I think 90's actually - the guitarist I played with for years in and after college had one. It was a ton of fun, I'm a sax player so I had a WX7 (wind synth) and we'd do some crazy shit with them both.
I always thought that was why they didn’t catch on. They’re a good idea, but not designed right because they’re a PIA to play well enough to actually get a tune out of it. Come to think of it, he only made a ‘short’ with it. Even the master thinks it’s not worth a 3-minute jam session 😮
Like a Spinett. There was a time where instruments were made by handworkers. And musicians of all kind who got to deal with it. It's not the hardware that makes the talent or master. Creativity, sense, lyrics, voice, sound, rythm. Soul and technique. Make us a unique song we'll never forget.
It really is. I’m baffled Casio, or anybody else hasn’t made something similar to this yet. It would be SO much easier nowadays with the processing power we have available. There are synth sounds on my Helix, but it’s one note polyphony; you can’t play chords with it, unlike this thing.
I didn’t really mess with synth stuff in my helix much. Actually not sure I even realized it existed. But the axe fx 3 has some pretty cool synth tones I’ve been playing around with.
If you like this, also look up Allan Holdsworth & the synthaxe. He is the first pioneer of midi guitars in the 80s, and also to be considered to be one of the best players to ever exist.
Lucas talked Casio into making this for the Cantina Band. But it’s too fiddly to play, so nobody made money off of it and it was canned. JK. Just being silly on a Sunday night 😉
I actually took one of these (Casio DG-20), replaced the computer inside of it, gave the MIDI functionality velocity sensitivity, and made the buttons send MIDI messages as well. I did it because of its flawed design. For this guy to learn it so fast and present this video, took some MAJOR skill.
I was in a passenger jet that had to climb over a storm. We were way up there where when you looked up , you saw the darkness of space. I looked out the window and I’m pretty sure I saw one of those fly by. Sounds great. 👍
The guitar maestro Allan Holdsworth, used something himself called "The SynthAxe", which was invented in the 80's, so this guitar looks a lot like a cleaned up, revamped version of The SynthAxe. It even SOUNDS like it, and a cross between it and another instrument, the EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument), played extensively by Michael Brecker. Cool beans, dude!
My all time favourite channel ❤❤❤ Absolutely amazing videos sharing dear friend ❤️ Really enjoyed watching and listening 🎧🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸❤❤ Super big big like thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍 See you again take care, keep intouch ❤️❤❤
Ah, you uploaded a video about this guiter a while back. I used searched this guitar everywhere on the internet because of you and 0 luck lmao. This guitar is so cool i thought they made it recently but apparently it's an old guitar, damn. And that's why no one sell it anymore, they discontinue the thing
I hate that these are becoming popular, I have wanted one for about fifteen years and all this internet fame around them is going to drive up the prices to the point where I will never be able to afford one. Excellent playing as per usual though.
This thing looks and sounds so cool as if it was made in the year 2300.. which probably means it is from the 80s.
I think 90's actually - the guitarist I played with for years in and after college had one. It was a ton of fun, I'm a sax player so I had a WX7 (wind synth) and we'd do some crazy shit with them both.
Ok but what is it?
😂😂 We like your style of humor - it fits so well here at our house!!
it's a Casio dg 20 for anyone wondering
1987
I used to have one of these. Believe me when I say, the precision it takes to sound this clean is unimaginable. The thing is very temperamental.
I always thought that was why they didn’t catch on. They’re a good idea, but not designed right because they’re a PIA to play well enough to actually get a tune out of it. Come to think of it, he only made a ‘short’ with it. Even the master thinks it’s not worth a 3-minute jam session 😮
@@ImOnAJourney he's got two other videos with it, I'd say he respects it 🫡
@@unklekody
I stand corrected!
@@ImOnAJourney ....he doesnt make a 3 minute jam session out of anything and he isnt a master
I played one when they first came out. It didn’t live up to the hype.
Needless to say, I didn’t buy one.😂
it looks like if a synth, a guitar and an organ all had a crossover
that’s called a threesome
and it's meant to be a "toy"
Sounds like that amalgamation too!
A baby 😭
@@Farhan_049sounds like Mother 3
I’m starting to think Ichika Nito likes playing the guitar.
I think so but I’m not sure
It’s the “playing” part. He’s a kid at heart!
For all I know, he is a kid … but I’m in my 70’s, so pretty much everyone here is a kid to me! 🎸
I'm still not so sure, will have to wait and see.
That's some serious accusations you are throwing there. We don't know that yet.
@@CrossfeetGaming
😂😂😂
Sounds like a 16-bit video game. I’m here for it.
More like Sega Genesis than SNES, honestly.
No wonder he's so good, he lives 20 years in the future
i think this guitar was made in the 80s;
@@Real.Sami1 Living 40 years in the past is cool too
… or 40 years in the past 😉
Yeah, in the near future, year 2007
These are also notoriously hard to play because the strings have so little tension, which makes this even more impressive
Sounds like classic video game music. Like NES or Super Nintendo era. Was not expecting it to sound like that, was pleasantly surprised.
Mind you, at it's heart, it's a Casio keyboard, so it has a bunch of different sounds baked into it.
@@md_vandenbergand I'm sure it can work with midi as well, so really, it's capable of a nearly infinite number of sounds
Castlevania vibe 💯
Sounds more like a genesis game to me
Like the Synthaxe
This guitar sounds like it was made for your playing style
Every guitar was made for his playing style, he invented the guitar 4000 years ago
please make full version of this, this is too good
Castlevania OST 👻
Thats no guitar, thats a spacestation!
Only the OGs know that this is a reupload. Still amazing, anyways
Yeah lol
You enter a dungeon, the final boss awaits and yet in turn
*He plays the final theme for you* - Truly amazing in short time :) 💞
It loosk like and NES controller for an 8-bit Guitar Hero. And I love it. Well done!
I was hoping this guitar would be a recurring character and so far I wasn't disappointed
Its sound is so comforting and mesmerizing
Wait I remember saving this vid to my album 2 years ago (oh well guess I got to save this one to)
same ☠️ how the cmt are new to tho
I remember this! I always go back to this!
Мне очень понравилась ЭТА гитара и исполнитель - РЕСПЕКТ !

