  • This project has been on my mind for years now. I finally decided to give it a go and I was so amazed to understand how easy it was to work with chalk paint. Its extremely forgiving so you can just paint and re-paint if you dint like a shade! In my video today I picked up an end table which is of solid wood with a glass top and transformed it into a chic and trendy looking end table. This furniture makeover added the much needed pop of color to my room. Rest assured this is definitely not my last furniture makeover! 😉

    Hi, thanks a lot for this video. That end-table looks really nice! And I love that combo of teal-blue and yellow! :) And I've questions. Is that varnish water-based or is it oil-based? If it's the latter, is it holding up well as chalk paint is water based? I went to the local hardware shop to buy it and they gave me the oil-based version saying the water-based one is no longer available. I haven't used it yet as I don't know if it will affect the color of the paint.

    • @DhivyaSahadevan
      @DhivyaSahadevan  3 года назад +1

      Thankyouu🤗 the varnish not water based. Its doing well so far on both my tables. The key is to use a really thin layer in a single stroke. I did not notice any discoloration to the chalk paint. U can try testing it out on the inner edges of ur furnitur. And hey don't forget to share it with me on instagram, I'd love to see what uve created 😊

    • @DhivyaSahadevan

      If u want a Matt finish u can use Matt lacquer or even wax. I prefer the wax finish but for surfaces that's going to be used a lot and may come in contact with water it better to seal with lacquer or varnish. If u don't seal ur furniture, it could wear off the paint or cause scratches.

      @DhivyaSahadevan  3 года назад +2

      Both are sealers but they give a different finish. I love the wax finish the best but if ur surface is going to be used a lot it's best to seal it with something more water resistant. Varnish can look glossy and u may lose the chalky look of chalk paints. I prefer using lacquer for such surfaces

    • @DhivyaSahadevan
      @DhivyaSahadevan  3 года назад +1

      It still left with the vintage look after destressing. If u have access to wax, that gives the best finish I think. But for surfaces which are going to be heavily used, u need to seal with lacquer or varnish.
