hair in a dust bunny, or random hairs when I get out of the car, despite all areas being cleaned. So grooming is very important!
I hope you get to enjoy these wonderful dogs, they really are one of a kind! ❤️
Aw, Gracie ❤
Strange, I see them occasionally here in Europe, maybe they are much more common in Europe?
@@suilegew perhaps. I highly recommend them as family pets. They just need lots of training and positive encouragement. They will typically bond with one family member the most, but are loving and protective of the whole family. In our family since I did the training and took her for walks, Gracie bonded with me and we were very close. She was a Velcro dog for sure. I hope you get to experience having one, they can truly be a wonderful member of the family. Have a great day! ❤️
@@b.b.8955 While I have all the expected "warm fuzzies" about Gracie, I really want to comment to YOU.
Don't know if you realize, but compassion, AMAZING strength, and the best of love (IMHO, "best" is love outside of one's self - I think of it as "agapé") seem to ME, anyway, to be the "tone" of your comment!
I could maybe break down for you the "why", but in general it's just gut feeling, I guess.
I wanted you to know this.
Also, I really REALLY HOPE you've found more successful management for your migraines! I've been there. I was tremendously lucky, in that there was a physical component of mine I could tackle. I know that's not always the case, though...😢💞💞
Hope this is a "mental hug" and support for you. (Rather than creepy!😂)

I'm SO impressed with the shake command
It's for hunting. If she shakes while holding a duck she could damage it. So she's been taught to bring the duck to her human first and then shake on command, once she's given them the duck. Pretty incredible!

@@Jennyfisch even that pizza you ate at 2 a.m. a few days ago
So in between real baths I sponge bathe my dogs in a mix of warm water & organic ACV. It absolutely STINKS to begin with.. truly horrid. But it fades after a few hours & their coats shine, their hot spots stop itching & nobody smells a thing.
They're Pits & have super sensitive skin. I don't like to bathe them too often. Once every 10-12 days (depending on what they choose to roll around in!) & a sponge bath as needed in between. I use special shampoo for my allergy babies. & focus a lot on their paws where they seem to be the most irritated. We're in Texas. So stickers are a thang. I pull them out constantly & care for their paws... but licking has been an issue regardless.

Pretty sure the implication there was that this is her dog. She owns a dog grooming place, not a doggy daycare. She says she sees Flame on a daily basis "for daycare," which is just a funny way of saying, "this is my dog that I take care of and bring to work." And why else would Flame be in her back yard so much if not because she is her owner?

What a beautiful girl!
"shes in my shop eating dog toenails." shes so cute.
A lot of people here seem really curious about duck tollers. I had one. The smartest dog I've ever met, incredibly energetic and fiercely protective. Like flame, he had the softest fluffy coat, but without the white markings. Loved water, baths, cuddles, going on adventures, and tried to eat absolutely anything (poop, birds, raccoons, lizards, etc). As expected for a dog called a duck toller, he had an incredibly high prey drive and although he baaasically tolerated my cat, that didn't keep him from terrorizing it whenever he thought no one was paying attention. Potty training was a nightmare because although he was quite certain what he was supposed to do and behaved well when visiting others, he liked to let his big brothers know that the house was his territory. He definitely preferred women. Surprisingly not a big shedder. I'd say overall, they're amazing dogs in a single pet household.
It’s interesting that you had troubles potty training your NSDTR. I had the same problem with mine. It took almost a year to get her trained, (I got mine from the local ASPCA when she was 3-months old) she was so stubborn about it and she was the only dog in the house. I tried everything too. Then one day she finally started doing what I was trying to train her to do and I never had a further issue about it. She also bonded with me (female) over my dad and didn’t really like men. Weird how things work out. I’ve loved all the dogs we’ve adopted over the years, but Gracie has always held a special place in my heart because of how unique she was. This breed of dog definitely makes for a wonderful family pet.
@@b.b.8955 I have a 10 week old NSDTR. She is sweet and adorable. But the potty training has me perplexed. Good to hear she will likely come around.
