Okay...let's backtrack for a moment...Sailor Yvan Bourgnon, unassisted AND without a cockpit, sails the NW passage on (not in) a beach catamaran...What the h-ll?...The French produce great sailors but this catapults Monsieur Bourgnon above and beyond all other intrepid travelers...Sailing alone in the arctic on a tiny open craft, exposed to that cold frozen power of the ocean and sky... Wow, just wow!

Four people dislike this? What's wrong with them? What is there to be disliked? Some people can never be satisfied it seems, how sad. Thanks Charlie, Cathy and crew, it is amazing!
Don't forget Danish seafarer Jens Munk in the early 17th century. They were only two survivors from this expedition. Munk himself and a sailor. They managed to repair the ship after a long winter and get back to Denmark. A giant feat in itself.
People believe some crazy shit. A ferry boat with no sleeping qtrs isn't gonna take u on this journey. The ice would also turn that boat to a squashed can. This is beyond a reasonable doubt. Next is Mars on a cardboard box wrapped up in foil
Hello Charlie & everyone else. First off thanks for sharing your amazing journey through the NW passage with us. Looks nothing short of spectacular. It is my biggest dream to experience this for myself, to sail through the NW passage, and thus wanted to ask how I can go about realizing this? I do not own a sailboat myself and don't think I that will come to own one suitable for the NW passage. I do however have extensive experience sailing in Scandinavian waters, as well as around Scotland and the Orkney, Shetland and Faroe islands. Any tips would be much appreciated!
Wow the guy in the catamaran is a little nuts and brave at the same time ,only real problem I have is to top it I'd have to float a semi truck inner tube with paddle assistance of course while pulling a cooler full of beer drinking it as to not loose my nerve while traveling along the Nw passage while the whales circle looking for dinner.
Just when you think your having the adventure of a lifetime a Frenchman casually rolls by on an a beach catamaran.
May my life bring fruit so that I may one day experience an adventure like this...

True, that was a little underappreciated. I wonder if this guy even survived the trip.