Sounds like some glorious FM! Reminds me a little of sounds I heard in Ghouls n’ Ghosts
Holy mother of Steve Vai! That is just beautiful.
He got it in a pawn shop from the future
I remember falling asleep with this on loop on instagram a few months ago lol
Did it loop for 8 hours, or just 20 minutes? 🤨
Reminds me of video game music on that
Every time this guitar comes out I know something magical is about to grace my ears
It really is. I’m baffled Casio, or anybody else hasn’t made something similar to this yet. It would be SO much easier nowadays with the processing power we have available.

Do you mean remade it?
Casio made these in the 80s I believe, its the DG-20
it says casio on the head lol
I have one of these, I had forgotten all about it and just found d it again all packed away.
If you like this, also look up Allan Holdsworth & the synthaxe. He is the first pioneer of midi guitars in the 80s, and also to be considered to be one of the best players to ever exist.
He plays the coolest instrument, yet again.

I'd like to hear a full EP of music made just with this instrument
This looks like the guitar equivalent of the cyber truck
Just a lot higher quality lol
The fact this old instrument is capable of tracking Ichikas playing speaks for itself. Didn't expect this to function well.
I actually took one of these (Casio DG-20), replaced the computer inside of it, gave the MIDI functionality velocity sensitivity, and made the buttons send MIDI messages as well. I did it because of its flawed design. For this guy to learn it so fast and present this video, took some MAJOR skill.
Wow, truly the coolest guitar I've ever seen! 🎸🤘
Guitar with cybertruck aesthetic wasn’t on my 2024 bucket list and yet here we are
I was in a passenger jet that had to climb over a storm. We were way up there where when you looked up , you saw the darkness of space. I looked out the window and I’m pretty sure I saw one of those fly by.
Sounds great. 👍
This song should be played when Sonic the Hedgehog gets game-overed.
Reminded me of SNES Street Fighter opening and other SNES Intro songs, love it 😍
That is by far the cutest guitar I’ve ever heard
When you play at 88 BPM, this guitar sends you to the future! 😁
All I can picture is Yuta from Jujitsu Kaisen playing some space age guitar. ❤
Star Wars Cantina Band
Man I love how this thing sounds.

A guitar that actually looks like it could play the baseline from the theme of Night Rider (80s) and I would totally believe it.
if you make a game soundtrack using this guitar that would be SIACK
A very unique sound for sure ❤
I love the videos with this guitar in it, the fabled castlevania guitar
The CASIO thing is back WOO
and that last chord made me bust 😳

Not seeing any Flight of The Conchord references is disappointing. I’m getting old.
AWESOME!!!
I just found an ad for these in an old issue of Musician magazine... looks weird but they were right, it's cool!
I'm lucky enough to have the DG20 MIDI version, but not lucky enough to have a talent such as yours to play it.
Ah, you uploaded a video about this guiter a while back.

The Casio DG-20 will forever make me think of Flight of the Conchords
1CHIKA YOU ARE TALENT
Looks like a guitar birthed by a DeLorean and Nintendo love affair
Id imagine this is the guitar of choice for the wild stallions.
Always a joy to see you pull this guitar out
This sounds like it would be in a retro game
I don't mind him re-uploading cos then I get to hear him for a second time ✨
It sounds like something any synthesizer could produce.
I vote this man to do music for the next Castlevania game!
Sounds like one of those air organs we had when were kids.
Prog bands are going to have a field day with this
Imagine him dropping a album with this?!
Casio heads would flip. They made this thing before electricity was invented, you know! 😂
What a beautiful instrument to play is play the guitar❤️
This isn't even a guitar, it's like a whole new instrument
Thank you for the auditory blessing
I remember seeing these are musician's friends. And there was a reason why they ended up there and forgot about.

Now play "She's so hot, Boom!"
I wanna tell her that how hot she is, but she’ll think I’m being sexist. She’s so hot she’s *making* me sexist 😂
Недавно владел таким одним, обзор сделал даже , классный инструмент хоть и мало функциональный в плане привычных для нас фишек
All we need is some sick lyrics to go with this 😊
fuck the guitar. Where can I get that smooth comfortable looking shirt??? It looks fire
